There’s a list of 10 on the STW front page at the moment!

I’d rate my KS Lev (static external cable), but it’s pretty long in to tooth now.

I was in Verbier last month, but not sure if what we rode was what you’r calling the ‘Enduro’ tracks. Any maps or guides you’re referring to?

Trailforks has a few tracks, but bear in mind that the Swiss grades go

Blue – Black – Red (double black).

Haven’t heard anything about a new stage… tell us more. Is it 6 stages now? Or one in, one out?

p.s. I have my tyre combo from last year (27.5 WTB Vigilante Tough/High Grip & Trail Boss Tough/Fast) for sale, can deliver them in time for the Friday practice 😉

Why are you waiting for a part for that long?

I’d guess because the OP keeps on thinking “it’s just around the corner, any day now….” and getting strung out by SS.

Time to ditch them and buy one form somewhere else. Anywhere else. Get out riding, and get a refund.

Should you? It’s just maths (ratios) then weight and expense.

You might find that going 1X is cheaper than replacing 2X chainrings. If you won’t miss the extra gear at the top end then there are few downsides (but there are some).

You might find that you have to replace the chain and chainring slightly more often to maintain chain retention. You might find you want to use a RAD cage or similar to improve shifting (particularly with a worn chain).

And you may ask yourself where is that large automobile? And you may tell yourself this is not my beautiful house!

I used Bolle’s in the past. Cheap, good coverage and ought to be certified to some proper standards. They didn’t fit my face though so I’m currently using the cheap-ish ones (bought when on sale) from Planet-X/O-O.

I used vertstar magic Mary’s front and rear for Ard rock the other year… now that was draggy!

Yeah, but you could have ridden directly up the cliff-edge of Fremington Edge 😆

Our Samsung TV is many years old, has very basic smart TV functionality but can still play some mkv files.

AIUI *mkv is just the container and doesn’t tell you what video or audio codecs are being used.

I’ve successfully removed oil stains from concrete driveway using hot water, washing up liquid, elbow grease and a stiff brush, and a jet washer.

A few cycles of this and it was looking great. Wasn’t perfect but the mark was barely noticeable.

More efficient methods may be available 😆

If you’re dealing with a tar sealed drive you should have an acceptable result pretty quickly.

kayla – as rik says (and the NN site says as well), think Golfie style trails. If you haven’t ridden at Caberston (aka Gofie) then I’d recommend a day in Innerleithen getting a taste.

The Kidland trails I rode were similar to Golfie in steepness for sections but slippery and with a healthy amount of fresh-cut that was tricky in the damp.

Didn’t plan on doing the Eastgate DH. Trying to get a bit of balance this year!

rik – keep an eye out for me on a blue Pivot in a red van. arrange something closer to the time?

dmk – are you offering? 😆

Looks like the ads might be streamed separately from the coverage

Normally I’ll find that (on ITV Player as well as other online streaming services) ads are served far more reliably than the actual content…

Wonder if the layup is thinner towards the end of the bars

I’m sure some of the better manufacturers reinforce around the clamping area but generally, the bar will see less bending moment further away from the stem.

    Nearly.

I guess it’s not very helpful to suggest that in future you don’t bother torquing your brake lever clamps. Just do them up enough to stop them slipping when in use.

Double bonus is that when they slip in a crash you can haul them back round to a better position and get moving again.

    £100!!!!!!!!!!!

For one trip you’re best off dropping £10-£12 on a suitcase style one (or two) and £4 on some butane cartridges.

Get some half decent pans to make life much easier.

Given he’s anticipated the questions to be asked he should have enough knowledge of his skills to be able to remember the examples would be my view unless there’s a medical reason why not.

    This was my first thought.

I should bloomin well hope so if he’s referring to notes bought off the internet for guidance. 😆

broad appeal to people who like both breasts and extreme violence

That was just the crutch to get people watching a fantasy TV series. Some series get a bit low on the old nudity but the violence is normally there in its stead.

occasional STW’er mchlptchr is currently in Morzine…. (I just checked his profile and he’s not been active for 3 years and 10 months so unlikely he’ll spot this thread).

The balance looked good in the shop last week when I called in but has no pit zips although it does have mesh pockets that can be opened to help with venting.

Was also my concern but the pockets provide nearly as good venting (provided you don’t have anything in them 😆 ) and the reduced bulk around the armpits is much comfier when you have a bag on.

Would the gravitas survive brambles and and odd MTB crash?

For commuting I’d also want more breathability – pit zips certainly.

I bought a Balance jacket as an all-rounder. MTB, walking, maybe some skiing. Roomy enough to fit a thin down layer underneath but not silly baggy. Might not have a dropepd tail but it’s long enough that with waterproof shorts I don’t have a gap open up on my back.

Best fitting piece of Alpkit kit I have (though that’s not saying much…) waterproofing and breathability are excellent (better than the old Gore Text pac lite shell it replaced).

I have a DHF 2.5 3C Maxx Grip on a 29 mm rim, could also take measurements/photos of that if it’s any help?

Personally, I wouldn’t settle for either of those. The DHF 2.3 I have on a different bike (26″) is much narrower. The DHR2 dual compound I have also isn’t that grippy.

The question is does it matter?

Yes – If the frame warps (because the base isn’t level) then the clasps on the lid don’t line up with the plate on the front for the locks.

You do get some spacers with the box to help correct this.

Re puncture proofing, I’ve also used the Panaracer flataway tyre liners with success the last few years. Not to curse them but they’ve been more effective than Schwalbe Marathon tyres – as the Marathons wear out, they become less thick and therefore effective.

Also for ++ sensible commuter points consider Alfine hub gears, belt drive, dynamo lights. The Canyon Urban range will cover most of these but at a price.

I got my wife one of these (add a rack but no dynamo lights)

    https://www.rutlandcycling.com/376936/products/ex-display-scott-sub-speed-10-2016-hybrid-bike-grey-medium.aspx

and that this price I’m tempted to n+1 (except I just rebuilt my commuter for that rpice frame only)

Edit – seriously, that’s a bargain for someone.

The Stans EX and Mk3 rims are the same weights but have got wider.

Flow EX was 25 mm and 450 g (estimates), the Flow Mk 3 is 29 mm and 450g.

It is worth noting that the Arch Mk3 is the same width as the Flow EX but is lighter, that may be where the confusion comes from.

    2. I’ll still click on it and read some posts despite knowing point 1

It’s like a car crash. A really dull car crash.

Sometimes you watch the car crash. Sometimes you want to be part of the pile-up.

I do think the political landscape needs refreshing, Macron stylee.

The FPTP voting system with a single tick in the box discourages anything but a two-party dichotomy, which is why we’ll never get an alternative. (IMHO of course)

Weldtite ones – I cut them in half the length so I get 10 fixes per pack. Occasionally when pushing them in, they go too far so you might waste the half an anchovy but it’s no biggie 😆 in the last 8 years I’m probably on my third pack and I’ve never had them fail.

Panaracer ones, I had a kit, pretty much every repair failed. Tell a lie, it was every single one. Went back to weldtite.

I bought a pack of anchovy replacements from eBay but they must be for motorbikes or cars and they’re super fat so haven’t used them. Might try splitting them along their length.
