    Is 9 inches normal ?

No, there’s nothing normal about folding it in half. Weirdo.

I am going to wait and see how all the politicians behave today, then make a decision at 9pm before I go up the road and post mine. That’ll keep them on their toes.

I’m not sticking up for them, just trying to be fair.

I’ve watched the video again. The officer hits him with the baton, then pushes him, then runs away all within 2 or 3 seconds. That’s not time for any other officer to get hold of him, and once he’s run away, how can they take him away?

Fair point on helping him up, although there were two guys helping him within a second or two of him falling, and within 12-15 seconds he was back up on his feet.

What do you suggest they should have done with the perpetrator then? Arrested him? All turned their backs on the protesters to argue with him? I don’t know, maybe they did think it was ok. I just don’t think you can draw any conclusion from what we saw. To be fair, you did acknowledge that you were only presuming that they condoned his actions. Are the transcripts of their evidence available yet, that might give a more accurate insight into their views than just making assumptions?

I’m not sure you can read too much into the reaction of the other officers. The strike and the shove took all of a few seconds. By the time they’ve seen that the one who did it was back in the line, so there wasn’t really anything ongoing to then react to. It would be different if he went on to give the man a shoeing on the floor, you’d expect them to react to that obviously. You’d hardly expect them to all stop what they were doing to wag their fingers and shout at him would you, not there and then in front of a crowd. One of the articles in the guardian printed details of the evidence of a WPC who was there and she was very blunt in rebutting Pc Harwood’s claim that he was a threat. I don’t think it’s fair to read anything one way or the other into their reactions at the time.

Derek, it’s a private road, so no problem there!

Public place though. Tesco car park is private, you can’t drink drive there.

Goodness me, kids shouting and screaming whilst playing outside. Who would allow such an outrage? They should be sat inside vegitating in front of an xbox. On their own.

After realising that I was too pissed to continue, I walked out of a nightclub on one side of Cape Town leaving my mates inside, then started to walk/zigzag back to the hostel on the other side of town. All was well until I was accosted by a rather large and very determined lady of the night who wouldn’t let me past. Halfway through the ensuing argument, this bloke got out of a car and started walking towards us. With a gun in his hand. Never knew I could run so fast.

It is we who will pay your pension; you should be more grateful.

That’s right, because it’s only the private sector who ever pay tax, NI, and pension contributions isn’t it.

    Nugget.

Fewest deaths was VW Jetta IIRC

There’s been a few threads on this over the years, and the general consensus seems to be that if you go with an open mind you can learn a lot and be a safer driver afterwards, but that if you’re a cock who knows everything and approach it in that way you’ll still be a cock afterwards.

Appreciate all the suggestions. A few hours a week to myself sounds ideal, so that’s going to be the first thing.

    Not just me then!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not unhappy or full of regret, and am very grateful for what I have. It’s just exhausting, and often seems like there just isn’t the time to get even the everyday things done. It’ll be fine I’m sure.

Since you can clearly do the online equivalent of talking the hind leg off a donkey, talking your own arm off should be a piece of piss.

I like to be symmetrical, so I don’t wear my wedding ring, and I don’t wear a watch, because I would want one on each wrist. It makes driving a bit frustrating having to sit over on one side of the car.

I also wipe my bum until it bleeds a bit 🙁

They probably just go through the phone book, knowing that thousands of folk will be with HSBC. They don't necessarily know that you're with them. Always good to have a heads up though nonetheless.

90% of a poo will come out in the first 30 seconds. The last 10% cannot be rushed, and I would rather sit there for 10-15 minutes than finish too soon and have to go back half an hour later.

I can't go for a poo without something to read. Sometimes when I've got a mole at the counter I've found myself scampering up and down the corridor like my cocks been caught by a fisherman in a desperate race to find something – anything – to read while I give birth to a Yorkshireman.

I have just started a 'guided self help' course, which appears to be a sort of basic CBT (although still with a therapist), having been referred by my GP. I must admit that I found the first session extremely draining, and I'm quite apprehensive about what's to come, but I do feel that at long last there is hope of resolving a problem (emotional retardedness rather than stress in my case) that has blighted me since childhood. Nothing to lose really is there.

    duntmatter I'm confused.

you quote the definition of an offensive weapon, then the various defences to a different offence (the offence of having an article with blade or point in public place), then say the cop didn't know the law because he said a locking multi took wasn't within the 'less than 3 inch folding pocket knife' exemption, which it isn't.

    Can you clarify?

Aye that would work, although I've found that a lot of them publish their annual reports on their websites which would no doubt have such information in somewhere.

I suppose I was really wondering if there was some sort of league table or comparison source that compared lots of different ones.
