feast your eyes on my Bow-ti

Do those wooden supports come as standard 😀 🙂

Thought they could make them more in keeping with the frame. 😛

Yes but to be fair Joe was prepared for the conditions he was in, no reason you should not also prepare for the conditions you encounter while riding in the UK. Simon and he only got into trouble as they ran out of gas (maybe an aspect of carrying enough of the right stuff) so had to move when they should have/wanted to wait out the storm.

Though MTB in the UK is not alpinism in Peru there is no reason not to prepare for the conditions. Hypothermia, trauma or weather dont really care who or where you are.

A "pop" suggests a more significant disruption of the ligament tissues, however it does not guarantee a full tear so don't panic. However, with any real damage to a ligament (Grade II onwards) you are looking at a minimum of 8 weeks for healing to occur fully and longer if the injury is particularly severe or complicated. Get it checked as soon as you can.

I'd suggest Rest Ice Compression Elevation and anti-inflammatories if you can. Ice the knee for 10-15 minutes per hour (when possible) to minimise inflammation and pain. As for assessment an orthopod would be good (essential for a full tear) but unless your private the referral time will cost you a lot of time. See your GP for pain control and referral and in the interim wait seriously consider seeing a qualified musculoskeletal specialist – Chiropractor, Sports physio, Osteopath or similar. Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to a full and fast recovery.

    Wish you the best 🙂

Can you not enjoy both for what they are and simply ride them for the pleasure of getting out on your bike and spending time in the company frends?

Or does this create a paradox that would engulf the world in an apocolypse as the purists on both sides melt down in a critical mass of intolerance and bigotry?

If you simply refill through the valve with the core out the tyre really should not unseat at all.

If you unseat just a small 3-4 inch section of the tyre to clean inside as suggested you should have no problem reseating the bead as most of the tyre will be sealed already and not leak air as you pump like a maniac to reinflate – pop the bead back in:)

I usually remove a section of the bead from rim not to clean up/save a few grammes in weight but just to get an idea of how much milk i need to replace.

i did not go for light for 2 main reasons, i am heavy so the grammes i save with ££ are a fraction of what i'd save if i ride my bike more and drink less.. i can at least "ride more" the second option is not likely 😛 .

Secondly i am never going to be little and have a bad habit of breaking things no matter how hard i try not to so i buy bombproof and if its light its as an an afterthought.

So for me its Light, cheap, strong pick two – or just get bombproof. I think the lighter the better but its diminishing returns for your wonga and choice of bike gear depends as much on the riders conformation, riding style/skill and terrain. Bling/tarty bike/bragging rights also have major influences on this topic, its our hobby and our cash so fill ya boots and do what makes you happy. As long as your happy who cares 🙂

5.1 rims are fine in my experience with both Joes rimstrips and ghetto, tyre choice seems to be the critical issue – all maxxis so far are good for me (highroller, advantage, roller xc). Sadly conti Verts were impossible and had me quite stressed out.

I find a track pump works fine "if" the tyre is ok.

    Hope that helps.

They have supplied c slips for 20mm adapters as I lost mine and also replaced a Head Bolt all free of charce and posted /arrived withing 48 hours. Iused torque wrencch in fit of enthusiasm to follow the manual to the letter and sheared the 1st one.

Love the way HUGE group is actually only 15 friends riding together. A simple "excuse me" would have worked and in my experience be met with a "sorry mate".

Instead its a thread that now has 15 people transforming into 40 and taking up half a mile of road on a 15 yard section of road between 2 entry/exit points at a trail centre.

Let alone the use of "ridiculously bright helmet light"s for night riding… i mean its not like you want to see when its a dark uneven trail you are riding.

I agree get over it. Oh and i was not there just gathering info from what has already been posted and laughing at some peoples changing of facts to suit their preconceptions.

I have a pair of seal skinz wind and waterproof gloves. No insulation and they have lasted me so far for 3 years cycling and are also my ski gloves of choice unless it gets "really" cold. I run hot but can't stand cold fingers and they do the business for me.

    Hope that helps.

Many thanks Knottie for breaking my Quantocks cherry, was superb and look forward to next time. Knee is recovering well and a new helmet is already on order.

Good day with great company, many thanks to everyone.
