Alright, got us entered for Gisburn and Grizedale. Just hope it’s as full on as some of you insinuate 😀

Can’t do Lee Quarry as I’ll be away in t’mountains 8)

Well I’ll get home and talk to the MRs. Grizedale and Gisburn are options, definitely can’t make Lee Quarry.

    They’re what, £50 each?

And we’re out for dinner at 8 so likely to miss them anyway 😆

Did the PMBA enduros generally sell out last year? I was hoping not so we could do a few – but don’t have my year planned to such a strict timetable to allow me to book them up this early!

I was going to suggest getting it towed to Lidl and doing your shopping but thought that would be in poor taste 🙁 😮 🙁 😐

Actually no, won’t be riding with you Saturday, never mind.

Gah, I should have kept an eye on this thread. Northwind’s offered a ride but a maybe. I’ll go with the better odds and aim to see you tomorrow. I’m in a jazz on a blue pivot. I’ll probably have to prop myself up with a cofffee to get started so you might catch me in the No 1. Peebles Rd cafe at 9:00!

Does the field you’re looking to get in to require any knowledge of hydraulic systems and circuits? Control systems? i.e. Hoe to move kit around using a hydraulic power supply, logic circuits, valves and cylinders?

Can you produce fabrication drawings with your choice of CAD package?

Without knowing you (personally, or on the forum) if you’ve come from a research or academic field then you might find that your skillset is more in line with what they’d expect from a Graduate Engineer and you need to pitch yourself lower and expect to advance quickly rather than go straight in at Design or Mechanical Engineer level.

Hope this is useful and not condescending, apologies if it comes across that way!

/edit – to confirm what some the less sarcy posts above point out, is that the scope for a ‘Mechanical Engineer’ can very enormously.

I’m sure I could navigate myself around for a massive day just in the golfie, having had a quick ride there and the use of heatmaps & trailforks. IIRC it was Repeat Offender and 3G that we took in, then Kitty Litter and a mixture of fun stuff on the Inners DH side.

It’s just that having had the benefit of a great riding crew the last few years I’m keen to find some folks in Scotlandshire who I can ride with occasionally 🙂

It’ll put an end to your pub sessions after work though. Unless that’s what you’r really after? 😉

I’d might as well chip in.

Ulvang – 3/5 mine have shrunk. (30C cotton wash mostly). Might buy more in a size up as they’re VG VFM otherwise, no defects.
Woolie Boolie – 4/5 lasted great, would like they were longer though.
Edura Baa Baa – 2/5 less comfy, less warm and go baggy.

Before these I had a load of the Garburn oens off ebay. They were great and took years to wear out (they went bald but no holes). Would have bought more but wanted longer ones.

They’re failing through their exposure to shite and insufficient sealing.

Stiffness, strength, capacity, simplicity… yeah, great. However the Evolution to HT2 sacrificed the sealing and longevity. In dry, contamination free conditions HT2 would likely last longer, bu that’s not the real world.

Yesterday we received a parcel from MyHermes that had been dispatched on the 4th.

They must be having a busy period, would never have expected it this time of year.

Is your bearing press definitely pressing on the outer race and not the inner?

Otherwise your problem is probably here

The bearings were unbranded full stainless with caged-balls

    poor quality/tolerance bearings

stainless bearings are unlikely to be the hardest, unbranded are unlikely to be the highest quality, best materials and finest tolerance.

That age of fox forks I wouldn’t bother. They will either have knackered sanctions or the newer ones will be divey and linear.

You can do better for your money TBH.

whatnobeer – glad you’re getting your just deserts. Hope it makes up for last winter.

Now if we could just get some really big dumps in Europe, that would be great 😀

Just get some “3M” tape off ebay. I got some satin finish stuff recently (to suit the frame/paint) and pretty impressed.

Fallen trees from last weekend were cleared by Sunday morning.

Looking forward to a shuttle day on Sunday coming 😀

GTFO and ride! The built trails are not too muddy after rain, the off-piste is slippery fun.

I was 8 and we were moving house. My parents we still up packing and I couldn’t sleep. I cam through to the main room to witness Xenomorphs crashing through the ceiling.

As other hav said, it’s the width. If the chainstays were wider then you’d need a different axle or chainset standard to get the CX size gearing/chain rings to fit.

Coming soon – Boost for GGGRRRRavel 😐 😯 🙄 which will be millimetres different to MTB axles 😆

    Compromise!

I can’t ride up the reeeeaaaaalllllly steep stuff but I also can’t quite keep up on really fast pedally bits.

    Lose-Lose 🙂

What the MRCs have said is as follows:
“The academy is urging both sides in the current dispute around junior doctors’ contracts to step back from the brink and re-enter negotiations in good faith so that an agreement can be reached. Failure to do so will have an adverse impact on the NHS and current and future patients.”

They don’t seem to have said – “a national strike is a jolly good idea” or “we fully support it”

You talking like JH was prepared to actually negotiate, which as we all know if bullshit. The imminent reality of a strike was required to pull JH to the negotiating table without his wonderful pre-requisites.

It’s astounding, (no really, astounding) how you keep coming back to this thread, trying to spin it back in one direction on your own. Bravo!

Better to let it out rather than try and keep it out

Absolutely. What do you think are you chances of getting the frame completely dry inside, then sealing it up. Sealing up so effectively that it remains sealed and dry after hosings, river crossings, charging through puddles and the off jet-wash? Zero? correct. Best have a drain hole.

Funnily enough, my Californian-designed frame doesn’t have a drain hole in from the factory, either 🙄

Loved my Yaris, even though it was the underpowered 995 CC engine. Had to take both wheels off to get a MTB in the back though.

As above, ones that fit/work with your helmet first of all!

Yep! You’ll notice that I didn’t ask about brands or interchangeable lenses… 😛

I wanted to low-down on colours & tints first. I know that Bolle work well with my helmet, as do my current ones (though ‘ve forgotten who makes them). Once I know what tint I might be looking for, if I can’t get them in by Bolle then I’ll go down my local S&R and try some on!

What’s people’s thoughts on Goggles, especially their colour/tint?

I’ve only ever had one pair, with a slight tint. Used in rain, cloud an bright sun. they’re a bit scratched so fancied a new pair.

Is it worth getting a couple of pairs for different conditions? Are there any colours that particularly enhance difficult, flat conditions?

do ultrasonic cat deterrents work on dogs?

can you make a recording of dogs barking and play it back on loop when you’re out, directed at your neighbours?

    is their house flammable?

If you remove a pen drive from a computer before closing it properly, the e-horsemen of the apocolypse will be unleashed and will do untold damage… I’ve tried it – it doesn’t.

I have lost data this way. I usually format my USB drives to write data instantly so that you can just unplug them. One drive I forgot to, then did indeed lose data.

You can lose data, doesn’t mean you will. Likely OS’s have improved since XP too and don’t write data to removable drives like they used to.

Get it all clean, dry and assemble with a thin layer of silicone seal on the contacting faces. Tighten up nicely with a bit of grease on the threads. Allow to dry and set before misuse.
