    I’ve still got mine

And through what adventures that frame has been 😎 (p.s. good to see Mr PP on the forum)

or any descents that would require a full face helmet at armour

Maybe not, but the drops on the Caddon Bank descent at Innerleithen are a fair size and you can go a long way off them if you were shifting.

/edit – they do have chicken lines.

    I’ve not fitted a helicoil but…

be wary of buying the longest helicoil that you think you can – the tapping tool will not cut fully formed thread right to the very tip, so you will not have as much length as you think.

The common rule of thumb is that 2 x D of thread is as strong as the bolt, so you’re unlikely to need a full 3 x D unless you think that is compensating for a poor quality of connection.

FWIW we use helicoils in nearly all aluminium threads when we design/manufacture stuff, it’s going to be used by spanner wielding numpties and makes a much more robust bolted connection.

actually, if this is what the insert looks like then I would definitely getting something in there without fully removing it. Maybe drilling multiple holes to inject a suitable epoxy…

Just interrupted the BBC radio broadcasts for it. RIP.

The agreement seemed to be the insert needed taking out completely, a bigger hole drilling in the crank then pinned, filled and bonded back in.

This is what I would do (and what I did do while repairing my frame).

I have an open tube of Araldite 2031 that I chose for the job. If I can find it again I can put it in the post but you’ll need your own applicator gun.

As much as I’d like to ditch facebook… the van forums and enthusiast groups have replaced the online forums of old and are a great way to sell parts to a specialist and local market.

Thanks to Wibble for that link – at least my Water supplier are signed up and that’s one that I know is running nearby.

I’d bet either would be ok. The smaller one might take a bit of paint off the frame. The larger one might need doing up pretty tight to get to work, but you can always add a layer of tin foil for a shim?

Thanks all, including the words of caution.

Water and drainage search is likely it.

As much as I love swinging my mattock and digging holes, I expect that whatever plans I come up with will have to be adjusted to suit what I find underground.

Never had a problem with my Pulsar Kinetic.

It has from time to time, lain unused for years, then takes a few hours to start keeping time.

We love our MacRide. It was a gift, which makes the price less of an issue – I’d have struggled to pay £100 for one until I’d tried one – it really is game changing and my wee ones love it.

I put some left over bar tap on my handlebars for the little ones to hold on to and provide more grip. Careful as it has taken the laquer off when I moved it 😫

Try this lot, I’m pretty happy with my shed. Prices have gone up since mine (18 months ago) so may be up-to-date with all the latest price increases.

suggests closer to £3.5k installed. Needing to prepare the ground and add a base in to the quoute would add significantly to your price.

Mine wasn’t a lot of effort and sounds like it could work for you.

I made 8 x (or 12 x? I can’t recall) pads using 2x2ft paving slabs laid on hard compressed ground. On these I used the plastic levelling feet and on to those I laid my timber frame for the shed to sit on top of.

It sits nicely above the ground and should the ground settle I can jack up the frame and wind out the supports.

I’m not sure what I have on my 2015 Arokose 4? Hydraulic brakes, 10sp 105 rear mech I think?

Haven’t found a spec list yet but “Arkose 4 gets the new Shimano 105 mechanical groupset with the new R685 hydraulic disc brakes. ”

    /edit – it may be 11 speed and that I can’t count.

this is about business going out of their way to sell avoidance schemes to people.

Well, it is an article from the Times…. wonder why the specifically highlighted that NHS nurses are using these services? They wouldn’t have an agenda to push would they?

A rug or a chunk of Lino/Vinyl? You could get a tile pattern that even looks like a patio.

I’d try looking at the sort of shops that do camper, boat or narrow boat furniture… that might lead you in the right direction? Good luck.

If you silicone seal, take care to not create a water trap that will go mouldy very quickly.

Silicone seal, few drops of glue might be better, or maybe remove, make sure it’s all clean and dry then it might hold.

Mine has a good cut, decent breathability and gets hammered on the MTB. Not the most waterproof though. My first one was leaking through the material pretty badly so Alpkit replaced it. My second one has been washed very gently indeed but seems to be heading the same way :-( I will resurrect it with a wash and re-proof and it’s only a MTB jacket anyway but still not mega impressed.

I’m a big Alpkit fan and their fit/cut has improved over what it was 10 years ago but most things are one flaw away from being perfect.

p.s. There are some absolute tools in the that video. That “blockade” of planters with a massive gap enticing people to drive through and collect a fine is absolutely criminal.

However the need to stop the lifestyle that The Car is King and Convenience is King absolutely has to stop. Central govt has to give targets and local govt has to make the chnages that are unpopular.

I live near an estate that has been cut off with similar schemes. My convenience may suffer as I can no longer drive through, but instead I go through that estate running and cycling with the kids far more. It’s a wonderful place to be and others wouls realise the benefit too if they got off their arses and out of the car and off the sofa.

Been a few threads. I nearly bought some Aigle but determined they are the wrong shape for my (narrow) feet.

In the end I got some decathlon ones that I’m happy with – try the various models and try sizing down – I think the S900 has a much better sole for walking than the S500 I settled for – but couldn’t get the S900 at the time

Lazy lawn – great products and sensible prices. We put down some Wonderlawn and the shock pad on to our old concrete yard and it transformed the space. Not sure if they have a product more suitable for your use.

We used a traditional agent to sell our flat and bought through a well reputed and very busy locally based traditional agent. They have loads of buyers and sell their properties quickly.

    As a seller:
Our agent was good, relatively expensive but earned their money.
They got viewings lines up over a short window, did some viewings, we did some and they negotiated the two interested buyers off each other to get us more money.
It was all negotiated and concluded in a week or so.

    As a buyer:
the agent was crap and knew nothing about the property was always late and rushed us. Didn’t have keys to access the whole property (conservatory was locked from inside and we later found was completely unlocked form outside).

We were happy with the traditional way!

I’d agree it’s premature wear, but until it starts leaking oil I don’t think it’s a fault.

Except the stanchions are much more a bearing surface for the sliding, telescoping action of the fork. They’re not significantly an air/oil seal.

I can not for the life of me cut in properly when painting.

I learned the hard way not to leave masking tape on for 2 days, while you get both coats applied. NEarly cried.

Much more satisfying doing it by hand anyway. Get an angled 1 1/2″ brush and a pointed one.

Scientist type here. Also went to a Catholic school, so there was the mandatory RE taking away another choice. I kept French to GCSE but managed to forget enough of it that it was useless by the time I could afford to travel (post degree).

What a modern language choice for me was, a statement that I didn’t believe myself tied to this little island and that I could and would travel and learn wherever I wanted. Have done in the past, will do again, but probably not France. :-p
