    Marple Bridge….

I’ve totally missed what’s going on in Marple Bridge/New Mills, what’s going on there?

Both are window dressing if you are still connected to and use mains gas.

I thought that statment was a bit blunt so wanted to know if I should educate myeselfand came across these figures (source https://www.carbonindependent.org/15.html) The c source contains further references and figures for losses and inefficiencies.

    Electricity: 0.309 kg / kWh (kg CO2/kWh)
Natural Gas: 0.203 kg / kWh

So I’d have to disagree with your assertion there Edukator. Yes, would be better to use renewable electricity instead of natural gas, but to scrap a perfectly good boiler (and rads?) and cooking appliances to use electricity instead is going to have a large carbon cost.

their performance is bumped down by baggy clothing

But the point is that once everyone is gimped up in lycra then noone has the advantage any more and everyone loses.

Once everyone is super then no one will be.

First, who cares? Its his money he can do what he wants with it.

well OP had just described how Dave was happy to spunk £25’000 draggin the family round plastic fantastic roller-coaster land but kicked off at £200 on a tent for everyone else….

Personally, £25000 would be about enough to make me go to Florida for 3 weeks.

£25000 would also pay for our 6-week trip to NZ, our 3 months in Nepal and have enough left over for the camper van, but each to their own eh.

what about a few feet of yellow/black (or other colour only used for this purpose) hazard tape slipped in the pocket of every rider?

MTB version of a warning triangle

Good luck getting folk to spend money and carry stuff. I mean, MTBers refuse to pay for parking that funds the trails and how many of us even have a warning triangle in our cars?

The success of crossed skis is that mosy skiers will have skis with them when they encounter an accident.

A bike upside down across the trail confers the same meaning. It’s much more deliberate and a bigger obstacle than a bike laid down.

Sounds like the OP has multiple neighbours who could be the potential perpetrator, so we need to verify who before we go scorched earth and picolax laced sausages.

I agree with the rider-driven demand for baggy clothing. If anyone wears a skinsuit for competitive advantage then everyone wears one and no one has an advantage. Also everyone looks like a twit.

That said, some of the competitors look like they are filling their “baggy” shorts and should lay off the pies from the servo. It ceases to be baggy if you just expand fill it.

as they’re things to burn they might have limitation on postage hence the lack of online availability.

You did 100% the right thing so don’t worry there.

The angry people are probably used to people leaving bikes lying around while scoping out jumps and features. It’s easy to get angry when frustrated and hopefully they’ll come away from this with a little more understanding.

I dunno, but haven’t the manufacturers tightened down the supply chain, reduced oversupply to OEMs, who then sell on, undercutting the distributors and the LBSs?

If there’s no penalty fr contesting it then it’s worth a try, in case the appeal lands on the desk of someone with some empathy or who has had a bad day. Maybe, if you ask very nicely.

It’s great, means I don’t take my wallet everywhere and can still buy some odds and sods on the way home on the bike, of back when I was walking a wee baby to sleep, I could pop in to the shops without having planned it.

Once or twice I’ve had issues and had to fish a card out. Once the transaction cancelled itself and a few times the reader plays up saying I’m moving the card too fast.

advise the guy behind to stall long enough to ensure they go clean

yeah nah. if you all do this it takes forever to get started and the queues get ridiculous.

expect to have to overtake and expect to be overtaken, don’t put each other in danger during overtakes and have a good time.

the odd overtake won’t ruin your time, we’re mostly battling for mid-pack on here. If you’re important enough that overtaking is beneath you, you’d be starting off with Nico, Peaty and T-Mo.

If you bit your tongue, or your lip, it’s swollen and immobile so you’re much more likely to bite it again. It also hurts 10% more each time and makes you 50% more angry each time.

    110% science fact :-p

I had a mate who rode a race with a bodged visor (made from an ice cream tub or something). The organisers gave him a spot prize of a new helmet! 😂

We don’t get nice weather very often so I’m embracing it. Rice home after work to pick up the nipper from nursery and we shall do mini-milks in the garden 😎

Langtang was absolutely f*****d by the earthquakes, I think there were no villages left (Mr Mrs wanted to do Helambu trek but we didn’t have time at the end of our trip) so if the area has reopened it might be very changed but might also be worth spending your tourist dollars there.

I don’t think October is very high season in Nepal so you should be fine just rocking up to the next village. If unlucky you might have to backtrack or walk on to the next village – your guide should be able to help with that sort of knowledge.

The Annapurna circuit is really quite populare, the tea hosues (hotels) are quite big (up to 100 beds?) compared to those we saw on Manaslu (~10 beds)

We found the Tsum valley really rewarding – it was only just starting to be more open (it used to be much more tightly controlled with permits). It’s very Tibetan in feel compared to the Hindu majority of much of Nepal.

Manaslu and Tsum valley too long?

Do you know how well you cope with altitude? The posted schedules are flexible depending on how strong you was trekking and could be accelerated until you start reaching altitude.

can cool air via evaporation of water

But with no venting, that’s only a solution until it starts raining inside…

In short, you’ll have to find a way to vent outside even if it’s separate to the existing A/C, or wear shorts.

Has the cafe at Peel been taken over? They seemed to have a bit more of a clue when we stopped there during Trail Days.

Oh and the Glentress Hotel is definitely on my list to try out – I heard good things about them now from some locals.

I tried on the Alpkit mountain bike stuff when I was last in Keswick – it’s really nicely fitted and a far cry from the short n fat Alpkit fit of yore.

Also have a look at Ground Effect for some discrete and some slightly louder stuff.

I entered this thread expecting to kick off at the sight of OP promoting anything other than Branston. Heinz are pale and weak in comparison.

While I’m here, I’d might as well reiterate the superiority of Daddy’s tomato ketchup too.

the small tin is just the right amount

for a child perhaps. I’m hesitant to call out someone called CheesybeanZ, but c’mon. A small tin? maybe as a mid-meal snack.
