Has the same issue with XTR pedals as Toby mentions above. Check for cracks as you put pressure on the allen key!

    I’ve got a Thule 970 Xpress for 2 bikes.

Bought it before I got roof bars for the car and it was that good I didn’t get roof bars, I’ve just changed cars though and now need to get a roof bar system as I’ve no tow bar. So my Thule is up for grabs if you’re interested!

I’ve done this to a mid 90’s Kona frame for the same reasons. However that was a steel frame and from memory had a little more material to play with.

I’ve had the same problem as you kept dabbing the brake (grabbing a fistful!) as I was covering it. Tried to not cover it but that didn’t work. Found the closer your butt is to the top of the wheel the easier it is and the less need to dab…
…all of a sudden I wasn’t grabbing brake too much anymore and was manualling like I used to be able to as a kid.

I went retro for my 9yr old daughters bike; old Kona frame, SIDs, original Hope on 217s, xt vs, chris king hs, zee 1×10 with cyclox narrow wide and some cut down raceface cranks. Nice and light and rides great.

Does anyone that does vote actually know the full extent of what they’re voting for… what about a vote per pet as well?

Looked into this recently and am about to put new bearings in my decade old easton flatboys (that are still sold now). They’ve been great pedals for me.

    This one looks like fun!

It’s certainly quick; the clocks and digi dash both stop at 170mph but it keeps on going! The chassis is so much better than the previous generation ones too, much more rewarding to drive quickly.

I quite like the Scout, it’s a lot of car for the money and as said that gives you more bike money or holiday money if it’s up to the mrs!

Role back to around 1991, I was at Bruntwood with my Dad and he overcooked it and took a tumble on the little kicker before the last berm and slid a couple of metres on his head/face. He wasn’t going that fast, the helmet he was wearing at the time lost an inch off the side he slid on, he had microsurgery and iirc over 300 stitches in his face (you’d never know to look at him). Without the helmet on god only knows what would have happened.

People don’t realise what a ‘well fitted’ helmet does, or the risks of not having one. Kids fall off, they’re going to get cut and bruised… my kids have decent, fitted helmets just in case.

    Nicely done, looks great!

Here’s my 1995 Kona in it’s older build:

And in it’s current build, lives at work for lunchtime rides now:

    2.0tfsi (200bhp) has a K03 but it’s not the same K03 as the 1.8t engine
    2.0tfsi (230+bhp) has a K04 but it’s not the same K04 as the 1.8t engine.
2.0TSI engines have an IHI turbo, but there are K04 upgrades available.
Your car has a K03s, the engine has plenty of scope in it but you don’t want to go to someone who’s going to push it to the limit, you want to have software on there that gives you a better driving experience and is reliable! Revo have a 20% summer sale on at the moment, definately worth a look.

inbred, it looks like you’ve bought a nice one there!

The earlier Golf and A3 had the K03 turbo, cable throttle, NVVT engine.
MY2000 Golf 150 had K03 turbo, NVVT but was DBW(drive by wire) throttle.
The later 150 and 180 (all of them) had the K03s, VVT engine, and DBW.
The K04 is on the 210, 225 and 240 engined cars early ones are NVVT later ones VVT all DBW. These engines run a lower compression to the lower powered ones as well.

If you are looking at remapping make sure the car is 100% healthy first (or have someone else do it!), whilst the engines are pretty reliable coilpacks, plugs, vac lines, boost hoses, DV, etc, etc. can all expire over time and lots of use.
Don’t go chasing peak figures, it’s the power/torque under the curve that will give you a nicer car to drive!

I’d be looking to take up bregante on the Kona… I’m about to build my mid 90s one into a singlespeed, although mines been setup for disks. They still ride great!

    Now I have bike envy!
Apologies for sending this thread off topic… let face it chocolate is more interesting. People always doubt that kind of image, so I went back out earlier this week in the warm weather and got a video. Note I was holding a tripod and the steering wheel with my right hand which is why it’s out of shot on the in car. Big b*lls aren’t needed, just trust in the vehicle and setup.

Oh, it’s in a VW Scirocco clocks go 100-120-140-180 the increment between the two is 160 and I’m the Technical Support Manager for the STaSIS Revo Group. Lots more videos on our channel on youtube if you’re interested in cars!

Damn, I’ve not brought in any pudding today. Fancy swapping jobs for a bit? I get paid to do this:
