Just wanna say you chaps have def got the right approach, happy to looks at ways of getting a bit better but mostly in it for the enjoyment!

I think the format really rewards teams where the riders are all very close both in total wattage and w/kg, which I think is possible amongst the teams with dozen or so teams where they can pick the teams accordingly. But really it should just about having a laugh and a good workout.

I’ve had a few weeks off from the TTT with the WKG lot as I was getting a bit disheartened with myself cause I wasn’t hitting the numbers in the TTT I thought I should be able to. Just come to realisation it’s just a reflection of where I’m at on climbs vs flat and not to worry too much about it.

I’ve got the Tron but not ended up using it that much, the whole “if you’re on the hoods, you’re in the draft” thing is too useful for me as keeps me from yoyo-ing off the front too much

If you’re using Strava might be worth keeping an eye on https://intervals.icu/ to keep track of the total “load” and building that up slowly, does a reasonable job giving a number of how “hard” a workout is, bearing in mind distance and speed etc.

Though does seem to count bike rides higher than runs which doesn’t feel quite right to me, a run that felt hard scoring less than an easy ride.

Anyone got experience of the Smart Sams in 42c size? Hoping for a bit more volume over the 33c Razes on the cross bike to make it a little more capable off road in flinty fire roads

I thought I’d been quite good at taking rest days but looking at my numbers this morning it seems I’ve done something every day for the last two months

If you’re tracking your riding through Strava worth checking out https://intervals.icu/ as a good way of gauging if you’re doing more than you should via the tracking of TSS/Training Stress Score and Fatigue.

Obviously listening to the body works as well!

Worth also noting in the discussion they had to cancel a month or two of bookings who are “owed” a ticket which is going to mop up a chunk of socially distant capacity with no new money coming in

We were in about 5 on Friday evening and though it was busy there was a small number of spaces, I reckon you’ll be fine and could def get in one of the less busy other spots

It means folk like me can avoid those race events where the organisers take it so seriously they have forgotten what it’s like to ride outside.

Have you seen the Facebook group “Zwift Transparency” in which is racers in their bib shorts and clattering SPD cleats videoing themselves getting on the scales with and without kettlebells to prove their weight? Some even show a copy of that day’s newspaper to prove the date!

I love for a televised event they still had the hack-y wait in the pen system used by the TTT and everyone jumped the line

Dangeour have you done a race on the UCI Innsbruck route? It’s a climb then a descent reckon that could be a good fit for you and some of the other folks on the thread at the minute

I did a race on Bolognia on Monday where it was the two laps so effectively, Up, Down, Up, Down and though the climb is proper there’s a lot more time on the flat than I’d really appreciated.

I know Dangoeur’s run the numbers but it felt a lot less of a climb than a drag with a climb to me me

Little bit of an update from CTT

We’re receiving an increasing number of enquiries about when it will be possible to start events once more.

Many will have seen that British Cycling issued a release yesterday in which it was said that for international and national level races, including national series and championships, the suspension of events was extended until 01 September 2020, and that for regional racing the suspension of events was extended until 01 August 2020. The Board of CTT consider that by its very nature time trialling is different to road racing and consequently for time trials it will be easier to accommodate the government’s guidelines on the measures that need to be put in place to help control the spread of COVID-19 and in particular the requirement for social distancing.

We’re hoping that it will be possible for events to take place, perhaps initially in some limited form, in the not too distant future. We understand that the government is looking at ways outdoor sport and social activity can resume once more, although currently we don’t know when that will be. Presently all CTT events are suspended up to and including 30 June. There is to be further government guidance announced on Monday next week, 01 June, and it is anticipated that a further CTT release will be issued shortly after. Plans are being put in place so once we’re able to, we can start events once more and guidance will be given to all clubs and CTT districts in good time to allow this to happen.

Ahh sounds like you’re already pretty far along the journey, sorry if I was being a bit “teaching grandma to suck eggs”

I think with the plans then I’d start by working out how many days a week you wanna do as that’ll immediately rule some out, i.e. TT Tune up is 6 work-outs a week, that doesn’t leave much room for anything else!

And how much do you like cadence drills because some like Build Me Up seem to me like cadence drills or threshold rides that are really cadence drills, which never work for me!

I did the TT with WKG and was a bit of a car crash for me, did some sprints in the warm up where I think I went too hard, trainer took ages to wake up so killed myself getting into the group and then was either out the front or off the back the whole way around! (Even more than usual)

If weight loss is the objective choosing a plan you stick with is more important than the content of the plan if that sort of makes sense?

So if racing a Crit every evening gets you motivated that’s just as legit as any of the plans. The key is not getting bored after a fortnight.

I’m down from 91.kg at the beginning of October to 63.6KG as of this morning, Zwift was a big part of that (initially turbo, then treadmill now back to turbo)

But realistically it was getting my diet in a better place that had the biggest impact.

For me that was cutting out the booze and trying to form some good habits around food, rather than the bad ones I had, So it was as soon as I wake up eat one of these so by the time I left the house I couldn’t justify eating a sausage roll for breakfast any more, like I used to.

What the breakfast was sort of didn’t matter it was about the new habit, Does that sort of make sense?

The big one though was actively tracking my weight, I’ve a Google Spreadsheet which I’ve updated everyday since I started 1st October last year, I did a month or so then just ran a trend line forward until I had holiday booked back in Feb and made sure I stayed near that line.

And the good news is changing the KG bit of WKG will have a mega impact in Zwift with the Watts you’ve got already.

Good luck Ant on the 1855, I should have held out for that one ended up doing a 2 laps round Yorkshire (same route as the TTT tomorrow)

The front A group went off like something bonkers, the B group never really got going and me and three others got caught in a no-mans land where we all knew we were never catching the lead group but didn’t want to ease up enough to get caught.

Putting it down as research for tomorrow.

Anyone doing the WKG race (innsbruk) tonight… 200ish i think…?

Last week the winning time was 14 minutes and last place under 17 minutes, looks bonkers

The 4-6wk FTP Builder is good and flexible enough to allow a bit of room for outdoor riding/the odd race.

Few sessions than the TT Tune Up I think

Out by 15% that’s brutal, I’m clinging to the DC rainmaker review where he said it was
More accurate at slow speeds and most of my best efforts have been set crawling up the Alpe!

With Zwift power they don’t expire for 90 days I don’t think?

Anyone played about much with Intervals.Icu to analyse your Strava and Zwift performance?

I’d been using Elevate which does a lot of similar things about training load, but Intervals has a really nice “how does your power profile compare to others” feature that’s interesting.
