What use is a motor though without a battery ?
Plenty of room in that setup to increase the size of the downtube with minimal change to both the HT & BB lugs.
KamakazieFull MemberBit difficult without knowing what you consider reasonably priced or ethical but here’s a few more that haven’t been mentioned (all of which I’ve had well made products from, but not always their Polos):
- Two Thirds
- Knowledge Cotton
- Peregrine
A bit on the fence w.r.t ethical credentials but material sources are seem ok:
- Selected Homme
- Isobaa (merino)
- Sunspel
- Paul Smith
Ones I’ve not tried but have (or had when I last looked) decent reputation:
- A Day’s March
- Far Afield
KamakazieFull MemberNot a bike I’m interested in, but hoping to see a shorter travel, somewhat lighter 140-150mm version.
The suspension layout around the BB looks suspiciously like it’s been setup to accommodate a motor in a future revision.
KamakazieFull MemberGT Zaskar for me but more to do with how much I coveted it as a teen before finally buying one, than how it actually rode.
In terms of bikes I think of as iconic, most have been mentioned several times (UK hardcore hardtails, Chameleon etc), but one I was expecting more love for is the Rocky Mountain Blizzard which would definitely make my list.
Not iconic, but probably the best hardtail I rode was a Commencal Supernormal which, despite being an XC leaning bike, did all that i asked of it at the time in a very engaging way.
KamakazieFull MemberTransylvania is a stunning place to visit and there’s lots of riding to be had of various types
Slovenia is another place I’d recommend.
KamakazieFull MemberI really liked The Peripheral (never read the books), and was disappointed to see in cancelled. Hard to blame Netflix for an Amazon show decision though.
It does seem an increasing issue that decent sci-fi shows, which really drive adoption of the platforms, don’t seem to last. As Netflix, Amazon and the like increase subscriptions they seem to do less of what I actually like watching, rather than more.
KamakazieFull MemberMoney Saving Expert have some good info on this.
Basically, the less invested, the less likely you are to achieve the headline 4.4% returns, and on average the lower you returns will be. That said, some people have won the top prize with a few hundred or less invested so their returns are unbeatable!
KamakazieFull MemberDefinitely look at the Curas if you can get them in budget. They are excellent.
And if you do find yourself in darkest Wales, the UK distro is near Merthyr so you can always go there.KamakazieFull MemberCurrently watching Fool Me Once – my wife seems to like it, but I think it is utter and complete bobbins. Bloody awful.
As is everything Netflix has done that is based on the work of Harlan Coben. If you like one, you’ll like the rest as they are set in the same sorts of communities, with the same sort of characters with rarely believable actions / motives.
KamakazieFull MemberI’ve still not seen any ads. If it’s anything like Freevee, you can go 3 episodes without seeing any.
That said, I’ll be cancelling and picking up a 3 months at a time every so often. Gonna rotate around the various services for a while.
KamakazieFull MemberTK Maxx / HomseSense usually have a selection of crystal tumblers and more palatable prices if you don’t want to buy S/H
KamakazieFull MemberIf you have space behind the bottle mounts then this works well:

KamakazieFull MemberOne of our group had one of these for a while and it looked brilliant. Their stock photos don’t do it justice.
KamakazieFull MemberThe pre 5Ten rubber Adidas Trail cross lasted me ages so if the new ones are as good but strickier they would be hard to beat.
Currently got Northwave Clans which have been great so far, and more grippy. They are a touch narrow though.
KamakazieFull MemberI think there are several reasons why their sales could have suffered but everybody’s needs differ.
When I was looking around 2019/20 the Stage 6 I test rode was brilliant. Light, lively, nimble and really well balanced. They were one of the first to balance longer reaches with proper length chainstays.
On the flip side, they’ve since gone too far imo making overly long bikes that are too speed focussed and lack some of the qualities I liked.
They also seem to have been playing catch-up on useful features like the bottle mounts (important for me like many others) and bike storage. Coming late to market with something really quite.ugly and of unnecessary complexity that would have been better served by a second set of mounts and made to measure storage bag.
Still somewhat regret not getting that Stage 6 though.
Here’s hoping they are able to continue operating, I think the sport would be poorer for their absence.
KamakazieFull MemberI’ve had a couple from Peregrine which have been awesome quality.
KamakazieFull MemberI’d thoroughly recommend a set of good powered or active stereo speakers. A few have been mentioned already e.g Edifier. There are tonnes of good ones out there now.
Elipson Facet 6b BT are what I got. They are quality hifi speakers and they even have a phono stage for your turntable.
You’d need something else to stream from your computers if they don’t have Bluetooth though, unless you do that through your phone.
KamakazieFull MemberI think they are great. I always really liked having the sand colour Marz AM1s on an all black frame.
Planning on some ultra violet Formula’s next as well.
KamakazieFull MemberI got a heavy duty workbench on wheels from here which is a very solid beast. They seem to do a fairly big range of options with storage as well:
KamakazieFull MemberWe’ve started using sheets.
Seem to clean just as well as the liquids / powders we used before (Ecover, BioD and a few others zero waste place powders). Also don’t leave the same residue or stale smell, although that might be more to do with a better outlet pipe.
We won’t be going back.
KamakazieFull MemberI have a Trakke which is great https://trakke.co.uk/collections/waxed-canvas-backpacks
Heavy waxed canvas made in Scotland. Very well made at that, comfortable and the small bag has a useful number of partitions & a zip pocket.
1KamakazieFull MemberThey are a bunch of basic questions which basically ensure you are aware that you’ve no financial protection, it’s high risk and you shouldn’t be investing large amounts of your net worth in such assets.
I don’t see the problem, the FCA ensuring exchanges aren’t conning you & that investors haven’t been conned by others is good for the future stability of the market.
KamakazieFull MemberLomo holdall dry bags are great for this.

KamakazieFull MemberA view that has been reflected by many people I’ve talked to about politicians (who they have worked closely with) in charge of functions is that the best ones are generally those that don’t come with preconceived ideas, and as such are more willing to listen to the civil servants.
As such I am much less keen on suggesting SoS need to have experience in the area they are in charge of, because it’s evident from others that this can actively hinder their ability to be objective. My take is that what makes a good minister / SoS is the personality, and lack of preconceived ideas or agenda other than to improve the function / service provided.
KamakazieFull Member3rd Rock do since nice trousers for climbing etc.
Not tried the jeans and they might have a bit too much stretch but worth a look.
KamakazieFull MemberGlad they are offering a cheaper plan with just Eurosport stuff rather than all the BT SPort stuff.
That said, the cheaper way I found was an EE Mobile plan that comes with a ‘free’ extra, which can be TNT sports. Since the move from BT to TNT it’s actually cheaper as there is no £5 surcharge for ‘big screen’ apps.
KamakazieFull MemberSmart radiator valves? Nah. Just get regular TRVs.
These 2 ‘heat geek’ videos might be of interest OP
Their sums appear to be based on unrealistic assumptions. In the last scenario they have room temps maintained at 18c despite the rads being off. A 3c fall off between rooms with rads on and those with them off? Maybe with a fan blowing through an open door, but not in any house I’ve ever been in.
Utilising this means the calculated property heat loss is much higher in those rooms than reality and as such the calcs are out.
I t’s definitely more complicated than I imagined, but I don’t think the articles calculate using realistic scenarios so it’s hard to trust the conclusions.
That said, why are regular TRVs better in these scenarios than smart ones? If anything wouldn’t they be worse as with smart ones that can call for heat & temp offset appropriately, demand is kept more consistent?
KamakazieFull Member14+ of the 2023 list race WCDH.
In 2022 you had 2 top 5 overall (Kolb & Kerr) plus Junior overall (Goldstone) plus this year’s DH World Champ. If Goldstone was fit you’d have had 3 of the Mont St Anne podium on the 2023 list.
Whilst certainly not all the fastest riders, there’s generally decent representation. Do they ever invite Monster sponsored athletes as that removes a few as well?
I imagine most at that level would ride the course but can see many deeming it not worth the risk when they are pushing for overall, podiums or just to stay on the dwindling number of teams!KamakazieFull MemberPerhaps, though I don’t see how the stem being further forward forces your centre of mass to move forward in any significant way. With the bars closer, you can more easily go deeper into the ‘attack’ position. Moving the bars further away makes it harder, and is more likely to result in just having straighter arms.
As most weight goes through the pedals anyway, bikes really should have been increasing chainstay length to compensate for longer front centres, but it’s taken a while for that to catch on. At least we’ve moved away from articles asking for longer reaches when front end grip is a problem.
KamakazieFull MemberI don’t see how. The closer a contact point is to your centre of mass, the easier it is to apply a force to it.
KamakazieFull MemberRed Bull are still a major sponsor of WCDH & it’s riders so it’d be a dangerous game to try banning something like this whilst it isn’t directly competing (in terms of dates, exposure etc).
KamakazieFull MemberMortis gods
Isn’t Ahsoka meant to be the daughter, or some link to at least, after the Clone Wars episode?
Followup will be her taking on that mantle perhaps.
Edit: I enjoyed it but….
– the audio was so quiet. The quietest yet on Disney which already has issues with consistency
– Ahsoka came across as a bit weak in the fighting department a few times which is not what I expect given previous appearances
2KamakazieFull MemberI thought exactly the same. Kevin clearly loves the architect given how many times they got a mention by name. However, selling the customer a vision of what they can’t afford is a breach of their duties in my mind.
My experience is that they have no idea how much stuff really costs to build, or certainly didn’t keep pace with cost rises in trades & then materials.
We had quite at 150% and 210% of budget from builders, and another architect suggesting it could be done for 50%….
Best catch up with this series, always a good watch.
3KamakazieFull MemberThe limit is irrelevant to me, it’s the deceit, the lying and wilful ignoring of wishes of the electorate is what bothers me.
Wishes of the electorate? They were voted in with this in their manifesto.
That is the will of the electorate. Not some online petition with limited validation that a signatory is legitimate or even lives in Wales.
And where are the lies again?
All this frothing from the usual bunch of snowflakes.
1KamakazieFull MemberI’ve liked the look of most of their split swing-arm bikes, and this isn’t bad either.
I really don’t like the ones with the stash box thing though, they’d have been better doing something to allow for another set of bottle mounts specifically for small bags or straps.
