CTI are now Allsports[/url]. Expensive but very strong and extremely good support with flexibility on degrees of movement/support. I went for them not for feedback and reviews from MTB but from Motorcross as i wanted the greatest degree of support realisticaly possible.
I wont ride without mine after smashing my right wrist. Lot of money for the pair but comfy to ride in I (dont realise im wearing them till i need them. Guess it depends on your outlook but cheap for the money if they prevent one broken wrist in the future. 6-8 weeks off work will cost a lot more!
KamikirkFree Memberi use stans strips and Joes wheel milk on my DT5.1 hope wheels. Trackpump on and no problems – though Maxxis seem to be my goto tyres, contis and WTB were hell dcespite most sites saying conto are fine..

Better than the tadpole if only because of clever marketing my MH vs NF – Viperine is a snake that eats Tadpoles 😆KamikirkFree MemberStrain is the clinical term for a torn, pulled over stretched muscle. Overload causes the muscle to exceed its breaking point resulting in damage – or strain. They are gradeed according to the degree of damage to the muscle.
More info here Strains
KamikirkFree MemberAs you suggested Litewave Great stuff – and British (in a via China kind of way) Great gear and 2mans are also superb kit.
Or
I know its offically 2 man and 2.16kg but it can be put up fly 1st then hook in the liner. Great tent i think and nice option to go flysheet only and Pitchlite for a big weight saving. It's semi geodesic so you really only need 2 pegs saving even more weight unless its truly dreadful conditions.
KamikirkFree Member@Mogrips How does one tear a quad biking?
The quad is the muscle on the front of your leg and when recruited extends the knee (straightens the leg) so cycling by repeatedly using the muscle can cause it to strain – simples.
Opposingly runners get hamstring strains as its their main muscle.. well if you grossly simplify it all anyways.
KamikirkFree MemberI wear a Ion jacket and love it. I run hot and find unless its truly bucketing down the water that does get in warms up nicely but i avoid that clammy overheated feeling of a full shell. In winter i tend to carry both as at 150g or so its not an issue to carry the Ion stuffed in a pocket and a waterproof shell in my pack.

Afraid he's not. Perhaps it was the manner you asked?Maybe you and your team should think of others and not be selfish. Getting attitude because you have Pi$$ed someone off by running a generator when you are not supposed to is not really that suprising. Particularly during a 24hour event when people are fatigued, need rest and are metally challenging themselves… or maybe that is your excuse for being inconsiderate in the first instance 🙂
I also heard your genny and thought it was out of order.
Despite all though was an incredible weekend, awesome course and a great feel for a newcomer to enduros. Will be back next year.
KamikirkFree MemberWas about to post the same link as Houns.
Pedant in me feels the need to point out that Persimmon allows 55% light transmission Fire Iridium only allows 16% so a huge difference.
Fire iridium is a very dark tint so suits v.bright days. Persimmon is a good all rounder but will be too bright on very sunny days.
KamikirkFree MemberCould try a simple Windproof, not waterproof but "showerproof" what rain does come in is no worse than the sweat that bulids up in a full waterproof for me. I do tend to be very sweaty however.
So long as you keep moving it's warm, damp/wet but warm, and the windproof aspect means you dont freeze on descents or due to windchill. No full shell breathes enough for me to wear on a bike without becoming boil in the bag.
KamikirkFree MemberThe loss of the MJ is so so. In the end if the GC is won by Bert over Andy by 38secs or less then today was an issue. However with the next few days and the TT i think it will swing one way or the other by a larger margin so be irrelevant.
Andy having to push a bit harder today effects him but as Sean Kelly said all the main GC contenders were up there pushing hard Andy to catch up, Bert, Menchov etc to put time into Andy.
Andy is now 8 sec behind not 8 minutes so bad sportsmanship or ignorance from Bert, Schleck is still well up in the running and iots not over yet.
KamikirkFree Memberwhy bother posting it if it's so big that no sod can be arsed to download it?
+1
KamikirkFree MemberMaybe it's just because I'm fit and used to walking up hills lots that I dont get pain in my legs when out hillwalking.
Or maybe you are walking too slowly 😛
Oh and any hope of a link or details to an abstract of your wifes study? I'm curious as to its parameters, methodology etc as EMG activity is not the sole factor in gait biomechanics afaik..
KamikirkFree MemberI feel your pain, i punctured every ride pretty much. That was before tubeless and recently had some woes with side wall splits and tubless.. currently that bike is behaving again…
So naturally i'm having other issues with my second bike.. 🙂
KamikirkFree Memberthats the ticket, dont have any spacers with the brakes so causing clearance issues. Have added a few m5 galvanised washers but even with 4 on both bolts was still having clearance issues.
Loking at that picture the spacers that come with the brakes are pretty large, have contacted the seller in the hope of getting the spacers that oroginally came with the brakes i bought. If that fails where is a good cheap place for washers as B&Q were 2.80 for 10 galvanised M5 washers which is not a cheap fix.
KamikirkFree MemberPhysio, osteopathy and Chiropractic can all help, but will not generally solve the root cause of the problem, as if the disk has ruptured then there is nothing short of Surgery that will sort it out.
Actually id suggest the opposite, Chiro, physio etc deal with the root cause and surgery deals with the consequence!
I also think you underestimate the bodys ability to heal. Surgery should be the last resort for a disc. Resecting parts of the disc, although the best course for some cases, will further weaken the motion segment and though short term will be the fastest and most comfortable solution will often weaken the spine long term.
Restoring proper mechanics and mobility to the joints and improving muscle strength will ensure the damaged area is functioning as normally and healthily as possible long term. Most disc problems develop gradually due to accumulation of strain-trauma causing gradual weakening ending in acute failure. If you can restore the function of the muscles, joints and improve your ergonomics you can massively reduce the stresses on the damaged structures allowing suprising results to achieved.
Just to reiterate i am not saying discectomy or similar is bad just that if you can resolve the condtition without turing to the knife you can achieve a better long term outcome.
That is my opinion anyway 😉
My suggestion would be seek conservative care with a qualified professional and if that does not resolve the condition then consider surgical options, which are excellent these days but should not be the first solution.
KamikirkFree MemberBroken 2 so far and they have been fantastic. Big impacts and no damage to me just a lot of cracks in the helmet as expected and a crazy paving effect in my wrist/radius due to a comminuted fracture.
One replaced my Madison no issues, quick and easy once i could write a cheque with my buggered wrist 🙂
KamikirkFree MemberThe nerve may be impinged anywhere from the neck itself to the wrist. Dont assume it is Carpal / Cubital tunnel only that can cause numbness or pins and needles.
Brant if your issues came on after a clavicle fracture its quite possible you have Thoracic outlet syndrome not cubital tunnel, same for others that get issues that are unrelated to wrist or elbow position.
Long term effects of trapped nerves vary from healing naturally eventually to permenant loss of that nerves function (be it sensation or motor control).
Thought i'd do my best to answer a few questions raised in the thread.
KamikirkFree MemberMy only complaint about my Stifee is i break long before it does!
Bombproof bike, can do far more than i can.
KamikirkFree Member40psi tubeless – side wall went so not using them anymore. Was 2.1 folding.
KamikirkFree MemberFriday night, 10pm (ish) after a hard week of work, perhaps with a glass or two of wine inside hm (I don't know), Mark reads this, what do you think he's going to say?!
I'd expect him to say nothing. I would expect him to be at the pub or at home chilling out, not reading about work specially if it's been a hard week. 😀
KamikirkFree MemberSleepmonsters Guide – good as always
I have also read but sadly can't recall the link that in any endurance event there is a finite amout of enery you can onload/utilise and you will never be able to replace all the calories used during sustained activity. This is mentioned obliquely in the above link.
The aim of mid actvity fueling is to minimise how much you dip into the bodies reserves by catabolsim of the muscles which over time will naturally impair performance. So post activity nutrition is of paramount importance, mid activity is minimising the harm.
KamikirkFree MemberIf you take the "Guns & Ammo" line – There is no overkill – if it is dead its done the job as required. The only issue is underkill where what you have is not up to the task in hand.
My Stiffee is definitely more capable than me but i love it and despite my best efforts I can't break it – So it does all i need it to and im happy as larry.
KamikirkFree MemberIm fond of Hound to Grimspound, back over Bowermans way to i dunno. Tim and the guys took me that way last year and it was fun and incredibly beautiful.. tad too hot a day but the Bluebells were fantastic.
Come June hope to do it again and explore more.. <looks for fast forward button> 🙂

KamikirkFree MemberBorked as too many updates before i added totals for me and chucky – popular thread it seems!
KamikirkFree MemberMy sinecere condoloncies Jim, we are both **** with broken wrists it seems – still it's early enough in the season we wont miss out totally. can't wait for June.
KamikirkFree MemberHave a simlar break myself "volar bartons" fracture, painful and it's a week since i also had some shiny Titanium goodness added to my bones. Sadly nothing like Wolverine or i'd never fear falling again.
You have my complete sympathy. 8 weeks in plaster and the Orthopod who treated me told me no impact based sports for 12 weeks… buggers biking and Rugby.
Ho hum.
KamikirkFree MemberRun tubeless? I went tubeless purely as I punctured so much and it ruinied rides and was silly on repair kits/tubes.
Maybe also check your rim valve hole for burrs or take more care of valve area when fitting.
No idea on tubes however.
KamikirkFree MemberBroke my right wrist yesterday (9 mth after breaking the left). Hoping the matched pair will end this trend now. Getting it pinned tomorrow so no riding for 6 weeks at least 🙁
Must try to ride according to skill level not enthusiasm. I will learn eventually!
KamikirkFree MemberMaxxis Highroller 2.35(60a) front and Highroller XC(60a) 2.1 rear. Seems good so far.
Was on advantage 2.1 rear which was way bigger but side wall split on a road ride and lost confidence in it's durability.
