Where are you going to ride it?

Wouldn’t want stars and stripes on my bike anywhere outside of US for fear of being attacked.

Do you read the Daily Mail?

    Hey Warpcow

Go you for knowing something I don’t

I did say I couldn’t think of any because when I was using cable discs a few years ago I had only used Avid and Shimano. Apologies for not reading up on kit I’d never buy

And why does the roller door in the background change colour eighteen inches from the ground?
    fork truck incident……….

We had to replace an entire door and surrounding brickwork for the same reason

    Nice bike BTW

Oakley goggles have the best lens optics

Avoid tear offs unless doing MX

You get what you pay for….cheap goggles will not last long

    Hologram lenses look a mental

BB7’s have one static pad and bow the disc towards that using the moving pad.

I cannot think of a cable disc that doesn’t, to move both pads it would need to have a lever on both sides or be a sliding caliper

TRP is a cable operated hydraulic brake as is the Hope V Twin. I have the V Twin on my CX bike (replaced BB7’s) and very good they are too

Being a cynical profiteering git pay’s I reckon:

STW Classified and PB are all well and good but You’ll probably get top dollar on ebay where a small contingent seem to regularly make stupid buying decisions and have little idea of true values (but obviously fee’s will have an impact on what you actually get in the end)…

IMO the best thing to do is hold off and list your kit in late Jan with an end date in Early Feb to deliberately target people’s Pay-day, counting on the fact that Feb is a “Short month” and they are hopefully feeling a bit flush after January, just to sway their judgement a bit…

Lots of pretty pictures and including “bonuses” like the seat post/BB/Headset (that probably won’t fit your new frame anyway) help sweeten the perceived deal on a frame, Is it helitaped? bang on about that a bit, gullible buyers seem to read “Helitape” as “Shield of invulnerability” Oh and don’t blather on about the original list price, it is now irrelevant.

Always warms the cockles to see someone suggest stiffing over an unsuspecting punter just because they have marginally more knowledge than the buyer….gives me a proper warm fuzzy feeling

OMFG I’ll just take all my 26″ stuff to the tip.

I was gonna sell my Carbon 456 frame but I’ll just put it out with the bins

I use one with a Maxx D and as stated above it can shorten battery life but is very bright.

Could do with an auxiliary battery sometimes

Bright pedals make you look younger like they were on special at your LBS.

I fixed that for you

    1. Rear mudguard looks rubbish
    2. If you’re going orange get the grips to match the pedals
    3. Saddle is not flat
    4. Fence needs fixing
    5. Worst grass ever

    Other than that all good

Edit….Damn missed the reflector….was too focussed on all the other shizzle going wrong

Jake is I think is about 10 years old. It’s a scandium frame and comes with both disc and canti mounts. It’s a 60cm frame. It’s been powder coated, has newish custom decals and a one off headtube badge

I absolutely sympathise with you. I too have all but stopped riding off road and this thread has got me thinking. I have been using my cx bike almost exclusively as I can go straight from my house and a CX bike is great for the redways of Milton Keynes. Occasionally I go out on my road bike when the weather’s not too rubbish but I cannot be 4rsed to get my mountain bike out and drive to Woburn to ride about.

    Might sell mine now

All the best and happy new year

    Did you kill your Jake?

No the Jake is still going strong. Did a 20 mile blast round MK on it today. Just fancy a change

    Daffy

The Niner is aluminium and no better than the Jake TBH and as I said above I just fancy a change

How rough is Cannock these days? I did FoD verderers on a 26″ HT the other day and it was pretty rough and rocky. Are both the Cannock trails still the same?

FFS we are **** doomed. Ride your bike. If it’s too bumpy go slower or pick your route with more care but just ride and don’t worry about the bike.

Was at Chicksands the other day for the first time in 5 years (if not longer). Good bike park that is well run by Steve. Was chatting to one of the lads riding who looked suprised when I said I was going to ride round the woods. I remember when it was just riding on natural stuff not fabricated trail parks. I think freestyling the woods is the way to go on whatever you have

The advantage of buying a complete 29er is that I end up with a pile of bits to sell off to off set the cost of the bike

I have a disc braked CX bike (2004 Kona Major Jake) already fitted with Salsa Bell Laps, Ultegra shifters and Hope V twins. Don’t want another CX as I’m happy with that

I don’t want to spend a big pile of cash on a bike I may or may not like. At least starting with an MTB I can go back to an MTB if I don’t like it. If I like it I can splash out on a “proper” monster frame

I got my daughter a base model yamaha kit from ebay. It was £400 new and I got it for £150ish. It had been hardly used.

Don’t get one on the run up to christmas as the prices go mad as people want them for presents. The kits were going for almost new price for secondhand stuff. I got her’s in the week betwen xmas and new year for half the price of the week before. After getting to grade 4 she stopped playing and it languishes in the garage

Best bike gloves for kids are youth motocross gloves. They’re proper gloves that are as good as adults and don’t have Transformers logos (or similar such tosh) on like most kids “cycling” gloves

I have a Voodoo Ti Hardtail with sliding dropouts hanging in my garage that will do 26″, 650b and skinny 29er wheels……now that is future proof.

Just buy different wheels for doing different things and swap about as required
