Watched on the Discovery+ site, technically all good other than a brief error.

Coverage and commentary wasn’t bad, they didn’t seem to be paying much attention to the race runs on a few occasions, but I’m sure they’ll get better with some practice.

Paying monthly to try it out, probably not going to keep subscribing for long when so far I’ve seen absolutely nothing else on Discovery that interests me. Might be tempted as part of BT Sport.

I thought the coverage was good, hope they can keep improving it. Some graphics and course info like red bull had would be nice.

Protected riders makes sense, it’s based on previous performance so I don’t think it’s that unfair. Would be a shame not to see the best riders in the final because of a flat.

Worth clarifying something – the Quest 2 is a standalone headset, it doesn’t need a PC to power it (but can be used with one). However if you’re using it standalone you’re limited to games you can get from the Quest app store. So you can buy a Quest for £300 and have no further cost other than the games.

If you want to use it for flight sims and don’t already have a gaming PC you’ll need to add that to the cost, which is probably going to be 2-3x the cost of the headset at least.

Skimming through the paper – over 70% of respondents reported being regular cyclists, and the questions seem very leading. Is there a better way to gauge this than overtly asking people to rate the humanity of photos?

Did for a bit, probably wouldn’t. Maybe if you’re only using it on dry hard surfaces. It’s also one of the least durable tyres I’ve used.

Rounding? There’s an option somewhere in the toolbar to go through a formula calculation step by step.

Canon if you’ve already got lenses.

Ribble said via telephone that components are only covered by the manufacturers warranty. My understanding is that the consumers contract is with the retailer not the components suppliers.

This seems to be a thing with bike retailers but it doesn’t absolve them of responsibility. If you buy a laptop from Currys and the hard drive fails they can’t say not our problem, talk to Samsung.

Unless there’s some obvious negligence on the part of your friend I don’t know how they can claim 8 months and 300 miles is a reasonable lifetime for any new bike part.

Yes there’s only 10 days in a month.

Consumer law still applies regardless of any warranty terms, this should be on Ribble to repair or replace if they’ve sold a faulty product.

It’s impressive how you only have to repeat nonsense long enough and loud enough to have people take it seriously. This has been going on for every iteration of mobile technology I can remember.

I use my dropper to make getting on and off easier, might as well if it’s there.

For your wife, could you help her get comfortable with stepping forward out the saddle when stopping? Maybe steady the bike while she practices stepping on and off the pedals a few times? I’m sure it feels natural for most of us but can be unnerving if you’re used to staying seated and leaning the bike to stop.

I’ve had better luck with the ones with conical seals at the base rather than square. Otherwise they all do the same thing.

Having never hired an MTB I’d always assumed the hire cost covered the risk of damage. Especially if it’s at a trail center, they know what people are using the bikes for.

I did damage a bike on a demo day once which they didn’t seem too happy about but it didn’t cross my mind I should have offered to pay for it. It seems like an inherent risk in handing sports equipment out to anyone who asks for it.

Is there any chance they did not steal your razor?

The countif answer is the easy one. Lookups are for returning a value, you just need to see if it’s in the list.

During that training he was shown a Tesla Dealership Agreement. It stated that to be a Tesla Dealer you HAD to install a large pool (3M deep) to enable you to safely tackle any battery related ‘thermal event’

Lithium battery fires are hard to extinguish and can reignite hours after they appear to have burned out, I imagine that’s a sensible precaution when dealing with any EV.

I’d rather meet at home than a random carpark honestly. If it was the other way round we’d have a thread asking if the bike was stolen because they want to meet at Tesco.

I use a Rift for gaming. Take up for sim use is a lot higher than general gaming, any racing or flight sim would be expected to have VR support now.

There’s some companies selling VR/AR headsets for professional use but it’s still early days. Curious where Apple are going with it as they don’t seem like a company to join in on new technology (at least not recently).

Try Barclays. Thankfully never had to use mine but they were far cheaper than anyone else.

Yeah you can only get membership from the forestry commission for the parking now. £80/year doesn’t seem worth it for the amount I’m likely to go.

    Not allowed.
But they have built a free car park at the end of it. Obvs gets full quickly on a weekend.

So the same as it used to be? Last time I tried they’d put logs across the old parking spot.

    That’s shit.

Something similar happened in some local woods a couple of years back, apparently the solution to off road vehicles damaging the trail is to drive heavy machinery all over it and tear down trees.

About a day. I had 3 people express an interest and wanting to negotiate on price. Then a 4th person just bought it at the buy it now price.

Sounds to me like you listed something rare at a fair price and had lots of interest. People likely have alerts set up for new listings.

You might get a slap on the wrist from ebay for giving buyer A external contact details but I don’t think you’re being scammed.

I’m questioning the taste of the people who think pouches of microwave rice are a good alternative. Probably costs more than a rice cooker after about 10 meals too.

I have a tiny one from VonShef that does 1 or 2 portions at a time. Wouldn’t work for a family but takes up very little space.

As to why, it’s just convenient if you want to eat rice a lot. Why have a toaster or a kettle?

Are you sure you’d need a number plate for a Saris rack? I’ve been able to fit them in ways that don’t obscure the plate and lights.

Weather forecasting is a service though? What use is the app with yesterday’s weather on it? 😂

There are cases where it makes sense, yes. Then there’s things like Adobe software and You Need A Budget where a one off purchase for the current version is no longer an option and you’re required to subscribe to future updates you may not want or need.

Companies have realised they can make far more money selling a service instead of a product.

I’m really liking the idea of a MK3 MR2, they seem to be less prone to rot and the slightly left fuel choice which appeals to me. Also mid/rear engine is a very cool selling point.

They seem a bit more expensive than they were but your budget should get you a nice one. You’d probably want the facelift version (2003-2006). If you think you’ll want a hardtop try to buy a car with one because getting hold of the fitting kit later can be expensive.

From memory the major issues to look out for were the rear subframe being prone to rust (it’s underneath the engine and water can drip through) and the earlier models having a potentially serious engine problem.

It’s not a powerful car but it doesn’t really need to be when it’s so light, they’re great fun to drive if you’re happy to keep it at higher rpms, and comfortable enough for cruising on the motorway (quite noisy even with the roof up though).

MR2 is fun, I’d have another one if I could have an impractical car. Less cramped for the driver than an MX5 of the same age too.

For gaming it’s not a gimmick, I got my rift set up again recently and still love it. Unconvinced by other uses so far.

Are you playing standalone or do you have a PC you can connect it to? If you’re into any driving or flight sims, or Elite, they’re amazing in VR.

Blade and Sorcery has a quest version ( definitely not child friendly). Superhot VR is a very good short game too.
