    Works on many pedestrians too

I never did get the hang of stopping them from biting me 😐

Your combination of M6x180 countersunk is very, very unusual IME.

I’ve used http://www.titanbolts.co.uk/ in the past for personal stuff, have a looksie.

Curiosity got the better of me, won’t fill your brief there. not that they don’t exist but I’ve never seen a countersink shaped washer before.
Would you be better off using some threaded rod, nuts, plain washers and a special machined cone to fill the countersink?

No sure what you’re doing with the quotes there bro.

FWIW having tried HR2s once, for an all-round trail tyre I’mm probably have a go with minion DHF2/DHR2 combo next time I go Maxxis.

Just to chip in as well to clarify, iSpec B doesn’t give you a rotational degree of freedom between the shifters and brake lever.

It does give you adjustment to move the pair inboard/outboard form each other.

It’s cheaper for i-spec because there are no indicators and you can’t fit them when mounted i-spec style.

Had mine 6 months on the front now, a 2.4 3C, no more wear than I’d expect tbh and ridden 2-3 times per week in the Tweed Valley – so plenty of rocks etc.

    26″ or 27″?

I hardly think of myself as the gnarliest rider but I destroyed a rear in a few months. Front was looking pretty bad after 6 months. Mates killed them much quicker (both 27.b” x 2.4). Tweed valley riding is comparable to what we were riding too, just wetter & muddier.

Yep, had that. Everyone I know running the 3C compound had that.

Some slower riders get really stressed at the thought of holding others up and end up not enjoying the ride, hence leaving the gap and asking people to chill out and respect that.

This. If you’re riding right behind my Mrs, it really spoils her ride as she’s stressed she’s holding someone up and it affects her riding. She’ll let you past if she can but that’s not always possible.

No more than going out for a decent ride. Jacket, tubeless repair, chain links, tube, leatherman, mech hanger and first aid kit. Sandwich and chocolate bars.

    1st timer here also.

What I am curious about is whether people who know the terrain would race in a full face helmet? After all, it is a race down hill and wearing a full facer is worth at least four Enduro seconds per minute (4 es/m).

Can you figure out where the air is leaking from? Either porous sidewalls and you need more sealant & shaking or quite likely around the valve.

Wow, hasn’t this descended from a simple premise in to a thread full of bad tempers, mud slinging and name calling.

    STW at its finest.

I did notice the change to 170 mm from 175 mm, but then again I am a princess.

If you have no reason to change then why even think about it! Unless you are particularly tall, small or prove to rock strikes then maybe just stick with what you’re used to.

9:45 here, also an early start. They ignored the team name for our group of 3 so pukeko has been given an “early” start time of 11:45! Fortunately I’m going to at least get to ride with with my missus!

    Another +1 for Bikmo+

Really helpful on the phone and pretty reasonable. We were struggling for cover at the time (we were a little bit transient, no house/contents to insure and were heading overseas for a while) and they almost seemed too good to be true.

edit – I notice no one else has leapt on this but I (and maybe you??) get a little bit of credit to spend if you refer a friend to bikmo plus. If you want a referral email me (email in profile) and I’ll send you a link 🙂 or use the referral code xvV0gQU

There’s a steep climb up from Kirkby Knowle. Yeah, it’s on the return leg.

    This one

You ought to remember it, it was the only steep bit up.

I really enjoyed the route, big smile on my face that day. The sun and dry trails may have helped.

    He should run a mile.

Contracts I’ve been on have been either 6 months, which then changes to a standard rolling contract (no re-signing required, 4-6 weeks notice). Or 1 year fixed (may require re-signing fees).

We might be going in September and mid week. They currently have no organised sessions arranged beyond August.

and yes, it’s £145 pp for a private session of one person. £125 pp for a private session of two, etc.

The group sessions currently have an introductory offer and are £75 pp.

Aye, my Mrs really wants to get some coaching. Thought I could tie it in with a trip to BPW.

I know of the legend that is jedi – looked in to him a few years ago. I just don’t have any other reason to be in Herts so it’s an entire weekend gone to get jedi’d

A new 10sp XT cassette and expander ring is more expensive than a new 11sp XT cassette, is it not?

The panaracer kit is pants. None of the plugs stayed in. When the same hole was repaired with a Weldtite kit it was good.

I bought some more plugs off ebay but they are way too big to work with the weldtite tool, might end up putting them in the bin. Can anyone link to a specific product that is the same size as a weldtite plug/anchovy?

And +1 for cutting the weldtite plugs in half. If you’re careful fitting, you don’t need the full length.

That’s nothing I crossed the south pole in nothing but my stockinged feet. They fell off on the boat home, but still.

Have I told you about the time I pogo-stick’d across a glacier? Pull up a chair,

Philishave one irritated my neck so I went back to braun. No irritation. Sure, not as close as a wet shave but also a fraction of the ingrown hairs that wet shaving left me with.

    Whatever is on your feet.

I’ve done hike-a-bikes skating around the Lakes on hard plastic soled SPD shoes, pushed up muddy slippy mountains on 5:10 ‘s and carried up snow-covered himalayan passes in slick bottomed Freerider VXi’s.

Sure they weren’t ideal but noone died 🙂

For trail riding you might be better off with some comfy elbow pads. A DH suit will be very hot for pedally riding and you’ll end up not using it.

Are there any details online? I’m unimpressed by the damping on my 2014/2015 34 TALAS so would have a go for this.

I found http://www.mojo.co.uk/fit-upgrade but it’s very light on details and doesn’t mention specifics that you do.

When I ride something that was a bit silly (on edge, too fast or just outright dangerous) I’ll celebrate with a massive WAHOO.

You may have heard me yesterday, I started a bunch of storms I gather 😆

Oh and a word of warning – if you work in an American drawing office, don’t ask for a rubber.

What do you get?? Obviously not an eraser….

A Kip is 1000lbs force. An arcane unit used in structural calculations by American Civil Engineers

I worked with a bunch who insisted on using Slugs. ugh.

OTOH, pads and rotors are consumables and safety critical features. Bin them and fit new. The old rotors were a bit wobbly and rubbed any way, didn’t they 🙂

I get a year out of rotors and 3 months max out of pads FWIW.

The keyway is a good idea, I’m a little surprised no one’s done that with matched clamps and seatposts before

Manufacturing expense, necessarily heavier seatpost. If you start with round, plain tube that’s a lot of machining to get strength or a lot of unnecessary material left over. Or expensive tooling to draw custom tube.

Then it’s unsealed allowing grit in to your seat post/tube interface. So either tolerances are tight to stop comic amounts of play or your tolerances are wide enough that it doesn’t seize with the slightest bit of grit. Frame tolerances aren’t good enough for cross-compatibility between fabricators, etc.

Thought about this several years ago with my Hexham mates but decided you’d might as well buy a gravity dropper 🙂

    For a direct comparison….

I borrowed some Guide CRsomething when my XT’s poo’d themselves in Nepal. I was running XT on the front, Guide on the rear.

The guides were great. Modulation, sqush, outright power, all comparable with the XTs.

The lever consistency was better with the Guides but you’d expect that being a fresh out of the box brake vs. some that have had a massive hammering since their last bleed.

The Guides are flop-flop. No messing around with hoses and levers if you buy cheap abroad. This means you can take a single brake away with you as a spare.

Either matchmakers or i-Spec to suit your shifters & dropper/reverb make a difference?

I prefer the XT lever shape & length but honestly, the Guide lever is fine and you just get on with it when you’re hooning it down a 45 dergree scree face or a dusty, rocky trail with massive drop off the side. You forget about the minutiae or lever shape in those moments.

So either way, I don’t have anything bad to say about the Guides and they even have some improvements over the XTs.

    But… y’know…. they’re Avids really aren’t they?

    😆

    HTH

p.s. in 2 years of hard riding, me and the Mrs have each cracked a piston in XT brakes….

Looks about right. Remember they grade white/green/blue/black and not green/blue/red/black.

If you want a harder blue then the Baden Powell at the bottom of Fromme is hard enough.

Also, try and clean the access track to the start of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin. 😆
