    answered your own question

Heh, I just thought tit was a bit too obvious, it was the first thing to turn up on a search. Kind of just wanted to reassurance that it was good fitting kit. Cheers frank.

I think you’ll need to be very careful considering the IP rating and the steam/water zones that you get in a bathroom, but no suggestions.

So your’re tall and skinny but not freaskishly so.

To be worn with knee pads?
    What’s your preference on pockets?
    Waterproof arse?
Heavyweight fabric that will last years?

If anyone in the North East is importing these give me a shout and I could split postage on a 27.5″ Exo 3C MaxxTerra.

I’m seeing them as a tenner now, but I have a couple of similar boxes.

Great for keeping spare bearings, o-rings, valve cores, thingies and doodahs in.

won’t the Doppler effect cause a sonic boom

It’ll cause a frequency shift yes, but the trains in this country wouldn’t be causing a sonic boom.

What DezB said. And now that the front mech is dead on proper bikes* the frames can stop being compromised to make room for them.

We love our MacRide, it’s probably my favourite thing on bikes at the moment. Brings us so much joy.

Singletrack should do a group test of knackered, abused bikes that have seen no maintenance.

    1 x hardtail
    1 x single pivot
    1 x multi bearing’d bike

maybe also 1 of each bike in mint condition.

and compare how the performance has degraded between the models and if the fancy suspension design means much if you don’t maintain your bike. It might revel nothing or might reveal everything.

I think the only pads I have that haven’t fallen apart is my Giro Feature, but their pads are so thin there’s nothing to fall apart.

The Troy Lee A1 pads were at least easy to sew up at the edge – they’ve since lasted very well.

My commuter helmet (Specialized something or other) I used to have about 6 sets of pads and were used & machine washed on rotation – because the pads could be got for cheap.

My current Bell needs new pads, just need to figure out what model it is…

My commuter with BB7’s is great, I do have a nice hill to deal with and get some decent braking in.

My wife’s with Shimano hydraulics is now a weak and squeally mess. I’m considering servicing the calipers to check for any microscopic leaks but otherwise she’s due clean rotors and new pads.

If in doubt, contact Wiggle directly before your ebay returns/refund period elapses. You might not be the buyer but you will have an order number on the delivery note.

A couple of weeks ago I had a slip from (Yodel? Hermes? not sure) saying package was on my porch. That’s funny, I don’t really have a porch and didn’t see a parcel on my way in the garage.

Making a brew, looking out the window.

    What’s this?

The courier had hoy’d the parcel over the fence in to the middle of my back garden! Cheeky ****!

Do it rough and ready then if you’re not satisfied with it, raise it and do it properly in years to come.

600 x 900 slaps ought to be pretty stable.

Scewfix should be ok if they will let you keep trying them on til you find ones that fit.

FWIW I tried on loads at our Arco and settled on DeWalt for my narrow feet.

How old are your kids? When in Pemberton I took my nephews (18 month old twins) to the library and play park. The Library was great, there was a story time ready by a wonderful librarian who read us Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus and taught us the Canadian tune to The Wheels on the Bus. Good times. There’s plenty of family friendly walking there too.

The riding in Pemberton was ace.

Whistler is bigger, should be easier to find stuff to do there.

I’m another one still using Picasa 🤣 I don’t know if it does tags though, that would be good but I’m not going to tag my photo library if I end up switching software.

I tried a trial of Lightroom and didn’t get the hand of the workflow before the trial expired so never bought it. Is it subscription only now? Not a chance I’m going to pay £100 a year for it.

Interested in this. Out house has a pretty pathetic layer of maybe 10 mm of rubbish looking glassy/wool looking stuff. Probably circa 1984.

I need to increase this (remove the old stuff first?) while not burying the new extractor fans working around water pipes and electric cables!

Given the enormous number of joists I’m not going to board out much.

Keep tyres that you’re used to, sounds like Minions are ideal. Get a tougher casing on the rear if you want to spend ££ on a new tyre or maybe spend £ on an insert and see how that goes.

I’ve head a really nasty cough. It developed from manflu in to a nasty dry cough, still coughing but coughing bits up and another round of headcold. So far, about 4 weeks. hope to be rid of it just in time for the weather to improve 🤞

I am presuming you have it so that the fan only runs when the light is on?

That is what I had assumed and that is how the other bathroom that the same sparkie did. But the isolator does seem to be wired as if it’s just spur’ing the fan off as an on/off switch? If I can’t see anything funny going on at the light then it must be?

Sorry, it’s so obvious when I look at it, I was just expecting it to be much more complex.

Alan, thanks. That actually makes a lot of sense.

IF there was funny stuff going on at the light, I figure it would have tripped the RCD.

I did test the isolator switch using a light bulb but can’t see what else could be going wrong.

I do have a spare isolator switch so that might have to go in tomorrow.

    Cheers again.

Thanks all. It was wired up by the sparkie who binned all the instructions. I have very little experience with domestic wiring. I can understand circuit diagrams and all sorts but for some reason domestic stuff is counterintuitive!

Being connected to the light fitting makes sense as to why there’s no extra wires at the light switch.

I checked all the connections at the isolator switch and they’re sturdy. Connection issues at the light itself makes sense, I’ll have a look there. Probably something funny going on there, it’s a LED bathroom glove job off amazon.

Thanks again, really appreciate you taking time out of your saturdays to help a numpty.

Thanks BigJohn. Isolator looks ok – in that all the greys are going to N, blacks are going to L2 ad browns to L1.

I’ll get hold of one of those pens – sounds like one would be useful in the long term. Although the lines in the loft couldn’t be tested in this way unless I hold an earth cable up to me.

I tried swapping LS and L at the fan, didn’t make a difference. Swapped back. Fiddled with the timer and the fan has come back to life – although again permanently on instead of on/off with the light switch. Bah.

While canyoning in Snowdonia we walked over a section of boardwalk. Didn’t notice until the guide pointed out that it was plastic. It was a few years old and still grippy. I’ll be looking in to it soon as I have a small patio on the north side of the house that needs extending and relaying over the next few years….

You don’t see the spine lines that we can’t use. They’re mostly my doing.

how about the alt-text for the leader photo when each new issue is announced on the front page?

Oh I agree that they are the ideal for a new build, but just disagree with ripping out existing gas burning infrastructure and installing new electricity consuming infrastructure (as manufacturing stuff = CO2 emissions).

Changing to a renewable tariff requires no immediate manufacturing on an individual level, only an incremental contribution towards another wind turbine or hydro dam :-)

    FWIW
Seasonal averaged coefficient of performance is more like 2.5
    https://www.evergreenenergy.co.uk/heat-pumps/how-efficient-are-heat-pumps/

    Are heat pumps cost effective?

although it’s not clear whether this is averaged per unit time or per unit energy used.
