Tell him people are still emailing you directly despite you asking for them to go through him first. Ask him what he wants you to do. If he says forward them to him before responding, try that for a bit and see how it works out.

It doesn’t sound like a huge deal if you like your job generally? If this approach results in stuff not getting done when it needs to be you can bring that up with him, or ask the people who would normally be going through you to raise it with their managers.

I’m not sure I understand why you can’t use sumif? If it’s just being filtered to show current month then you include the month as a criteria in the formula, so you don’t need to filter and it will only look at the dates you feed it.

If you wanted to make it as simple as possible for other users you could include a month-drop down so they can choose which to look at, and reference it in the formula.

If people are going to be regularly filtering on different criteria, then yes a pivot table is the best option.

Make a cell with the reporting date somewhere and reference it as one of the sumif conditions (you can use SUMIFS for multiple conditions).

if I look at the used market for a similar geometry to the new stuff it’s a size up. Which to me is odd

I think part of that is short seat tubes and long droppers changing how sizes are designed. So you can size down for a shorter bike or up for a longer one and still have the saddle at the same height.

I’d recommend using power saving mode on a short timer, it’s not really an inconvenience anymore. Unsure about plasma but if an LCD screen takes a long time to wake up it’s probably on its way out.

Genuine question as I am interested: is transgender considered a sexuality as people keep referring to or a gender? And if a gender why is transgender lumped in with the sexualities ie. LBGT? Surely trans people can be either LBG (EDIT: or Straight based on their identifying gender)

At risk of generalisation, trans people don’t want a ‘transgender’ checkbox when asked to mark their gender on a form. They want to be able to be the gender they identify as, have other people treat them as that gender, without needing that “trans” qualifier.

I think geetee has it right as to why this gets included when talking about sexuality. Similar experiences, similar prejudices involved.

You missed option D) Assault and/or murder them with minimal consequences because half of the world still thinks that’s a reasonable reaction.

This is why complaining that LGBTQ campaigners exclude straight people seems petty at best.

If it was only aimed at the LBGT community then it’s exclusive and discriminatory on a public noticeboard. Turn it aound and have something that includes straight, transgender and lesbian but misses out… . You’d expect the group missed out to add themselves.

Equality is only equality when it’s inclusive.

Really depends how it’s pitched. If they’re saying “this event is exclusively for gay people”, then sure, but I think that’s likely to be a straw man.

Assuming it’s an interest/awareness group then I think it would be weird to list straight too, seeing it as a topic rather than a set of criteria for attending.

I expect this thread will turn into a shitshow, but anyway:

I understand the sentiment behind actions like this, but also feel it’s missing the point. It’s possible that your company truly is inclusive and wonderful and no one there needs to worry about discrimination because of their sexuality, but in general that’s not the case.

Affirmative action/positive discrimination exists to try and close a gap, to combat subconscious prejudices most of us hold on some level. Being straight is still the norm, they’re included by default. I expect if a straight person wanted to attend one of these LGBTQ support groups they’d be welcome to, scrawling on the flyer does come across as passive aggressive and hostile to me.

Controversial, but was this actually dangerous or just annoying? If it was a one off and he wasn’t going silly speeds I’d drop it.

Practice somewhere open? If you’re happy standing up on the pedals in the first place I can’t see it taking you long to figure out.

Try in a harder gear to start so you have more to push against, might help your balance.

I’m a bit of an SSD skeptic, I think they’re pretty overrated but these days an OS-sized SSD can be had for £30-£40 and that’s pretty worthwhile. It won’t be the best but it’ll do the job. And it’s so much easier to do it on day 1.

Really? Maybe I’m impatient but an SSD has been the biggest quality of life upgrade on any PC I’ve used. It doesn’t do much for gaming once everything is loaded and running, but there’s a lot of games that load much quicker on an SSD and the PC will be more responsive in general.

Definitely get a 250GB one in there unless budget is really tight, 500 would be better.

Fascinating post. I definitely subscribe to the “nobody **** cares about your business” school of marketing, but this position seems to be quite polarised.

Generally I agree but it does feel different in a market centered around hobbyists, with so many small brands.

It’s hard to imagine brand reps from Honda turning up to a demo day and discussing genuine opinions of Toyota’s cars, or sharing unannounced info about their new models.

Should be fairly simple if the background is all a uniform colour.

Not sure what the preferred free image editor is nowadays but I used to use GIMP. I can’t give you detailed instructions but there will be an option to select a region of colour to edit.

The option to adjust the transparency might be referred to as the alpha channel or alpha masking, but I think in GIMP you just need to select the area and delete it, and it will default to a transparent background.

Lucca is a great place to visit.

There’s also a lot of old hill towns in the area: Volterra (Roman ruins, alabaster works); San Gimignano (tall towers); Vinci (Leonardo da Vinci museum).

These sites do detailed camera comparisons, and most tech site phone reviews will at least have a few example shots from the phone and competitors.

I think generally an older high end phone will have a much better camera than the latest low/mid range ones as the tech doesn’t change at the same pace as processor speeds and screens have. So if the camera is your main concern I’d recommend going for a used/refurbished flagship from 2-3 years ago.

re the Consumer Rights Act, my understanding is it covers defects present at the time of sale. So if you discover something was wrong with your dishwasher 5 years after purchasing it, you can still ask the store to repair/replace. However if the fault was caused by regular wear and tear or other damage, it’s probably not covered.

Obviously this can be very difficult to prove one way or the other, even more so with electronics. So it might work for you, but just bear in mind it’s not a blanket law saying they have to cover anything that stops working.

I have the plastic version of the carbon cycles ones. Cheap, light, still have replaceable metal pins so plenty of grip

Not had a long term test yet but I like them. Ugly logo though.

Those types of people would say it’s absolute insanity to put your cash into a depreciating asset (a car, whatever the age) when you could rent it and have your cash appreciating in an investment elsewhere.

This does make sense assuming you could afford to buy the thing anyway, and have access to low interest finance.

e.g. buying a new bike on 0% finance makes a lot more sense than emptying your savings account to buy it, but if you choose to finance an expensive new car you can barely afford, you’re losing out on the potential interest from saving/investing the money you’re spending on the car, as well as the risk of your circumstances changing.

It is sort of interesting but I find how you make a motorcycle go around a corner even interestinger.  I had some training where they used a bike that could have the steering locked straight ahead to demonstrate that you don’t just lean, you countersteer.  Riding in a straight line was OK if a little odd but cornering was very, very limited

You’re likely countersteering on a bicycle too to some extent, though the effect is less pronounced at lower speeds. It’s one of those things that’s very counter intuitive to think about but feels natural when you try it, and seems to be an instinctive part of keeping your balance through a corner.

Pasta is hard to get right as it needs more liquid than you’d usually want to put in a pressure cooker, tends to end up burnt or too soft when I’ve tried but still works for a quick one pot meal.

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>Using it for the sauce is great though, tastes like it’s been simmering all day.</span>

There’s not much hassle involved with instant pot type pressure cookers. There’s all sorts of set and forget meals you can chuck in the pot and leave unattended.

Careful with the cheap batteries though, there’s either a lot of fakes or Duracell license out their brand indiscriminately. The one I bought (from Amazon directly) never fitted my camera properly and ran out of charge very quickly.

Menu may be different in a 4, but try settings > iMessage and sign out of the apple ID or remove the phone number.

Or log in on the iCloud website and look through the settings there.

WhatsApps messages would come through on both if they’re set up using the same phone number, I think. Again sign out or remove the number in the app settings.

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>Kelron how did you think the Sniper was better? Seriously considering a Primer but the Sniper may be a better choice (didn’t get to ride one).</span>

Rode the KTM Scarp which was crazy fast but just too skittery at high speed on the downs, the Sniper might be a good middle ground…

Very light & fast without taking away my confidence downhill.  Bear in mind I stick to easier trails, but I was just as comfortable on the sniper as on the primer or spectral.

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>Only real downside I could point to for my riding is the tyre clearance on the back. It did get clogged up at the end of the demo loop, but it was very muddy.</span>

I rode the primer at the MBR demo day too and loved it. I also rode the sniper, their new xc/trail bike, and thought it was even better, but probably shorter travel than you’re after.

I have the Friston (their gravel bike) and it sizes up bigger than you’d expect. Different frames so I don’t know for certain that their sizing is consistent, but you might even want to try the 56 as well as the 58 if you can.

If the race uses the main trail loop it’s generally rideable in all weather but there’s a few sections that get muddy and slippery.

I’ve had this when a fitness tracker has got stuck in a loop trying to sync. Just having bluetooth on shouldn’t use much battery, but if something is constantly trying to use it to communicate with the phone it will. Try resetting/re-pairing the tile if possible, I’m not sure how they work.
