I might be wrong but I think 25 Nm is the tightening torque for the UDH. The axle is fitted from the other side with a much lower torque.

Assuming you are using the uplift, yoi can remove the battery to satisfy the restriction?

If your saddle is too high then you are probably rolling your hips to help, hence back issues. Get a professional or someone to watch you and/or bike fit.

99% will be UK standard but as always with hire bikes check the brakes properly before heading off anywhere.

How many people in your household? Are two of you viewing? Knock on walls, stomp around and make some noise – how far does it carry?

Flush every toilet, run every tap and shower, check the drains. How long does water take to get hot?

Where is the light coming from and do you get your evening sun trap to make the most out of the evenings?

You’re in to downcountry territory now, lots of lovely fast and capable bikes….

Is there anything that’s a deal breaker for you?

FYI the Meridas FS bikes have headset cable routing do they not? This only moderately infuriates me from a maintenance perspective but likely was incompatible with the MacRide child seat we use a lot.

Mrs Armitage wouldn’t waste her money on something like that’s she’d knock something together out of drainpipe, no. 8 wire, and and string.

I spotted mulled wine on the shelves last week, nearly got some – though I suspect it’s there year-round now.

Tell them there’s a local infestation of the drop bears or spiders or some such and they should get a room in a hotel for their own good.

If you talk to the neighbours, I’d make sure you are polite but forceful. No “don’t suppose you could please” but “because of light nuisance laws you must do this”. Know what outcome you want and ask for it. Nicely but forcefully. You coil help them of course but doesn’t sound like they want to do you favour, you’ll need to make them understand that the course of action you’re requesting is less painful than fighting the law / council.

    Or as stwhannah suggested.

I’d install a mirror (or even better, reteo-reflectives) on the boundary. F* em.

The ‘is Dekard a replicant’ quandary I always chose to be unanswered, neither yes nor no. Blade Runner 2049 gives a fairly definitive answer though, no?

Tank of diesel = € plus a bit of hassle

New engine = €€€ plus a tad more hassle

    Do you feel lucky?

Maybe a local farmer will buy the contaminated fuel off you for their tractor and lessen the pain!

You may have to change terminals, so use the info on the plane and ask the staff on the plan what gate you will be landing at. Make a little noise and they may help expedite you off the plane.

If they’ve sold you the tickets they need to get you there so they are motivated to put you in the seat booked and not put you up in a hotel until they put you on another seat on a different plane. Everyone will be working to get you there.

As as is good practice anyway, pack a change of clothes in your carry-on in case you are waiting for your bags to catch up with you at your destination.

    Enjoy NZ.

I normally stay out of these sorts of threads because, well, there’s nothing to add.

    Statement of facts.

    OP has a gas leak.

Despite surchasing a detector, OP can not find the gas leak, nor where the gas is going.

There is a free service to assist with main gas leakages because gas explosions a moderately inconvenient.

    !

    Profit?

On my Bontrager branded hub I had to remove the DS cap off the axle to get even my thinnest wall lock ring tool on! I thought u was going to have to buy another one!

I refused to watch Part 1 unless I knew there was a Part 2 in the way and I’ve finally seen them both hooray! I even held of re-reading the book as I get distracted from film/s when they deviate from the source. As its been 20 since reading Dune I get to go “huh, I don’t remember that” instead.

    So anyway.

Are there likely to be more films? Is this just supposition or rumour?

    I’ve never used that.

Normally you get a yellow split block that allows you to clamp on the outside of the hose while you tap the insert in with a hammer, having done a good straight cut with a sharp knife.

I may be missing some complexity of up to date brake systems but that’s how I’ve always done it in the past!

The green at the bottom of Glentress (The Captain) is super fun but short. Perfect for a beginner as there’s nothing sketchy and will leave them wanting more – as opposed to a green graded slog round miles of bland forest road, which they’ll hate.

Not sure if there’s any access to Betty Blue or Berm Baby Berm from Buzzards Nest any more.

I’m 178cm and I have a Slash in ML. I was humming and hawing between ML and L… went for the ML as I was upgrading from a very short (old) Pivot and the ML gave me a shorter seat tube but a shorter dropper out of the box, which would still let me fit the MacRide (kids bike seat).

I’m in the North East if you want a spin. Will be at Hamsterley on Sunday but if you stand in one spot at Hammers a Slash will ride past you sooner or later.

    Definitely glad I didn’t go bigger – it’s a big ol bike.

I swapped the up n over for side hinged and very glad I did. One side isn’t needed to open so I have more internal walls and storage space that way. They’re metal walled and insulated inside but in a garage there’s always going to be draughts so not that much benefit.

I went for Ryterna. They took quite a while to arrive but are pretty decent. The l lads fitting said they used to fit Tekentrupp and the Ryterna are better – but we still had some hinges snap. The installation Co swapped them out no issues though. And there is a catch so once they’ve blown open they don’t swing around.

+1 for the plastic decking risers. You can also get them in various sizes which help if your garden is on a slope.

I put them on 60×60 pavers and my frame on top of that. Means there’s a reasonable step up in to my shed but it’s safe(r) from flooding as we back on to a small river.

The quantity required for a summer house may mean you effectively need a continuous base underneath instead of the spot foundations I made – by which point you may have just done a slab underneath.

    Our MacRide is amazing.

I can echo the comments about it being easy to fit and remove – I used to have it on and off all the time doing the nursery run with it!

The fixed seat angle isn’t ideal for mtb with a long dropper where the fixing point on the seat tube is low, but the stirrups are great.

And yes, the little one need wrapping up extra double plus more than you. You are pedalling and doing all the work for both of you. The little one is a passenger and is getting all your wind chill. They will never be too warm on these seats.

I was going to suggest the O-O Ti456. Mine was a hoot but it was a good generation out of date by the time I got my first full sus in 2013, which was early 650b days. Was the Ragley Ti the (then) up-to-date spiritual successor? Either of those as a mullet would be ace but they’d still feel short compared to something newer.

Yes – that would push the axle out, 5mm wouldn’t it. Might be the “BB-UN26-E” on the shell..

Don’t stress over it and get on with life. I don’t want to get injured more than I need to prove anything to myself. Maybe another day when I’m ON IT, conditions are right and I have friends with me. We need to learn that we can keep it at 7/10 but be happy with it and confident in yourself and however you choose to ride.

For covering all bases as suggested in the OP I’d say an Approach Shoe is what you’re after. Either that or a lighter weight Walking Shoe. I’ve gravitated from Merrel approach shoes to Decathlon walking shoes as I’ve got older and less fashion conscious. Still good for a jog, like when dropping the car off at the garage!

That’s a scraping of metal on metal, probably just a dead bearing or bushing. I don’t know what it is but I’d not be ignoring that.
