Back on topic, as a Zeppelin fan of many years I am not a huge fan of Plants solo stuff but at least he has moved on and is doing new things, whereas Jimmy Page sits in his studio re-mastering all the old stuff. Read somewhere he is doing the Yardbirds stuff now-Jeez!

Another shout for The Detectorists. Watched both series when originally aired but even better second time around. got to be one of the best British comedies for years. having worked with a detectorist is so true to life too!

Earthquake Records in Barrow in Furness. As young rockers the owner, Local councillor Derek Brooks, used to all us ‘coalmen’. Bit rich coming from an old hippy type like him.
Loads of import records and stuff we had never heard of. Did concert trips too. Went to my first proper gig wth them, Zeppelin at Knebworth 1979, cost me (or rather my parents) £16!!

Best for me this year have been Wilko Johnson at Manchester O2, Limehouse Lizzy at the Coninental, Preston (brilliant little venue) and The Damned at Manchester Academy (coldest I have ever been in a gig at the start).

One of the main reasons I keep Sky is for Super league games. Where else can these be viewed-apart from the pub!

Thats what I was thinking. WPC said she thought any penalty maybe education course.
Hope you get sorted with wheels. Its all crap you dont want to deal with really eh! Not important compared to a lot of peoples problems I know but rather be thinking about something else

Kicked off process with cycleaid today who seem quite confident. Will get bike checked at LBS, jacket was bought there so should get receipt but no clue where, when or how much for helmet. Just have to get a quote I suppose.

Really sore and stiff this morning but grateful I am able to feel the pain-could have been much worse. Its very scary looking at the front of a car getting closer and closer to your rear wheel. Managed a bit of sleep but not much. Just making a brew and going to ring cycleaid I think. I dont have the drivers insurance details yet so will have to get those off him.
    Thanks for all the advice

Policewoman says the driver is really concerned and would like to speak to me. Not going to do anything until I have checked bike properly and injuries settled down. Have been meaning to join CTC or BC for ages but its a ‘get round to it’ job.
project-will have a look into that thanks

Thanks all for comments. Starting to feel aches in other places now.
Will ask police for copy of cctv-might be tough watching tho!

Been a few times and although a tiring day its brilliant. Last time we watched from the petrol station at the top of Bray hill just after the start line which is pretty good. we also went into the churchyard across the bridge from there which has toilets and food n drink.
The bottom of Bray Hill is awesome but does get busy.
    Enjoy your day-very jealous!

I would recommend Mountain Bike Adventure in Lagos. I know its a bit of a drive, maybe an hour as a guess, but they were very good and have opened loads more trails then when we were there. Like you say its short notice but worth a shot.

Ladybird book of The Dad, several bottles of different beers and a Wile E. Coyote dvd. Plus a big hug from my son (23) which was awsome

    Joshvegas,
I agree but in many areas the lines do get blurry. Personally I have a lot of input into concept work but calcs and FEA are the black magic of the Designers…and some of the Designers will do a bit of draughting up to a level

Nowadays most places class draughtsmen as designers. My place call us TDP (Technical Data Pack) Designers.

Led Zeppelin at Knebworth 1979. As a 15 yo it was an eye opener. Hells Angels with a joint as big as a house and the first time I saw a naked lady that wasnt in a book!
Todd Rundgren was on the bill and various others I had never heard of but he was good. The second weeks gig had New Barbarians (Wood/Richards) would like to have seen them.

No CCTV in Nottingham they could check? Surely the car must have driven through a camera prior to the incident.

My wife fancies a Defender and we have been looking at a place in that area which has some nice looking vehicles. Their name is a direction opposite to SE and has Defender in the name-is that one of the dealers of which you speak?
Email in profile if you dont wish to name them publicly.

Bike was originally 2800 but cos 2016 model is out was knocked down to 2380.
I asked what they could offer me. My own fault probably for not being cheeky. Shouldnt be surprised, I needed a BB urgently and they were the only local place that had one. Marked up at £28-I got it for 27!

You may be better trying to find digs in one of the villages near Barrow-maybe Stainton or Newton. Nice little cycle in to work.

Usually places to stay in Ulverston available which is a far better night out than Barrow and like has been said previously loads of good lanes around there for road riding (Birkrigg and Coast Road, Kirkby Moor etc). Take it you are going to be in BAE? Many keen cyclists in there so loads of local info.
