Am I coming or going? I can barely decide.
I just drank a fifth of vodka, do you dare me to ride?

I got my wife an On-One Knuckleball bar in the “chewy” version if that’s what you mean. It did help with her Carpal Tunnel but it wasn’t the only thing we swapped at the same time.

We also used the silicone grips but they got damaged too easily and went to some more ordinary Hope ones. After that, it still seemed to be an improvement on her previous, Aluminium bars.

    Who knows.

Got surgery done in the end, it was made worse by other factors.

One might feel that the OP is being coy with details because it won’t reflect well on him and he’s just looking for ammunition against his OH, but would be ecstatic to be proven wrong.

I’ve told my OH that when the kids are at school and she is still part time, I want to be part time too. Unfortunately that’s unusual in my industry and I think it’ll take quite a bit of a push to make it happen.

It’ll be better in some gears, worse in others

I think the chainline is actually better like this anyway

Agreed – with non-boost cranks and a boost wheel, you’re improving the chainline in the bottom gears, which I would argue you are normally pushing far harder, and for longer than your top gear.

I have a plugin for Chrome that prompts me to “got to this page at smile.amazon.co.uk instead…” but I can’t find it in my list of Extensions…

I don’t use amazon any more though (no much anyway) and I’m happy with the direct debit method of donating to charity instead 👍

I think all off the shelf inflators are small, with a what, 1 litre or 1.5 tank? Happy to be corrected.

A mate has had problems with a bony flash charger on some plus size tyres, which I assume is a similar size.

For plus-sized I’d definitely go homemade with a large fire extinguisher. NorthWind FTW.

    eeeeevvvvvvveeeeeennnnnnnttttttuuuuuuuaaaaalllllllllllyyyyyyyyy

:-D that’s my point, for those who might assume this is useful for inflating tubeless

    (Re Ryobi)

They do a very good job of hiding the air delivery on those…

What throughput do you need if you have a 120 psi, 1 gallon tank? OK so it takes a couple of minutes to charge it up but then you’re gold.

Also, while I had the calculator open, 10 l/min = 0.5 cu ft/min, so they’re both as bad as each other, only one already has the tank…

The rating (current draw) will surely be the maximum possible power requirement of the monitor. So max brightness, maximum volume (inbuilt speakers?) etc. etc.

So IMO (Mechanical engineer, failed at electrical engineering LOL) check the power supply isn’t getting too hot, turn the brightness down and crack on for a few days. You’re unlikely to damage the monitor.

    Agreed, new thread required Batman!

I missed the OP’s thread too, so didn’t spot the new question, just assumed it was an update.

If it’s covered in a lumpy glue it will be difficult to ensure you’re getting a good seal.

Also, if you have a thick layer of glue it will be inclined to creep under stress/pressure so your tape may migrate to one side or just get in a mess.

I’d also try best as you can to remove it. I generally use Meths (I still have some from when I used to use a Trangia) but sticky stuff removing are also available.

Run 3×9 until it’s worn out (a year or two) then going 1x is a nice saving instead of an outlay.

But yeah, depends on you, your other bike(s), would have thought that’s a great bike for short hour blasts and the odd XC race or event.

I put my bike upside down on the handlebars and pack stuff around it so it doesn’t fall over. this was in a wee Jazz, so your Audi may not be adequate ;-)

This is with wheels off of course. Can’t win everything.

Our pressfit BBs (2 x bikes, both carbon with shimano PF92 bbs) have been no trouble at all, easy to replace and no creaking.

I made a press out of some big washers and stuff from work btu before that I used a soft hammer with no ill effects.

Also, didn’t the old Flow and Flow EX require particularly high spoke tension? Wouldn’t surprise me if that has lead to some over-zealous spoke tensioning from some wheel builders?

    500m max.

The only pump tracks I’ve used are ones that I’ve come across on a ride. One was at the bottom of the bike park, in between the cafe and chairlift. The other was half way down at a confluence of the DH trails.

If you want new users to try the pump track, it’ll have to be where they would otherwise already be going. Near the car park (the one with the cafe toilets, not the field further down the Forest Drive), next to the skills area, just at the beginning of the blue trail, etc.

All IMO of course, and this is at odds with some others!

New pump track at Chopwell Village? Great, but I’ll not be bothered to go there. I have to drive to Choppers so unless it links in well to the trails there….

I dented a Flow Mk3 on the first ride – I was playing with low pressures and rode straight in to a square step 🤦‍♂️

It never broke though and I only replaced it because the ding was pronounced enough I had trouble getting tyres mounted.

IMO I’d buy the wheels and maybe swap to a Flow EX3 of Arch on the back if you get cracks.

Maybe moreso if you use additional tyre foam inserts.

IME it drains very well and rides well in the wet.

Flying with your bike is much cheaper, quicker, and more reliable than shipping them.

Have a look at Bikmo for insurance (I’m no longer a customer so no referral fees here thanks). They were good with extended trips around the place.

    Re bars.

I used to use some On-One Midge bars (because I was stupid I sold the Salsa Woodchippers it came with) btu found that I struggled to swap between the moustache bars and proper roadie drops.

Then I used CX style slightly flared drop bars on both of those and found it much better.

If you don’t have a road bike thenI’d suggest giving moustache bars a try. Of course if you currently have flat bars then going to drops requires new brake levers, shifters and possibly even new frame or stem to correct the geometry, so maybe just put some bar ends on your flat bars :-)

For the space of a inflator and disposable CO2 cartridges, I have a fancy new reusable and adjustable pump! You just push it! :-)

I have a bag. Inside it is a pump (mountian morph), anchovies, plus a spare tube. If I’m racing I’ll still have all of that, maybe not the tube. I’ll not lend you a pump though. It’s a race and you decided to not be self-sufficient to save the grammes and make you moar faster.

More and more commonly used though is a valve core remover and spare valves, I’ve met a few people struggling to reinflate tyres and it’s because their valves are gunked up with sealant.

I’ve done it with forks and also borrwed a mate’s stand.

the stand was certainly easier nut at least once I’d used that stand only to find the hub had slipped in the dropouts and it was dished and aligned completely wrong.

For most adjustments and tweaks I use the frame or forks, as that’s where the wheel is being used.

Tyres in good condition I will take to a local charity (like Recyke y’Bike). Ones that are worn out, I took to a local cafe (Pedalling Squares) where they get collected and upcycled in to stuff.

Where are you based? Other members might have a suggestion.

To the OP – sorry, my experience with trailers is with a touring bikes (steel, disc brakes, 35 mm tyres) or MTBs.

    Hmm.

Do the Burley etc. trailers use a hitch similar to the Thule/Chariots?

We have a chariot single with a number of hitches and adaptors for the MTBs and Alfine based commuters.

I’m going to need a trailer for a year when both we wee ‘uns are at nursery (approx 1 mile) then I continue to work (6 miles). I had thought about a cheap trailer for a year, which I can leave at Nursery outside.

Perhaps I’d be better funding a double chariot (as we have the axles and hitches) and leave it under cover (outside) at Nursery? there’s not a lot of space indoors to store it at our nursery and having done the run for a while in the single Chariot, the dismantling was too much of a faff to be bothered with.

    Thoughts?

We got a Kidz Motion Diddy Jiggy at one year old balance bike.

It was a good play thing to have around the house – at the early days it’s another way to learn to walk by holding on to the handlebars and straddling it.

Getting the bike early meant it was always around and there to be played with as much as they want and to compare to Mummy’s and Daddy’s bikes :-D

Yeah, it’s removing the moisture from the damps bikes that is key. I’d always get my bike dry before putting it away in a similar shed, but of course your situation may be different.

research shows the bags are effectively “bags for a week”, with UK households buying 54 a year in what was described as a “huge rise”.

    Does anyone believe this though?

I shop at a big Asda in The North (don’t hate me, it’s huge and within walking distance).

The average punter there is buying new Bags for Life every single time. It’s horriffic. 😩

To be absolutely correct there’s a special grade of ply but I can’t recall the ref.

Diamond ply was often mentioned when discussing the ply and screed for our new LVT flooring last year.

My in-laws have a Reimo. The sides pulled away from the roof while on holiday, I think it got repaired under warranty when they got back though.

We have a cheap one (fitted before we bought the van) which has hinges instead of a scissor at the rear. It means that tall folk won’t like it as you don’t have much space for your feet at the end! I sleep downstairs instead, which is comfier and quieter :-)

I chose my fitters, went to their favourite supplier and looked through their showroom and catalogue choosing stuff that they had. Got the supplier to deliver to the fitter and my address or for them to collect from the supplier. Sorted.

Tiles were from <be>Walls and Floors</b> online, they were great.

A few misc things I bought online and took delivery of as per normal, in good time, so we knew we would have all materials well before we started.

Did this twice with the same guys.

    Depressing?

Jude the Obscure was worse. Grave of the Fireflies was worse.

(not gatekeeping depressing but for the sake of comparison)

Yes it’s bleak but it’s survival and uplifting in a funny way.

Look, reminding the Poms about drop bears won’t help the Tourism that Australia is going to need in the coming years.
