Seems reasonable on the surface, if it means focus on instances where they can actually do something. Of course that’s a big if, but I imagine confrontations make it a lot more complicated, and sharing on social media means 3rd parties reporting the same incident. It’s not a petition.

Using paypal payments for collection in person has as much protection as any ebay purchase now – collection code so buyer can’t claim not received.

It’s still a private sale for a used bike and you can’t return it, but could presumably refuse to accept it and have ebay reverse the payment if it’s not as described when you go to collect.

Coming back to AV: modern HDMI cables are certified.  If it’s got the hologram (and it’s not counterfeit) then a £5 Amazon Basics “Ultra High Speed” HDMI cable will perform exactly the same as a £500 one with the sheathing hand-rolled on the thighs of Filipino virgins.

Not sure this is correct, or there’s a lot of counterfeit cables out there. Had a lot of trial and error getting my Oculus Rift working reliably with USB and HDMI extension cables. Finding reliable DisplayPort cables for high refresh rate displays has been difficult too, even when they meet the spec on paper.

Still, those are issues of high bandwidth requirements and i’m sceptical that would be an issue with audio even with cheap cables.

sorry i disagree. If your comparing fix the white balance at daylights for all bulbs

You are correct, I meant pick one setting and use for all bulbs. Just not sure daylight would be the right setting on all cameras.

Ok, that should be relatively simple to do if they’re all in the same place. You need a tripod or stable surface and use the manual controls on the camera.

You’ll want to set the white balance so it’s not correcting for the colour of the bulb. You’ll have to use trial and error to see what looks right but there’s probably a daylight or cloudy setting.

Aperture isn’t too important here, just set it to the same for all the photos. The lowest number should be fine but increase it if the background is too out of focus.

ISO should be set to the minimum unless you’re trying to hand hold it, as long as you can set a long enough shutter speed it will get a cleaner image.

Shutter speed to whatever you need to once you’ve set the above to get the exposure looking right to you.

There isn’t specific gear that does what you want. Cameras don’t process light the same as a human eye and the resulting image is a combination of decisions made by you and the software. Whatever you decide to use will take practice.

Cheap starting point is a tripod with your phone or whatever camera you can find. If it can output raw files and control shutter speed manually that will help. Try out different settings, see how much light you can capture, see what you can do with the resulting image file with  post processing.

I enjoy having an interchangeable lens camera and you don’t need to spend a fortune to get something usable handheld in well lit areas if that’s what you want. People above have covered the various lens and tech options that can help. Chasing the absolute best low light performance will get expensive. For night skies or anything outside of towns and cities you’ll want a tripod anyway.

If you’re buying new then get it from Steam directly, I don’t think anyone’s offering better prices.

It’s a great device if you aren’t expecting to be able to play every game on it. There’s a lot of verified games that work perfectly and a lot of others you can get working with some tweaking.

The OS and hardware feel polished. It’s easy to pick up and play Steam games but you always have the option of switching to desktop mode  to do whatever you want with it. The control configuration is very flexible and can do a decent job at mouse navigation once you get used to the touchpads.

My biggest annoyance so far is inconsistent performance with playstation games. Some are fine, Gran Turismo 2 runs terribly and i haven’t had any luck finding a combination of emulator settings to get it working. The deck doesn’t have the power to brute force acceptable performance like a desktop PC could.

You have to make them at least answer your questions, and in the way we played against the press, and the way we stopped taking risks going forward meant we didn’t ask enough of the right sort. The only consistent one we seemed to ask was whether they could defend against a palpably unfit, immobile 9

Yeah I don’t think it was a good performance overall but neither side produced much in the first half. Problem was Spain adapted and England didn’t seem able to.

How much weight difference will there really be between a gravel bike with suspension and wide tyres and a hardtail?

I’m sure Gareth knows best – but when the team have stumbled into a formation that works & is balanced did he change shape back to 4 at the back.

My ill informed tactical analysis – 3 center backs and wing backs pushing high would have left a lot of space for Spain’s wingers, who were a lot more dangerous than previous opponents. Having the wing backs sit deeper would probably mean starting an extra defensive player, which is a hard call to make. The 5 in previous matches looked like it shifted to a 4 quite fluidly anyway with Saka and Walker playing down the right.

Walker and Shaw seemed to do a really good job of shutting down Williams and Yamal in the first half when they were trying to take them on one-on-one. After half time those two were dropping off and picking up the ball in space or making later runs.

So as someone in the process of buying their first home, with no expert knowledge or convenient builder friends…

What would hiring a builder to do an inspection tell me that a survey won’t? Do surveyors have any skills or experience that a builder might not? How much is hiring various specialists going to cost compared to a survey?

    kelron

Level 2 is the standard recommendation for anything more than a few years old. Afaik level 3 would be if you have some specific concerns and advice I saw from a surveyor is there’s no point doing that “just in case”.

Yeah, so he’s bought them and changed his mind. If you wanted to offer a refund if he sends them back that’s up to you but he can’t just abandon them at the sorting office. You have proof that you sent the item and delivery has been attempted.

Ebay does tend to favour buyers but put the tracking info in and raise it with them if he won’t cooperate (might have to wait 3 days before you can).

Start with providing tracking info, have you had any communication with the buyer to see what their story is?

If it has gone missing you will have to refund and claim it back from royal mail but I’m not sure where you stand if he’s refusing the parcel. I’d be wary of him trying to get the refund and then collect the parcel anyway.

    Dealt with eventually.

Evans customer service just said take it to my nearest store, which isn’t very near. Store was helpful and wanted to inspect it before sending it back to the supplier for repair under warranty, which took a couple of weeks.

No cost to me and no details of what the issue was.

It doesn’t seem to be user serviceable at all. All the manufacturer mentions is greasing the cassette body.

Ignore them and make them cancel it if they aren’t going to fulfill the order. They’re trying to convince you to request the cancellation because it hurts their ebay ratings if they do it.

Shows in search for me now.

My listings appear straight away but maybe there’s some additional checks on new sellers?

If you have any kind of ongoing need to record and work with this data then setting up a database now will make your life a lot easier.

For now, when you create a pivot table in Excel you have the option to add to data model. This will allow you to do a distinct count on the preference field and see which customers only have 1. Not sure of exact steps as I don’t have excel on home PC, google search for excel distinct count if you need it.

Its much harder to trace crypto currency back to an individual and fewer controls on transfers. I’d imagine emptying bank accounts on a large scale gets picked up as unusual activity very quickly.

So, all of you that don’t have a license never watch ‘normal TV’ – like the news etc, everything is streamed ?

Nope, there’s nothing there I want.

I fill in the “I don’t need a TV license” form on the website and they leave me alone, no letters or visits.

Barclays ended theirs, it’s just Aviva now (they provided the Barclays insurance anyway).

I think it still works but you only get 2/3 of the duration now. I last did it a couple of months ago before they made that change.

I bought 4x 3 month xbox live keys, redeemed these (it offered me +1 month free for turning on recurring billing for each one).

I then bought 1 month game pass and used it to convert the time before turning off recurring billing again.

17 months total for about £40.

No problem with the freehub on mine though I did put some grease in to quiet it. It’s far from silent but I haven’t used a turbo before so maybe it’s an improvement on others.

Just FYI it doesn’t come with a block for the front wheel but probably doesn’t need one – the back seems a little lower than with a wheel on if anything.

Can’t tell if it’s V1 or V2 but sounds like the only physical difference is disk caliper clearance – mine fits with 1mm to spare.

Now to find a 10 speed cassette.

Maybe its good if you live in NY. In Kent it won’t even try to give me cycling directions, just says they aren’t available. Google maps isn’t great but at least makes a decent attempt at routing via cycle paths and quiet roads.

Thanks for the responses, so they’re trying to restrict access entirely without following the processes that exist to manage that?

    kelron

Maybe someone can explain for me, does this interpretation of access rights suggest outdoor recreation can’t be monetised at all? Is there any level of investment and work on trail building that would make it appropriate?

I’d love more open access in England but we have bike parks where it doesn’t seem unreasonable they should charge for access. There’s plenty of places with public paths next to or through places you’d otherwise pay to access, and yes it’s quite easy to sneak in without paying if you want to but that’s a problem for the owner rather than visitors.

I get concerns about access rights being eroded but were they ever intended to cover purpose built facilities?

Its hard to go wrong for that kind of work, though I’d stick to the known brands (Dell, Acer, Samsung, LG, Iiyama etc). The things you’ll pay for are colour accuracy, high refresh rate, high resolution which are really not very relevant for you.

I use a 32″ ultrawide which is great if you want windows side by side. I’d get a nice stand as well as the ones they come with usually have very limited adjustment. I’m using one of these for my main screen which frees up a load of desk space and lets me put it a lot higher than most stands allow. 2nd screen is on a fancy hydraulic arm but to be honest it’s not worth the expense unless you really want to move it around a lot.

Ordered a Volt, never used a trainer before. Given I mostly want to keep my fitness up over the winter & don’t have any interest in group rides or racing, is there any reason I should look at Zwift etc instead of watching TV?

When I’ve expressed something similar to managers I’ve found they have the idea of wanting to push me outside my comfort zone. I don’t know if they have a clear idea of what that means or why it would help.

Admittedly I haven’t gone down the route of saying this is an adjustment they need to make for me, but it’s not always as simple as asking.

Quote in the article suggested they’ve taken over the original contract with the supplier, or are claiming they have, and are planning to build more. Definitely seems underhanded if it’s not just buying the one unpaid shipment.

Looks like the forum ate my response. If I’m understanding the layout correctly, Power Query will let you transform it into something much easier to work with. Rather than a column for each sensor you end up with 3 – date, sensor, value. This will be much easier to use with pivot tables, charts and the various analysis tools in Excel.

In a new file, Data > Get Data > From File. Load in the source data table and go to Transform Data. Select all the sensor columns (not the date) and choose Unpivot Columns from the Transform tab.

Cleaning, decorating, repairs – absolutely the landlord’s responsibility before new tenants move in. Not sure how they handle that with the short handover time but maybe go check on it first before moving stuff in as it will be easier to sort any issues while it’s empty.

Utilities – entirely tenant’s choice and responsibility if they aren’t included in the rent. Make a note of meter readings when you get there in case of any issues but generally the tenant can arrange with a new supplier without talking to the old one. My rental agreement just says to notify the landlord and arrange for the account to be transferred back when I leave.
