Bit late to the party, but because of the weather I avoided a drive to my usual riding spots where I could have ridden with mates and went for an urban ride from my back door (in to Jesmond Dene) for a bit of a play. Maybe not as satisfying, but far safer as driving on the roads is the risky bit!

Sounds like you’re jst too lazy to clear the rear windscreen properly before you set off. Bet you don’t even de-ice the side windows on a frosty morning either. Blindspot? ;-)

KS Lev was slow but working fine.

Surely you just want a concealed cistern? Doesn’t getting rid of the cistern mean you’d need a very high flow rate of water to be effective (i.e. the cistern as an accumulator for the water)???

p.s. we have Gerberit concealed cisterns at work, about 10% are broken.

Figured my neighbours are paying my salary with their council tax so I might as well make use of myself while school is closed

Good on ya. My mum (teaching assistant) was moaning that she was being asked to do some online training from home while her school is closed…

I only managed half of the pavement outside my house before I decided that there was little point as it was already compacted with more snow forecast, so I went out on the bike instead.

I’m in the same boat, I have a horribly obsolete bike that I’d like to put a 27.2 dia dropper on!

postierich – was the weather so bad you would you have had to put trousers on??

And get yourself some yaktrax for walking on the compacted snow/ice. I have a spare set I could post you. Oh wait….

If you go internal gears you could get a belt drive.

Some Wolverine has split stays to go belt drive, the Bombtrack doesn’t.

I had a Singular Peregrine set up with Alfine gears. The frame died where it failed at the bottom of a lug, It’s on it’s third rear rim but the gears are still going strong.

Now replaced with a Bombtrack Arise it’s fine/good/great and looks nice but it’s not not quite DREAM BIKE territory.

I looked at the Soma Wolverine but couldn’t justify the extra over the Bombtrack.

Versa drop bar shifters work with the Alfine 8 and Avid BB7s.

I rides much nicer without panniers on but it’s very practical.

The Bomtrack has sliding dropouts, the Peregrine had an EBB. Both worked flawlessly.

If you have any specific questions I’d be glad to answer them.

We did a viewing through purple bricks – it was quick and easy for us/the vendor to manage the viewing time. The vendors inevitably do a better job of showing you round the house anyway.

This vendor was happy as PB costs £850 compared to 1.5% of £350 k.

As for making the sale and all the rest of the stuff, the estate agents should have local knowledge, a shop window and maybe even a buyer on the books who’s waiting for what you’ve got.

Interested in this thread. I have an Aldi combine rear light/camera and while it’s ok, a front facing camera would be much more use.

A dual-purpose camera in a GoPro format would be even better so that I can record my off road mincing….

That amount should fit fine – the lawnmower might require a bit of a shuffle to get it out. I’ve had 5 adult bikes in from time to time but you have to play it smart with turning handlebars and some disassembly to get that much to play nicely.

Watch out though – I did once use a cheapy inner cable – the nipple was a funny size and got stuck in the lever.

The Blackwells bookshop in Newcastle can do custom printing, IIRC, up to A0.

Some friends got the local area 1:50 (landranger) printed at 1:60 to squeeze a bit more in.

I’m a big fan of my Pertex & Primaloft jacket for everyday wear. My MacPac one is wearing a bit thin and cold now, mr Mrs just replaced hers with a Rab (Nexus?), which is much better but and not v expensive (£108 at Go Outdoors last week).

Obviously they don’t pack away as small as down, but what use is this jacket for?

If yo don’t need the storage, yo don’t need the money and you enjoy riding them both then why on earth would you sell one!?

FWIW, if you’re a Lakes regular then I’d keep the FS. IMHO of course.

I’ve always noticed that an 26″ MTB wheel is roughly the same OD as 700c road wheel, so pretty large. 26×2.1 was a pretty common commuter tyre IIRC.

If you have an old school cycle computer, they often have a chart of wheel & tyre combinations vs. OD (for setting up the circumference etc.). One of these might help.

    Not much in in though.

I’d also skip Cool Runnings (part of the red). It’s just not that good and loses height far too quickly for the amount of fun you have. You’re better off spending the time doing Zoom or Bust (or all the way from the Mast to Peebles via The Fort or Dave’s) or Hush Hush.

Trailforks, chat to the shop guys (buy a map and mark it up with pen), have fun.

Well on the one hand, 7075 is a very strong aluminium alloy. On the other hand, bonding sucks. Wouldn’t spend my own money on one unless I’ve had very close look at their engineering details.

i find puzzling that a company… can offer door to door international shipping but not find their own package

because they have a deal with a partner outside of their normal location of business? once they have handed a parcel over their partner they might lose a lot of tracking capability.

Without making myself feel really old, £20 p/w is a lot. I was promoted to an allowance of £20 p/m at 13.

    But really..

Do they do a rota or have allocated job to contribute to the house to earn that money? Even if it’s just mowing the lawn, emptying the bins, etc.

What do they have to do with that money? DO you buy them casual/school clothes so this is all spending money?

What do you want them to do with it? The cinema is a lot more expensive than it used to be! My £20 p/m would have taken me to the cinema 5 times. Do they have to fund their hobbies out of it?

Can they supplement their income? I did a paper round from 13-16 then worked in a chippie. Do they/will they have that option?

So basically, comparing to a national average is a very simple yardstick.

I would use RainToday but the map always crashes on mobile (run by MeteoGroup)

I do use WeatherPro Free (also MeteoGroup). The map is lower resolution but seems to be more up to date than RainToday.

I’m going to check out some of the alternatives mentioned but it’s not bad having inside the same app that I sometimes se for the actual forecast.

I love my Lezyne stainless one – it’s 10 years old and looks nearly brand new. It is missing a 2.5 mm hex though, check that the new ones have that – and you don’t get tyre levers.

    Bling bling though.

I have no idea how he got in tbh, there were 200 applicants per place or something like that.

An Oxford degree will open many doors and will make people think “well this guys seems to be a complete twit, but he has an Oxford degree, so there must be something about them”

I use a Chariot on my full susser for off-roading. We’ve had our little miss off road since about 8 months around Hamsterley.

We have a classic Chariot (the Cougar). With proper suspension and pneumatic tyres it must be so much smoother than a cheap trailer.

Connected to a 142 mm thru axle using the Roberts Axle project kit. I tried a few times to get the Thule branded ones but that was a faff and a half.

Smooth blue trails are great, rough fireroads are great. I’m on the brakes a lot to crawl downhill as the little miss will get shaken around a bit much if I ride as I normally would. Climbing has been problem at all, in fact the massive amount of kudos and support you get from fellow riders makes it easier than when I’m siding solo.

We don’t put a helmet on her – she’s protected by the Chariot (it’s a roll cage and she’s strapped in) and there aren’t any small enough to fit anyway.

    Straight pull
+ easier to fit without removing disc rotor and cassette
    + theoretically stronger

    J-bend
    + much easier to source
+ don’t spin so easier to tighten

I’m unwilling to accept that hub flange breakages are due to the spokes. I’ve had one hub flange get torn to pieces and it was a Mavic straight pull job. My anecdote doesn’t mean all straight pull hubs are flawed.

I had a really nasty shape and actually did pretty well. After I’d given up on the grinding discs and bought a diamond cutting disc I didn’t brake anything by accident. Clever use of some breakages and I’d reckon 10% would be fine.

The problem is, if you cut it too fine and don’t have enough, what will you do? If yo have loads left over, is there something you can do with it?

Nice! That’s basically what the One-Up RAD cage does but saved you £25 8)

There won’t be a lot of materiel left around the bolt so might not be as strong.

There have been a few threads recently about sharing pictures on the forum, have a quick search.

IMO I wouldn’t suggest entering the Tweedlove/British Champs unless you’re comfortable going down any track you’ll find at Inners/Golfie.

IME they’re almost always too warm, not waterproof enough and because of that lack versatility.

Something that’s more of a windproof jersey would be dead useful though if you can find one that’s not mega warm and still breathable enough.

Yes, the chain retention suffers when the drivetrain is worn and when the clutch is knackered.
