My mate has a Kawasaki 650 Versys and he loves it. Think it’s a 2017 or 18 so better looker than the older ones, not sure about prices.

Praise where it’s due, we were on the beach last weekend with our 18 month old grandson when a black lab came bounding along towards us focused on Ollie. The dog stopped about 10 feet away staring at him, wagging its tail a and smiling like labs do. It was only when I crouched down and spoke to it that the dog came closer and then just wanted to be close to Ollie. A very well trained dog for a change.

I went through Leigh Day when I was knocked off and they were great. Kept me informed at every stage and got me a decent compo package at the end of it.
As tthew says you really need legal representation if you are injured. Pass them any photos of injuries/damage and don’t speak to the drivers insurance.
Good luck mate and hope your injuries are not serious.

    Jamj,
This time last year I had my own cardiac worries, suspected angina. Fortunately after all kinds of tests I was told it wasn’t so to carry on as normal but the fear is still there when I start pushing myself so I ease up again. It drives me crazy not being able to go as hard as in the past. Obviously not as serious as your issues but I totally understand your frustration and disappointment. I hope you can find a positive outlook to your circumstances and take strength from your kids cos they love you however slow you pedal!
Not sure I have phrased this correctly but it was meant to be supportive. Best wishes pal.

There was us two, my best mate and his girlfriend at ours in a local registry office. After the service we rang our respective parents then told our mates when we went out that night. My mam was a bit teary but that was all. My wifes parents ran away to do it days after the mil had her 21st in 1955 so they couldn’t complain.
We really didn’t want a fuss or to invite relatives we had nothing in common with.
    Grand day out really.

I hear lots of things about Barrow-in-Furness……
And all of it true. I live about 5 miles away and if I didn’t work there I wouldn`t go near the place!

Was with them for years but was always paying over the odds compared to other suppliers. Rang up and agreed a cheaper deal and swap to fibre. Absolutely no change in speed and was tied into a 12 month contract. Rang to say it was no good to me and wanted to leave which they agreed to with no penalty. Turns out I can’t get fibre so should never have been sold it! The n followed weeks of arguing after they billed me for 200 odd quid cancellation. Eventually got sorted but left a nasty taste.
Ended up with Sky which is cheaper but crap!

I have seen Limehouse Lizzy a few times and they never fail to entertain. The fact the singer looks like Phil Lynott has been pumping iron since his death and is from Bolton is beside the point!
saw them in the Continental in Preston which was brilliant. A small intimate venue, was very amusing when they went off prior to the encore and the band were huddled together behind a curtain as if they were playing hide n seek.

We got married in local registry office with only us,my best mate and his girlfriend, and the registrar. Never told anyone as we couldn’t face any fuss with a big do full of guests you haven’t/wont see for years but you have to invite them!
Had the service in the morning then went for a pub lunch. Went home to ‘get changed’, put radio on while busy and Should I Stay or Should I Go by the Clash was on. Probably not the best wedding song but now been married for 28 years so she hasn’t sussed me out yet!

Had a successful cataract op a fortnight ago and my last check-up for angina was all clear, so not a bad couple of weeks!

Thought it was excellent. No idea who to believe in and very intense but loved it. Makes The Bay look like Emmerdale.

    timbog,
I had one of those! did mine up similar then put it into a Harris frame with big bore kit, gas flowed head and Mikuni smoothbore carbs-went like Joe F******! Had about £6000 in it all together and got £750 trade in on a 1987 GSXR 1100 with 700 miles on it. By far a better bike. The changes between a 1981 sports bike and a 1987 were massive.

Wanted to see Thunder for years after hearing reports of brilliant gigs and finally got to see them last year. Travelled from Cumbria to see them at Hammersmith and was drastically underwhelmed. Just another rock band I thought. Still like the music and like you say Flashy, Danny has a great set of lungs but my illusions were shattered!

What a cracking do! Hutch is so normal and down to earth but I cannot begin  to imagine how tough he is to do the things he has with basically a useless leg. A proper star. Doesnt like Guy Martin tho!

Dirk, I haven’t read all the threads so may be repeating stuff but…In May I walked out of work as I could see no point being there at all. Crap task in an office with no crack at all. Went to docs, broke down in tears feeling dreadful. She prescribed tablets and fresh air and exercise. Also referred me to First Step counselling. Never took the pills but took 5 weeks off work, cycled, walked and motorcycle loads, got tons of jobs done and felt much better. The counselling was an on line thing after an initial phone chat and it gave me useful tools to help with moods and thoughts.

Would deffo recommend it. And as for work, completely disregard it until you feel right. Life and loved ones are all that matters.

Best of luck mate. You will get through it!

Tomboy, that was my big concern when I heard. There is no way a rider should be able to come into contact with a course vehicle. I think race control and the marshals do a fantastic job but there was obviously a flaw in procedures there. RIP Dan and best wishes to Steve Mercer and both families.

Thanks for the replies all, really appreciated.

Have decided to hang fire with the pills for the moment. As my wife pointed out last night I have not been riding my bike anywhere near as much as usual and was drinking four nights in a row last weekend. Last May I had a full on bawling my eyes out breakdown at my nephews wedding and had to leave. For two days I couldn’t do anything then put in an effort to cycle more and up until last weekend I have been fine.

I really do need the exercise endorphins I think, so with more riding, the talking and using the NHS Choices tips, hopefully I can avoid drugs.
