Require is a strong word. Of course you can get a better specced bike for a grand but at 5-600 it’s very competitive.

Is it while you’re using it or when it’s sleeping? Android has an option to disconnect from WiFi while sleeping which can be buggy.

Nope. No one I know is going to turn up unannounced.

I feel like being rude to cold callers is less rude than cold calling in the first place.

Tried the toilet paper test, there’s a large evenly spread damp circle. So that looks like a leak?

It’s NX 1×11 according to the spec sheet.

Basically looks like the last model updated with the new standards. 1x, boost, internal dropper routing. Also better brakes. Assuming the frame is the same otherwise it should be a great bike.

Bedgebury is my closest trail centre, Swinley is about 30 minutes further.

I find Swinley more fun when it does go downhill but it has more flat filler sections with nothing to do except pedal. Bedgebury seems to keep a better flow through the whole loop, though you do have to keep the speed up to make the most of it.

They ruined it when they made the old last run in to the penultimate one.

Unless I’m missing something the last section is Cake Run? It’s one of the better sections for me.

Kind of out of the way though as you end up going down a load of fire road to get to it and back up for another lap.

If it helps anyone else, I have eventually ended up with a pair of dhb Dorica.

They seem longer than others I tried so my little toe sits just before it narrows, and there’s no hard plastic stopping the toe box from stretching.

I’m not sure the quality is that great but I’ll see how long they last, at least I can wear them comfortably.

I believe eBay has some sort of automatic system in place than penalises sellers if they have too many returns/disputes.

There’s probably situations in which it ends up being unfair, and eBay’s policies seem heavily skewed towards protecting the buyer in general, but I don’t see why you should feel bad about it. Mistakes happen but it’s still the seller’s responsibility to sort it without guilting you into avoiding having it logged by eBay.

I imagine if your friend typed ‘SNES ROMs’ into a search engine he would find some SNES ROMs.

Osprey Viper 13 is £35 on CRC too.

Yes they’ve probably raised the price so they can advertise a bigger discount next week. Wait and see for now.

For Amazon you can use this site which will show you price history.

That picture’s definitely a different bike.

My 12 year old thinks it’s more capable than it is – she tried to get it to skip the adverts in The Simpsons which she was watching on our TiVo.

That’s pretty much why I don’t want to buy into it yet. A lot of the stuff I’d want to use it for is either not on the market yet or not affordable, and as far as I know there’s no standards to guarantee anything I buy now will be able to control both my smart oven and walking mini-fridge in 5 years.

I definitely prefer running without wires flapping around. Sound quality is likely to be worse than a similarly priced wired set but it’s not really a priority for running. I also went for unsealed ones for safety outdoors which affects the sound more than bluetooth vs wired does.

Would road contamination not be noticeable during the ride where it happened? The brake was fine when I put it away Saturday but screeching straight out of the door last night. It’s also only affecting the front.

I blame the parents. Both my son and and daughter were treated to Monty Python at an early age (also The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band)!

I hope they’re OK. Is there a helpline for this sort of thing?

I wear glasses all the time. Admittedly I avoid riding if it’s raining hard but they clear well enough.

    https://www.alpkit.com/support/stickies/cycle-to-work-schemes

They incur additional admin costs for purchases through some cycle to work schemes, and pass these costs on.

I expect the exact cost depends on the scheme and the value of the bike.

There’s some great videos of ‘sovereign citizens’ in the US.

General advice I’ve seen is no if you’re going to need the money in the next 5 years.

For long term investment/saving then yes.

If the phone’s still in warranty it’s best to go to Apple. That way you’re still covered if it develops a warranty fault later.

I don’t think I’d spend a full day at either bedgebury or swinley. They’re fun for a couple of laps.

You think CRC are bad? I just ordered some Maltese Falcons from Wiggle and they arrived without any Haribo in the package.

That’s the main reason I got mine – that and a good price 2nd hand. I’m not sure it has any huge advantage over a full length chain guard though. Maybe slightly lighter overall but that’s not the main concern on the type of bike most people are going to use these on.

Mine’s started to slip when I push it hard, though it is 2nd hand of unknown age. Hopefully checking the tension will sort it but we’ll see.

I expect the FC is required to go to tender. They do have the option to evaluate bids on criteria other than cost but it’s not an easy thing to do, especially if they’re getting less funding every year.
