I had an FSA one. It was a tiny touch creaky but worked great. Lines to help you install the headset cups (tapered headtube) then the cups and bearings had a spherical cup & cone interface so aligned themselves.

In general, folk don’t like to be corrected, it’s an affront to their being (I’m certainly not immune from reacting defensively to helpful corrections 🙁 ). Being able to learn and change your viewpoint seems to be quite rare.

I have had mine serviced by Southcoast and wouldn’t send there again. I have used Jungle since and they’ve been great.

The Mrs and I were had gone to Innerleithen for the weekend to enjoy a round or two of Golf. Walking in to the No. 1 cafe for lunch we bump in to my sister, who lives in Dublin, leaving.

There’s also the time I met an angel (a real honest to God flesh and blood angel) but I really don’t want that tale to reach the public domain that is the internet.

On a serious note (instead of my flippant joke earlier) if your child isn’t engaged with maths, just isn’t interested then it’s worth taking deadkenny’s perspective on it. Try looking, briefly, in to some of the more weird and interesting aspects of maths without getting bogged down in the detail. Geometric spirals in nature, the golden ratio, complex numbers, drawing quadratic equations on paper.

If my camelbak seems to be too big, I pull the cinch straps an tighten it up then stop worrying.

ir_bandito often goes for a ride without his bag or with less kit and he’ll puncture without fail 😆

MY forks are the year after yours, I think. I’m a similar weight so I can come back with some pressure comparisons for you.

No they;re not that plush and I have to compromise between forks being too prone to diving through the mid-stroke and getting no small bump compliance at the other end.

so er, nothing much to add that orangeboy hasn’t already said.

Even though I ride with TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsSTR and he says he’s liberal with his kudos he didn’t give me any for last nights ride

    Ah, so you’re a taker not a giver 😀

I dish them out if people have been riding with their kids, or somewhere nice, or posted good pics, or a funny ride name, as well as for big rides and KOMs.

    Just like this.

You’ll not be getting any love for a turbo session, mowing the lawn or a ride to work. You might well get one for a family walk around the hills and a sweet photograph to go with it.

I have four names of considerable length that will not fit in their entirety on most forms.
If you think I should remember which agencies can accommodate which number of characters I should use for my name then you are a bigger bell end than you have currently appeared to be.

You’re very quick to throw around the insults, maybe you should calm down Alexandrainos Buckinghamshire- Fitzwilliam-Smythingtonbury.

I’d happily forgotten about NW’s axle breaking habit (was this on the Hemlock?) until the new Pro2 142×12 axle turned up and though thought “yikes, there’s not much material left on this”.

IF it does break then the wheels might be due new bearings by then and I’ll swap them all over.

gels in a bike shop in the US last week – maple bacon flavour

for when you’ve had enough sickly sweet gels… but still 😳

You need the X12 conversation kit. I did it to the wife’s no problem though I do have the bearing replacement tools.

The resulting axle is quite thin in places but as I was putting it on a FS bike for the wee wifey I wasn’t too concerned. Bit different if you’re 100kg and putting it on a DH hardtail 😉

I thought the Pro 2 Evo has a different shell so I’m not sure that’ll work? Happy to be corrected.

To put the Vigilantes in a comparative context, I found them surprisingly ok going from old to new Flows (25 to 30 mm internal).

Ok so I’ve lost some of the shoulder knob sticky-outiness but they never had much of that anyway. They’re much more stable though, before they were really temperamental to getting the pressure just right. Too hard and no grip, too soft and they’d fold.

I’m going to try the Minion DHF/DHR2 in 2.5’s next.

Only looking for more as she put some more gouges in to them at the Ard Rock and I thought it’s time to replace them!

The knuckleball bars are £50 at OO, I’m sure I paid much less than that last time.

Some people are lucky, some people are not. I’ve had my alfine 8 running with Versa shifters for 7 years? (with a 3-year gap) and been problem-free. Serviced every year or two. Occasional new chain or sprocket.

I’m surprised that the formula of simple, cheap campervans isn’t more popular.

Those Estimas all have essentially the cooking and services out the back tailgate don’t they? Wouldn’t fancy one of those in the great British Summer….

Speaking of software, I’ve heard of Inventor Fusion, which is free?

For 2D only, there’s Draftsight, which is also free for home use.

If you were to use pirated software you must absolutely not distribute any files created with it as there’s anti-piracy stuff embedded in the files, which could cause a lot of trouble if opened with a properly licensed installation.

Don’t forget 77 Designs, who have been doing the minimalist guides for a while now.

IIRC the wolftoth one is actually licenced from 77 Designs.

Dr. P, you get a *fist bump* for that

I got the Fremington Edge byway climb again this year 8)

Didn’t really give the S4-5 climb much effort this year, rode the rock garden riverbed at the bottom but then decided that I was flagging and needed to preserve myself a little bit!

And just practice riding smoothly, saw lots of people hammering into corners too fast, having to wipe off loads of speed and making mistakes, then coming out the corner slowly.

On stage 1, just assume that if you can’t see trail on the other side of the wall, that there’s a 90 degree corner with an uphill exit….

Accidentally spill something on top of them. Imagine you skimped on the posh brand of bin bags one week when you had a week old, rotten greasy remains of a roast chicken dripping out. That would be awful.

I loved the climb from 1-2!!
    Am I perverse?!

Not at all, love a good challenge, me. Both up and down.

    Did you clean it?

I even had some well-intentioned walker hold the gate open for me so no excuses 😈

Do you have to wear a helmet on protracted climbs? It’s not an unspoken law you know..

Almost every organised event I’ve ridden, if you’re on your bike you must be wearing a helmet, properly fastened.

    Otherwise, knock yourself out! 😉

I spent three months out there last year with the Mrs. We rode quite a lot, mostly with Tangi of enduromtbnepal fame, who karnali mentions above.

I’ve written a fair bit on our Nepal riding experiences, I’ll dig out some links later.

Big thanks to Troutie and Postie marshalling on stages 3 and 4. Had a brief but pleasant chat with both of you.

The Mrs had a big off on Stage 3, which ended her day though 🙁

We can ride up the Fremington Edge byway as many times as we like though 😆
