I got the Halfords one in the link, with the extra 10% off, it works fine. No problem with handles missing, bike security or noise, but I only use it in the garage. Bargain for under 70 pounds.
I shall now be spending many sweaty hours grunting away in the garage – ooh err missus.

This year I shall be mostly drinking Harviestoun Ales, notably Schiehallion lager and “Bitter & Twisted” – suits me.

+1 for “The Trouble with Harry”

Not seen it in ages, never seems to be on these days.

I got a Park TS8 recently and it works just fine for truing, dishing and tensioning. Nice and heavy, so it doesn’t need fixed to anything. It was on offer at Merlin for 70 quid, but they seem to be out of stock just now. I’d recommend it.

I got an ASUS Iconia for 100 quid with 20 cashback, works ok. Had it for 4/5 months now and incidentally, that’s how long it took before I actually got the 20 quid back in to my account – but I wasn’t letting it go !

Cheers dirtydog, I knew there’d be someone out there within the Singletrack massif who would have the knowledge. Excellent, derailleur ordered, you should claim your wiggle commission !

Vax, they have a six year guarantee and a superb replacement service. We just got our 3 year old machine replaced with a completely new model for £3.99 admin charge.

Is it a 142+ 12mm hub ? I had one self-destruct on my Camber after 4 months. Unfortunately, one month beyond Specializeds 3 month free hub warranty. If it’s one of these, only replaceable by the Specialized part which is a cheapo JoyTech free hub and you need a 14mm Allen key. Get a new rear wheel.

As CP says, get the calliper set up so that the pads are as close as possible to the disc. They’ll then be good enough to outstrip the available grip from the tyres. The bike works surprisingly well off road.

Turned them tubeless on my new Camber using Stans rim strips. It was dead easy, managed to inflate them just using a track pump.
The Camber has a 2.3 on the front and 2.1 on the rear, they work ok on just about everything, even thick gloop. More grip tubeless than tubed, as you’d expect.

    Do it.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry petrieboy, but I’ve already ordered my SIM. Thanks anyway.

    Looks like we’re going GiffGaff.

I believe that you can go up to 160mm. I currently run 150mm RS Air Sektors and apart from a slight topout knock they work great. The head angle didn’t slacken out too much and it still climbs as well as I do.

Well done fetcas, excellent resource. I’ll now have to learn how to use the GPS on my phone and upload routes round Fife, Kinross & Stirling.

    Cheers

Just got my jacket in L, usually I’m between a M & L, the L fits perfectly, sleeves are a nice bike-friendly length. Thanks for the original post, sam2391, and the discount code, zangolin. My missus thanks you too, now she doesn’t have to buy me anything for my xmas.

    Cheers

Couldn’t resist either, look forward to seeing what I get for the money. At £37 all it needs to do is last until spring.

ps Thanks for the code Zangolin.

Looking forward to the results of your spreadsheet, which is probably only slightly less sad than creating it in the first place.

Could be an angle of seat, angle of seat tube thing or just a tolerance thing with my post.

Hey ho, it works now and I can get it up(or down) with just a gentle squeeze between my legs (ooh missus)

it goes all the way down to just behind the toilet block but is only properly made for the first 20meters.

Is it rideable all the way back up to the start of The Runway?

Another vote for the Genesis, I've had an 853 tubed and a 520 tubed one – excellent geometry, do everything hardtail. Just dump the Conti tyres.
