I struggle with smartphone cameras. I have a Galaxy S7 which is meant to be very good, and I’ve seen some stunning shots taken with it, but I do a lot better with my point and shoot Canon. I find it really hard to get the exposure and contrast right on the phone.

I thought you could plug the controller into the USB on the side of the console without using the charge kit, give it a try.

You can connect the controller with a usb cable. I suppose you could look at building a dedicated streaming PC but given the price of a used Xbox it doesn’t seem worth the effort.

I don’t think there’s any simple way to do that. You could run a hdmi cable through but you’d have problems with controller connection.

Do you have a laptop that can run Windows 10? It should allow you to stream games from the Xbox and wouldn’t have to be particularly high spec. You could then connect up the TV as a display for the laptop.

80p tesco value tray works for me. It’s not the best flapjack but you really can’t go too far wrong with oats and syrup.

50% I suppose. Going from home means I can ride more, driving means I can ride somewhere more fun.

Skipping gears going up is fine, e.g. say you’re using 2nd to accelerate quickly you might want to go straight into 4th once you’re up to speed. Others have pointed out all the reasons why doing it all the time is weird and not the most efficient driving.

Head tracking is good for flight Sims but I didn’t find it all that useful for racing. It doesn’t feel natural in the same way as looking around in VR.

Of course it is a hell of a lot cheaper.

thinking more about this (really want to do it, as apparently Project cars 2 is ace on VR as well). If I were to get a seat, would I have to be perpendicular to the tv if I were using VR? layout of the room means I could only fit the seat alonside the front of the tv. Would always be staring out the door window, rather than the windscreen?

No, you shouldn’t need to be facing the TV.

Aldi should deal with it but I found Garmin support to be good.

Reported fault through the form on their website, got given a return number.

They won’t just automatically give you a return number because they want to troubleshoot the fault first. The form has space to describe what you’ve already tried.

My route to work has lanes either side of the road. There’s signs implying bicycles can use them in both directions, i.e ‘look right’ warnings for pedestrians.

It’s a narrowish road and I’m usually outside the cycle lane anyway given it’s mostly taken up by drains and fallen leaves. God knows what, if anything, the designers intended there.

Counter flowing cycle lanes are a thing, in theory. I don’t think many people use them because they don’t want to die.

You can download it direct from Microsoft. If you have a valid Windows 7 or 8 key you should still be able to use that to activate.

Hard to say. iPhone does well in the accuracy tests I’ve been able to find, but that’s not necessarily the same as the strongest signal.

With an edge 800 I have problems starting a ride while in the trees but if I connect first it seems to maintain accuracy with no problems.

If you’re not a regular runner, don’t push yourself.

When I started running I had some degree of fitness from cycling but absolutely no idea about technique. I think I came close to giving myself stress fractures in my shins before I realised that no, the pain wasn’t going to go away if I kept running (not just from one 5k though so don’t let me put you off).

It is becoming common now in Dutch and German residential areas to remove the distinction between road and pavement instead having one mixed use area, again it just naturally slows down drivers

I’m amazed at how much difference converting a pedestrian crossing to a ‘shared space’ in my town centre made.

It gets rid of the whole mentality of who has the right to be in the road. Pedestrians can cross safely without lights because traffic moves slower, and traffic spends far less time queuing for lights. And people don’t run out in front of buses anywhere near as much.

What are some of the responses here getting at? Motorists sometimes get off lightly so cyclists should too?

I’m sure you could. 19mm internal was common for ages.

Any particular reason you want to though?

I wouldn’t ride it if you paid me…

Edit just noticed he’s running rigid forks. I’m sure there was someone who had done similar but had essentially removed all the internals of the forks, even cut bits out of the lower legs?

He doesn’t trust carbon frames but is using homemade carbon parts on his stem/bars. And also removed bolts from his brake rotors to save weight. Interesting.

I watched some but I don’t think it’s well suited to live viewing. 30 seconds of action followed by 5 minutes of zzzz.

Plus some of the camera angles were awful. Commentators raving about stuff you can’t see because the camera was positioned on the opposite slope of a hill for some bizarre reason.

Add anyone in the family with a good insurance history on as a named driver.

There’s no requirement that they actually drive the car but it might be useful and should bring the cost down a lot.

BKXC on Youtube has a bunch of videos riding with BasqueMTB, if it helps.

I’d recommend muting it and skipping through the vlog stuff but the riding is nice.

Check out his other bikes. Porsche replica , simply don’t know where to start with that one . Eye bleach required!

I like the chainstay protector on the wrong side and the half-assed 1x conversion.

The retailer is still responsible for replacing or refunding faulty goods, even if it’s a manufacturing defect.

Though having read through properly they offered you a refund and you gave them bank details on Friday. It’s now Monday and banks don’t do a lot at weekends even if Nintendo customer services work then. Give it a few days.

Responsibility should be with Sainsbury’s if they sold you a faulty item.

I don’t really understand how codes can be faulty though? Already used, or not readable?

I can understand wanting a flash car. I can understand buying new, especially for the peace of mind.

What I’ve always struggled with is why people spend so much relative to their income, especially when the car isn’t essential for that income.

I work with people who’ve taken out loans close to their yearly salary, that they’ll be paying off for years to come, to buy a car they use once a week.

Of course people buy all sorts of things on credit but cars really seem to go to people’s heads as a status symbol.

    Any Garmin Vivosmart HR+ users?

Good for running and daily activity tracking. Can do GPS and heart rate for other activities but doesn’t include specific tracking modes for them. Battery life is good – I charge mine every 5 days or so unless I’m using the GPS a lot.

Garmin connect doesn’t have the best interface but there’s a lot of data in there if you want it.

It also has some minor smart watch stuff, notifications and music controls.

Downsides are it’s kind of ugly and doesn’t always sit comfortably under a shirt cuff as it’s quite thick.
