Maybe they decided they wanted an empty as possible base map while they had a head start and used composite images to get there?

Does no one else just half fill the holder with bleach+water so when you use the brush it actually cleans the loo rather than just swishing the poo around?

    Too much risk of spillage.

You do this at work and in public toilets?

Generally no. I do actually wipe any residue off the porcelain though. Wouldn’t want my colleagues to have to suffer my bodily functions.

It’s called the farage. You can pronounce it “farrige” or if you want to go all Keeping Up Appearances and faux Eruopean you can pronounce it the “farraage”.

But the real issue is, why do you let it accumulate and fester? Mingers. Clean toilet, tap brush to remove water and adhering particles, empty brush holder, flush toilet.

You wouldn’t want to knock the holder over and spill the farage on the floor, would you?

    Mingers.

Riding behind an experienced rider on an ebike on Wednesday night, it was noticeable how far down into the small cogs he was, even in eco mode (as he had a completely knackered drivetrain and was replacing with 10 speed SRAM as there was no readily-available 12 speed spares.

If you want to spread the wear across the whole cassette (or just in to the bigger sprockets), looks like we need to go back to double chainrings up front: big chain ring for e-assist and downhill, small chainring is a purely manual bail-out gear.

Or of course integrate the lot in to a gear box, but then again pigs might fly.

We’re talking 5’0″ here (152 cm). Her bike is a XS Men’s frame, but that’s 2012 geometry on 26″ wheels. A modern XS men’s frame is likely to be significantly longer.

FWIW her current bike has a reach of 373 mm. the Canyon Spectral:ON XS has a reach of 425 mm. That’s quite a big change in geo to get used to and will make the old bike a bit BMX-like.

Fruit trees? Many will give lovely blossom in the spring and food for yourselves, birds or even the local scrotes. Saw some Gage trees already have blossom out… Mirabelle, many Prunus and cherries have been out for longer.

If you want wild flowers or grasses then a few short fence posts or rocks should stop them getting mowed by the council.

You”ll still want to keep it in check and pick litter that collects whatever you do.

Do you really want to do much if you are planning on opening up the garage access again eventually?

Not sure you would want to share your data allowance unless each individual still had a cap to prevent them accidentally or otherwise using all the family data!

Wren gave me absolutely no input to design a kitchen. I have no idea, I’ve only ever lived in kitchens other people had designed no never really had thought about it.

DIY kitchen builder tool is good. The prices are good and the quality is good. The durability of the painted finish on the units is piss poor though.

I still made a mistake* on the design that a a bit of help would have helped me avoid though.

I should have moved the sink over a bit, so that the pull-out bin could be on the “prep” side of the worktop. You live and learn.

I hadn’t seen any when going past B&Q so ordered some from my friendly garden supplier. Works about about £4 a roll, which isn’t much cheaper than B&Q and the turf itself isn’t necessarily any better (have laid both, the B&Q stuff, even when nearly a week old off the pallet was fine) but that includes delivery.

Do you think you want to plug the holes or replace a patch of the sole?

I’ve used Freesole (now called something else, give me a mo) to hold together my aged Freerider Element VXi shoes but that was more that the sole would come peeling off.

Feesole – Now called Aquasure. Not cheap but does a decent job. You’ll get a few months out fo the tube before it’s gone solid.

I love my kindle (paperwhite, 1st or 2nd gen I think… it’s touchscreen and backlit).

It allowed me to carry a library of out-of-copyright classics (that cost 99p or free) for months round Nepal.

I can read in a dark room without needing lights on

Got a flip cover that switches the screen on and off automatically. If you have one of these then you might never really see adverts (on the lockscreen?). I’m not sure, I paid more for advert-free. I hate adverts.

I can load non-amazon e-books from my computer easily using the Amazon tools. Bought from the Kindle store, books load seamlessly to the kindle when connect to wifi and open them. I only ever buy 99p deals from Amazon so don’t feel too bad about giving the beast that is Amazon any more of my money. I have been known to load digital copies of books that I already own on paper too.

You do lose out on maps and pictures.

I got Andrew Marr’s Shot History of Europe. With a paper copy you’d have spotted the maps from flicking through it and been able to refer back and forward to them. On digital I never knew they were there until I finished the book by which point they were useless. Maps of Sharpe’s battles? Better commit that to memory and hope you don’t need to zoom in on any detail.

Big fan here! Plenty of scope for chatting and pointing to things – much more inclusive than having her in the trailer/rucksack.

    😊😊😊

I love how much we chatter and look at stuff.. and I can coach the little ones about general riding stuff.. stand up, hold on tight, wheeee!

Have you considered going for a full face helmet to avoid the mushroom head looks? :-D

FWIW I use a Bell Sequence on the road/tour/CX bike and I think I cut a very fine figure indeed, but then my head is ok in Giro, Met and Bell. Doesn’t look too dissimilar form the Scott Arx, TBH.

As it’s a new house, IHN may not yet realise that he’s surrounded by curtain twitchers who would dob him in for a half-pack of Werthers, meaning he has to pay a second time to reinstate the old windows….

The Exotic (CarbonCycles) ones have no information. platform size, thickness, weight, nothing. They look like they’ll be really chunky on a child’s bike. (the MRB review states they’re 95x100mm platform, 364g)

I’ve got a pair of Crank Brothers Stamp 1 (small) to try on my bikes but am waiting to receive and fit some longer pins – swapping the M3x10 for M3x12. They’re still adult sized pedals. Nice and thin, smaller platofrm size (when most pedals are going in the MOAR BIGGAR PLATFORMS) direction.

For actual more kid size, maybe try these with Aluminium moulded pins?

    I’m no fan of Neil’s history of customer surface but it’s only right that he pop in and defend his company’s reputation;

    OP:

do I risk a superstar components one

    stextc:

What I can’t understand are the crap + expensive headsets … like Superstar or FSA.

that said, he also needs to stay professional, make his point then leave instead of sniping at other users. :-D

I’m gonna ignore Neil popping up in this thread but My superstar slack headset has been great. Good to support UK manufacturing and it doesn’t eat bearings for breakfast like the Cane creek that came on the bike.

Cheap & durable & UK made & octopron

    win win win!

Look at more roadie orientated helmets? Or Gravel? (sorry)

XC and mild off-road helmets have been encroaching round the ears and the back more and more, I guess back in the day people only used to hit the top of their heads 😜

We put fake grass in a back yard that would never have been able to sustain real grass.

Even though I have a good friend how makes the stuff, I’d never replace a viable lawn with some… if you absolutely must get rid there are better alternatives that don’t need mowing.

If you absolutely must get rid, get a decent looking product. I’ve seen loads of front gardens getting done over the last few years and they looks absolutely shite. Look at LazyLawn for some good stuff.

Buy your own stash of coffee and filters if the communal Aeropress is that crusty. In fact, get your own Aeropress Go.

Yeah we got ours with a net outside – it gives you a bigger effective area but it’s not as safe…

    Kahurangi

Lavazza makes a much better aeropress (using the standard paper filters) than most (coarse) ground coffee, which is likely intended for caffetieres.

Lavazza decaf is nearly as good.

We’re dead happy with this and don’t bother buying other coffee beans or grinds unless it’s a gift!

There was a recent thread on Large sheds not so long ago. You might not be bringing the price down as much as you’d hope but if you can remove the up & over door it might look more of less break-in worthy.

No good for any security, neds to plan security for the bikes in to your designs.

    /edit – here’s the thread

    Shed prices (once again!)

I think you’ve already been given the key parts for a sculling/rowing start:

At 13 y/o he can expect to be sculling for a few years – sweep rowing makes you very one-sided physically.

There are some top quality local clubs, shouldn’t be too hard to find them: Twickenham, TSS, I’d expect more at your end of the Thames.

Don’t immediately go for the biggest or most prestigious club, compare the training staff and structures.

Rowing on the tideway Thames is certainly an experience but fresh, clean, flat water is nicer :-).

*disclaimer, never rowed for a proper amateur club, only the team at my academic institution. There was one year we could have been good enough to qualify for Henley but most of the VIII had big exams or jobs to go to.

BB92’s on our bikes have never creaked and last ages. Installed with some carbon grip compound when I change them.

In fact, I’m not sure the Mrs isn’t still on her original BB, which must be 8 years old.
