    Frame spacers? Dropout spacers?

My travel bag came with some. Additionally, I wet to Mitre 10 (NZ’s answer to B&Q) then bought some plastic pipe the right size and cut it to size.

If you have QR dropouts, I have also seen wooden dowel cut to length then secured with a screw and washer either side work effectively.

Having lived in NZ where they actually have a rather forward thinking policy on wood stoves.

Live in an urban area and want to replace a wood stove? I must be an ultra efficient one.
Want to install a new wood stove where there was non before? Not a chance.

This is where there is arguably much more need for a wood stove too – no mains gas for gas boilers and central heating, earthquakes likely to knock out infrastructure and electricity supply….

They’ve lived through decades of poor air quality and are trying to clean it up now.

We’ve been through the same a generation ago, with smog, towns covered in coal fired haze, poor health and an asthma epidemic. Now the new generation want a lifestyle choice of axes, beards and log burners.*

    Some links for the bored:

*flamebait, not to be taken seriously.

If you’re new then spend half that much on a new bike.

In a year you’ll know what you really need and what will actually fit, at which point you flog the old bike and buy a keeper.

    helllooooooo…

who are you and what are you doing in my bathroom?

    Coooooeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot more people that own them that you don’t know, than know.

Yeah I know, it’s a relatively small sample and it was only to make a point that it’s not worth getting shot of the Lev for a Reverb!

I’d not be happy with that either and would be sending it back.

I’ll disagree with the poster above and would stay to stick with the KS Levs if possible. I don’t know anyone with a reverb who hasn’t had to get it replaced under warranty. Mine and the Mrs’ Levs have only required the odd clean/service.

If you have that much of the post showing you should get one with more drop, too.

    edit

very fussy about cable tension and position

sounds like the 1st generation of Lev Integra. They’ve been upgraded since and KS will send you the upgrade kit FoC if you do have a 1st gen one.

+1 for poo while at work.

Was is Ms. Trunchbull who declared “one up, one down, one shine”?

While trekking in Nepal, we got through half a roll in 2 weeks.
At home, it’s probably a week a roll.

I have both in a Medium. The TLD A1 is slightly larger, bulker and more generous with the padding.

    Coverage is comparable.

The A1 is definitely a more ‘luxury’ item but ought to be for approx 2 x the price.

    especially on skin!

    uhhuh.

The line I tried was, top slab, slight diagonal from right-of-centre towards right hand side. Nice and smooth, gave me a little runout before the second slab.

All the other rocks seemed grippy as, so I might have tried it a little too fast/ambitious. Who knows. The rock definitely wasn’t clean gritstone from below, looked like waters been running down it and stuff growing a little.

Also, looked a little steeper but more straightforward to start far left and go straight down both without pausing.

Anyway, lesson learned. Pads on even when they’re still wet!

Funny that this thread pops up now, after I read through it last week suffering a similar problem.

In my case, no amount pumping, emptying, cycling and squashing would get the chambers to equalise. I opened up the air chamber, pulled it apart (WHUUMPF, don’t forget your safety specs!) and cleaned up some of the masses of grease inside the air chamber blocking things up.

    Right as rain now.

pad material is thinner than usual to make room for the metalwork – will need to check that out at some point

I took calipers to mine (say what you will, at least I know I’m sad) and found the pad material was actually just as thick. The backing plate is essentially halved in thickness so that there is the same thickness again for the fin plate to sit behind it.

My Denon was easy to set up. Press buttons to put it in to a learning mode, tell it you want to program ‘vol up’ then hit remote control ‘vol up’ button. Same for ‘vol down’, ‘mute’ etc. No reason why you couldn’t set it up to work with a sky remote. No codes necessary.

I had some and they just rattled.

The real test would be putting some on a dyno and measuring heat build up, then compare with some proper finned pads and a control.

I have my LEV attached to a regular XT shifter and it’s lovely like that. The standard lever is ok too. The southpaw is probably more expensive than a spare shifter with a mod!

Apologies to Kryton for bringing it back up again (the topic, not my pudding that is)!

I think we all understand that if you undergo crowd-sourced mandatory urine extraction on STW you have to either join in or flounce.

U wot? This has been going on for a year and I’ve only just really noticed?

I’m not sure if I should be spending more or less time on here now… 👿

To expand on freeride_addict’s suggestion, I’d suggest basing yourself in either

    Rotorua or
    North South Island or
    South South Island

Rotovegas for endless bike park with a natural feel in parts

Nelson for the Hira MTB park (supplejack, R&R, heaps) er, the other bike park (with Broken Axe, Maitai Face), Codgers for lots of blue trails, Coppermine, backcountry (Starveal (sp ??), Fishtail, and then epic backcountry in Marlborough (Nydia ?Bay, Whites Bay, Wakamarina*). The best bike park in NZ is nearby but is privately owned so unless you have an entry to the DME you won’t be able to ride there!

QT for bike parks in Queenstown, Coronet Peak, Wanaka and you could push up towards the Backcountry riding in Canterbury (Mt Oxford, Mt Thomas & Richardson (Blowhard)).

I’m getting a bit misty eyed actually 😐

Oooh, thanks for those tidbits, I’ll check them out. 😀

I’ve also picked up on the trail at Glenlivet – I need to see what they’re like; XC, DH or in between!

I think they were short of marshals, so I think if you supply a marshal, you can have a place?

Do a search, there have been a handful of topics on this during the last week.

Track ends= unrepeatable disc alignment, slipping under high loads, lightweight.
    EBB= variable geometry, heavy, tidy.
Sliding dropouts= awesome but looks less neat
    Tensioner= versatile, less tidy.

At one point I had a spoon and a knife (as the Ti spoon was called then).

I thought that the knife has slightly thinner padding and a slightly more flexy base. Both wins IMO.

Bought some block beech kitchen worktop and cut it up in to pieces (I got 4 off 1500 x 300 mm shelves from a single piece of worktop, which was about £80 from Wickes). It’s supported by a number of small angle brackets, which aer fixed to the wall. The shelves just sit on top. The brackets aren’t totally hidden but I didn’t want to invest in a router or anything like that at the time.

Don’t have any photos on my phone, but I could take some tomorrow!

I can imagine the viz top tip just now…

Feeling a bit blue today? Did the butler let your toast go cold before he brought it to you? Throw a communist jibe in the direction of the red team to brighten up your day.

Yes. That’s what I was watching yesterday, but then it sticks with the BBC2 coverage so instead of the Madison, you get Tennis. I just hope they fix it so I can watch this evening!

I’m totally stocked that you’ve added this pimped-out, bling-bling steed to your quiver.

I missed the madison and the iPlayer programme sticks with BBC2 so has Tennis instead of the rest of the WC TC programme (SWITCH TO THE BLOOMIN RED BUTTON NOW).

Has anyone seen somewhere to get some highlights or a repeat?

If we go it’ll be arriving before lunch time. Might do. Best alternative might be Wharncliffe and Grenoside, but I’m imagining Wharncliffe is going to be a but of a slop fest.

I’ll bet that whoever has manufactured the bearings has just reused the seals as they have a common OD/ID.

It doesn’t help that many bearings are known by several names, particularly including a “1” after the first digit

I don’t have a paper SKF catalogue any more, but it seems that

    3804 (63804) is 32x20x10 (ODxIDxW)
    6804 (61804) is 32x20x7

The SKF product tables are very handy!

Since someone mentioned the Peak Designs clip – I have one – it’s great – but I’ve concluded that the UK is generally just too muddy and wet of me to use it on the bike unless it’s going to be quite dry.

Some great track in there whatnobeer, loads of fun.

Just to close the loop, there were some big icy patches on the Gategarth descent, one of which took out the Mrs for her efforts. Face in to a rock and lucky to walk away with a bloodied lip.

Lots of storm damage and more ice on the way up Nan Bield but mostly clear on the way down to Kentmere.

Yeah I dunno why I said Keswick, we were staying in Kendal hence Honister being a but of a trek around. Looks nice for a ride today starting at Staveley. Based on what we saw yesterday there shouldn’t be snow low enough to cause any trouble.

To get to Hawkshead from t’North, you’ll have to head round down the M6 then back up again. Probably wouldn’t take any longer than the scenic route anyway 🙂

Actually, don’t fancy the drive around from Keswick, think we’ll do Nan Bield, Gatesgarth and Garburn instead 😛

Me too, but I thought it’s about time that I took in a World Cup DH event and what better than Peaty’s last in the UK?

Guess I’ll have to make my mind up by 8 tonight!

Does this round still clash with the Fort William DH?

I’m tempted, but had also wanted to do my first pilgrimage to Ft Bill to pay homage to Saint Pete. 😐
