    Three day weekend

@Metalheart I managed a quick 10 mile ride Monday evening and it seems good now with both tyres holding their pressure well. I covered the main frame with some heli tape last night and I’m pleased with the result. Not as good as the invisiframe on the mountain bike, but it’ll do to protect from any bags rubbing. I’ll hopefully get a decent ride in over the weekend now.

@Ogden I’m pleased I chose the grey now it’s arrived. I’ve ordered some heli tape to wrap the parts of the frame that I think will be the most affected by frame bags rubbing. I’d like to say I can worry about mudguards later in the year, but this is the UK. I’ll use an old rear crud guard style for now.

Mine arrived this week, but a problem with the rear tyre not sealing has meant I haven’t been out this weekend. Plenty of time to enjoy it though. Camino GRX

We’re on the Halfords scheme. I’m waiting on a Camino from Alpkit who are happy to accept the vouchers.

I’ve ordered a Camino GRX 1 through cycle to work. Currently on a March build date so everything is crossed that there’s no further delays. Mind you I ordered an Occam this time last year for a Feb delivery and that arrived mid April, so I’m taking nothing for granted.

Orbea Occam. I’ve had my new one since lockdown so not been out on it yet. It looks nice though

Sorry for the delayed thanks, but seriously a massive thanks. Maps received safe and well. I’m not sure if you are aware, but there was an unexpected 2nd World War version folded into the Chester one. It’s very interesting to look at, but if this was a mistake, please let me know. I’ll sort out a decent donation once we’re out and about again.

I’ve emailed you about the Chester one.

    Many thanks

I ordered a new Orbea Occam from my localish bike shop towards the end of January. Delivery was estimated as 24th Feb from the factory and I’m still waiting. Hopefully it’ll be ready for the day this all blows over.

We’ve stayed at Dignity house for the last 2 years we’ve been up there. Fantastic place to stay near Clovenfords.    elliothouses.co.uk/dignity

There’s less pages. I also had to check it was the Premier edition. Still a good read though, so not all bad.

I’ve just been out for a couple of hours walk with my best friend Scooby. I was cursing him for rolling in every muddy puddle we passed. After reading this thread, it really doesn’t matter.

    My thoughts are with you.

Wild Shore nr Delamere Forest. Combine it with a bike ride in the forest.

    This is worth a look – https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361870590711

Images here of one in use. Not mine by the way. https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-15877.html

We bought a Cayman Tail Driveaway awning which you could probably fasten to the side.

Mbnut – Look on the Flat Tyres site for “The Marin and Moel Siabod” loop. It’s a pretty good ride with a proper hot drink and snack stop at the Spar.

We’ve had our first XTR (14 plate) for about a month now and so far so good.
We’ve also bought a used, but well looked after Amdro boot jump & tent which we are hoping to try out next week.

jonesyboy – I seem to be having problems sending the files via the forum messages.
Send me your email and I’ll send them direct or are they ok to the business one attached to your profile? Technology?

jonesyboy – I’ll sort out my tracklogs and mail them to you.
As I said though, I didn’t take the direct route as I did the whole thing over 3 separate weekends. Just wish I could have spared the time to do it in one go.

I recently completed my own route / version of Sarn Helen.
I started in Conwy and finished in Neath mainly for ease of transport back home on the train.
I didn’t complete it in a one week hit due to time allowances, but did take 7 days in all. I reckon you could include all your requirements into that ride and I included sections of Coed-Y-Brenin and Nant yr Arian too, with a ride through Penmachno forest.
I didn’t bivi, but used B&B and campsites.
I would have managed less days, but needed to go off course to get to stations after each weekend away.

My son spent a summer on this and I can honestly say it changed him for the better. So much more confident around people of various ages and happy to hold a conversation with them.
His group did a sponsored walk and a Charity Day in the local park and raised over £1000 towards the local Baby Grow appeal at the hospital. All organised by themselves.

Like those London folk who believe it’s always up to London, I think the same of Chester.
You should always go up to Chester from any part of the country.. 😀
My sister-in-law once did the same coming home from Yorkshire. She followed North from the M62 and got to Carlisle before realising her error.!

We started in Capel Curig and rode it clockwise. We also once started at the Marin Trail car park and rode it anti-clockwise finishing back via the Marin Trail.
I would always ride it clockwise from now on as the climb out of Trefriw is a killer!

As I love my 905 so much, I’ll suggest the 901 as it’s just the spec that’s different.

For what it’s worth from somebody who lives in Saltney, I would go with projects suggestion and head out towards the Wirral over the marshes.
I would probably come back on myself up as far as the cycleway and head left towards Chester and do a little sightseeing on your way back. Come off at the canal and pass Telfords for a drink and then up the Northgate Locks and follow the road into town past the Cathedral and all the lovely sights :-). Follow the cycle route around the racecourse and follow the riverside path back to the bridge at Saltney Ferry and back to your van.

In fact we’re going back to Lyn Cowlyd tomorrow as I’ve only ridden it the other way (anti clockwise) before. 😀

    “I’m keeping two chevrons apart.”

It always makes me laugh at how some drivers can leave the 2 chevrons gap whilst they are painted on the ground, but as soon as they leave that section, they close the safe gap. 🙄

Delamere is a bog off piste, but the fire tracks are perfectly fine. You could do a lap of Blakemere Moss and finish off at the Station Cafe for the best full English 🙂
Park up on the Mouldsworth to Hatchmere road (there is one car park, or loads of road side parking) and when you’ve finished drive around to the Station for the rewards.
