Yeah it’s fine. As Drac says, it’s part of their official site.

Ahh found the info email now, it ended up in spam. I was wondering if my order had got lost somehow.

Yeah that’s my plan, spend a weekend looking at and riding fancy bikes I can’t afford.

Did you get any kind of ticket emailed to you or just the order confirmation?

If you can’t get to a store to sit on some I suppose you’ll have to go by the size guide on the site, which suggests the 19″ Boardman for you.

People talk a lot about getting the right bike fit, and it is important, but I found it really hard to tell when I started riding off road. I don’t know what kind of riding you do now, but it took me a few months to get used to moving around on the bike and finding the right neutral position. Until I’d figured that out the bike never quite felt like it fit me, but now it’s great.

I’ve not ridden the Boardman so only going off the spec sheet. The Boardman is a lot lighter and the components look great for the price. The frame geometry is slightly more XC-oriented, but I’m not sure how much difference it makes. MBR review mentions this as the only real downside to the bike, but still loved it

I can only speak for the Bizango (think the Bokor is the same frame) but it’s been brilliant as a new rider, and I’ve felt comfortable riding it over much more technical terrain than I would have attempted a year ago. It is on the heavy side but I have another bike I prefer for mixed road/off-road rides, and I mainly take it to trail centres or messing around in the woods.

If I only had one I might be inclined towards the Boardman, but it depends how and where you’re planning to ride. I don’t think you’d be disappointed with either.

Yeah probably 18 unless you have long legs. I’m 6’2, 34 inside leg on the 20″.

Alternative point of view: the kid was singled out and excluded from activities based on one incident and the fact that he was autistic.

Volunteering is great but it doesn’t justify discrimination.

Regarding the money, it doesn’t sound like they immediately went for legal action. Part of the settlement went to charity and part is in a trust fund for the kid.

I’m mostly a PC gamer but I got a switch last week and it’s perfect for quick bursts of play.

I bought it expecting most of my use would be in front of the TV, but the form factor works incredibly well in combination with the ability to instantly suspend and resume games at any point.

I find I’m getting home from work and lying on the bed for an hour playing Mario, or picking it up for 5 minutes before I have to go out. It feels like what mobile gaming could be if it was possible to sell full featured, full priced games on an app store.

    “Dropped kerbs are for driveways”

I’m sure they’d be fine with people parking across their drive.

Topeak Mountain/Turbo Morph. It’s a fair bit bigger than most compact pumps (though similar size to old style frame-mounted ones). It will inflate a tyre with a few strokes, no furious pumping needed.

That’s a novel way to attach the rear triangle.

Imo a short thank you/follow up email after the interview goes down well. It’s confirming you are still interested in the job and a chance for any minor clarifications you want to make about what you discussed.

Otherwise don’t push things, if they’ve given you a timescale for when you’ll hear back, wait until it’s passed before contacting them again.

In the meantime continue as if you haven’t got the job, go ahead with any other interviews scheduled etc.

The main route is all clearly signposted. There’s a couple of spots on the red where you can miss the trail, but it pretty much all converges back to a central point so you can’t really get lost.

I’d want to demo some bikes first in that price range. It gives you a lot of choice for hardtails.

I never hear anything bad about Cotic, there’s also the Stanton Sherpa which looks lovely.

If budget is a concern you can certainly get good hardtails for a lot less than a grand. Halfords and Evans have some excellent value entry level bikes.

I like having flagship features, nice screen and camera etc so imo anything that offers that around the £300 mark is a good deal. Used flagships from a year or two ago, or Xiaomi.

I’d reconsider about Samsung too. I went from an LG G3 to an S7 Edge. I don’t like the look of their software out of the box but they do make it fairly easy to pick a theme you like. I’m using the pixel launcher apk and a stock android icon pack and I’m happy with it.

Topeak do an adjustable cage that can hold disposable drinks bottles as well as regular sized ones.

Ebay filters let you show sold listings only, so you can check how much similar bikes or components went for.

    Guessing, but..

Water gets displaced in front of the wheels as well as behind. If the puddle is big enough some will be caught by the lip of the car and thrown upwards.

Will fitting brighter bulbs stop me being blinded by oncoming traffic or is the objective to blind them back?

Most drivers just don’t have much experience around cyclists. I see one maybe every other car journey I make. Add to that the possibility of cyclists being inexperienced road users, as they may not have had any road training or be riding/driving regularly.

You end up with a situation where both parties are uncertain how the other is going to behave, and uncertainty can easily lead to panic or poor decision making.

As for what to do about it, learner drivers could definitely do with more training on how to behave around cyclists and other ‘unusual’ road users. But on the flip side, how can we encourage non-driving cyclists to learn what to expect? I’m not a fan of mandatory testing and it’s not just about the highway code, but learning how a car driver is likely to be thinking and reacting to the road.

If the offer you want is marketed as a new customer deal they might not be willing to let you switch over, though those deals always seem shortsighted to me if they won’t use them to retain customers.

Otherwise I don’t see why they wouldn’t let you change the tariff on an out of contract number.

I’d check with Vodafone or someone else at carphone warehouse, but if they confirm what you’ve been told you’d have to go down the port out and back in route.

I wonder if you set a very big exclusion zone, so your route isn’t visible, would anything in it still go on segment leaderboards?

If the bike’s not actually moving, see if you can find somewhere to stick one of those magnetic car dashboard mounts? Would probably go on the top of the bar/stem and be a lot cheaper than quadlock.

Not a great solution if you want to remove it regularly though.

Couple more suggestions, they’re strictly battle simulators but very good ones. Think Total War’s battle scenarios with more depth to them.

Ultimate General is easy to pick up but still fairly challenging.

Scourge of War is very hard and has a bad UI, but it’s main draw is having scenarios covering everything from small skirmishes to multi day battles, and being able to take command at any level in the hierarchy.

It plays as a straight RTS if you want, but you can  choose to have the camera locked to your chosen commander, and receive/send orders by courier, which makes it unlike anything else I’ve played.

I don’t really know anything else that does grand strategy with detailed battles in the same way. Europa Universalis 4 is worth a look, I like the series a lot more than Total War but it will take longer to learn.

Otherwise you could check out Knights of Honor and the Cossacks series, they’re quite old now but they’re RTS games with formations of units rather than individuals.

Looks like it’s a reprinted edition of an earlier book. I’d hazard a guess that it’s not worth much but it seems like the kind of thing local historians would love.

    Sounds Aspie to me.

Worth looking into if there’s other signs but don’t jump to conclusions. Kids can be introverted or not want to go to school for plenty of reasons (because it’s shit).

I don’t think it ever occurred to me that I should tell my parents about bullying, and to be honest I don’t know what they could have done when most of the teachers ignored it. There’s not going to be black eyes and stolen lunch money for you to see.

I had this when I tried disposable contacts, because they weren’t properly matched to the ‘axis’ part of my prescription. My limited understanding is it describes the way your vision is distorted by astigmatism, so if this part is off you still get most of the benefits of clarity of vision but you are effectively looking through a lens that’s adding further distortion rather than compensating for it.

Who decides which bits of the Bible still have to be followed and which are no longer ‘culturally relevant’? E.g beards, stoning people to death, cursing fig trees.

And the classic question that I don’t think can ever be repeated enough. Why is God such an asshole sometimes? Who benefited from the whole Job thing?

Maybe stickers to go on our bikes saying “Drivers, please don’t run me over!’?
