Ordering from Cube, assembly at MHW in Germany, shipping to mine. To be fair, they said it would be delivered for assembly early this week so hoping they can turn it around for next week. If not, next.

Not too concerned as it’s so muddy at the moment and I plan to have it as my fair weather ride 🙂

Will keep any eye out in Shipley / Baildon too.

    My routine:

    1) Hose down to remove excess mud
    2) Bucket and water with cheap car wash – sponge or soft brush
    3) Rinse with water
    4) Rinse chain with water or brush off muck (I am using Squirt lube)
    5) Bounce drops off and quick dry with micro cloth
    6) Light spray stanchion – careful not to get on disks, pump fork & wipe clean any grime
    7) Reapply Squirt and cycle chain
    8) Spray GT85 on rag then wipe down frame to polish / resist mud

Only do this when the bike needs it – most of the time I get away with just rinsing it off (GT 85 helps prevent dirt sticking) and sorting out the chain and stanchions as necessary.

Sorry to hear that. You been on ebay etc to see if they have been listed for sale?

Been in a similar relationship many years ago.

Wasn’t healthy! No trust, no self respect, no real relationship. My answer was to act up too.

Was a couple of wasted years.

In a healthy, happy relationship now with a girlfriend who I never worry about in that way.

Cubes are brilliant bikes. Have had a Reaction GTC Pro – now converted to an Elite HPT (titanium). Just ordered an Reaction 29 GTC SL.

Cassettes wear in a shark’s tooth shape. Sounds likely.

If you run a stretched chain then the cassette (and chain rings) will wear and a new chain will jump about and slip.

SporksTrackLive works well on my Android although there is always a discrepancy re altitude, something GPS doesn’t do particularly well.

Stava is the new black apparently.

    I use SportsTrackLive.

Tried Strava after all the hype but couldn’t get it to work on my Android. Couldn’t see how to the thing to start recording a new track.

    Yip, hail, rain and wind.

Moors are as wet as they were before we had that clear spell in March.

Winter gear and mud tyres back on. At least the days are long!

How are you finding the traction using the standard tyres?

Mine arrives soon and am considering buying some mud tyres.

Single track condition are very muddy here.

JPothecary – I messaged Cube via Facebook when I had the same issue for my 26 GTC Pro.

Maybe my definition of light needs to reviewed 😀

Those Beavers are around 500gms which is light enough. My 26 Dirty Dans are around that weight – sadly they don’t make them in 29.

Once tried Panaracer Trailrakers and was shocked at how heavy / draggy they were. Great while I was a beginner but really hard work on the climbs.

I tried Trailrakers but found them very draggy. I now ride Dirty Dans which are much quicker and still have good grip.

If anyone near Bradford want’s a set of Trailrakers (think they are 2.1 folding) I can offer them cheap.

Was out on Baildon Moor/Shipley Glen on Thursday night.

If you let the weather stop you riding in this country you are going to miss out on a lot of riding!

Important to have the right gear but I recon riding in the wet really improves your skills. Like driving a car on a skid pan – makes you more sensitive to how the bike moves around gaining and loosing grip.

Good to strengthen you stability muscles as you have to constantly rebalance and find grip.

Also makes you appreciate good weather 🙂

Cheers. I have hunted down a small red plastic fork branded with Formula. Is this the spreader? Is the idea to insert it into the top to spread the pads?

Found the factory lube doesn’t last too long on a mountain bike.

I degrease, rinse and dry (on a radiator) then add two applications of Squirt. Brush when dry and rinse / wipe when wet and reapply every couple of rides depending on conditions.

As above, it depends on the conditions and type of riding you do.

Winter mud tyres are essential for the moors I ride. During winter they become saturated and very churned up by horses. Really like Dirty Dans 2.0 – light for a mud tyre with lots of grip in deep mud.

In summer the moors dry out so I fit Rocket Ron / Racking Ralph combination which are higher volume and much faster.

Hope have good customer service but the new hubs aren’t ‘bomb proof’.

My Pro 3s packed up after less than 6 months. LBS tech told me he sees loads like mine. New design lets in muck which works it’s way into the freehub.

Hope replaced the entire hub, rebuilt the wheel and even replaced the scuffed rim tape. Excellent service.

Chris Kings have been recommended to me but like you I’m not that wealthy!

From my experience Cube can be a bit slow but have replaced a faulty frame (26) of mine – without even seeing it. Just sent them photos.

Keep us up to date on how it progresses.

A friend of mine had his shed broken into recently – Saltaire, just down the road from Keighley.

Luckily the bikes were secured to concrete fastenings which effectively deterred them removing the bikes from the property.

    These thieves sound very organised.

Shame the police are so unsuccessful when it comes to this sort of crime.

I buy light weight ones so they are worth a patch or two.

    By the way, lines like:

‘The manufacturer only has one left in stock’

    ‘They are running out’

    ‘They have sold out’

…are all lines used to prompt you to buy now / other bikes!

Always shop around and push for the best price. If they won’t drop their retail price ask for additional kit or upgrades.

I saved nearly £300 quid on my Cube Reaction GTC Pro by doing this. All the UK shops wouldn’t budge – no even a quid. MHW Bike House were cheaper to begin with then gave me a best price which was lower again.

Best advice I got on this was to stand up on the pedals more. Takes time but you get used to it.

Also important that you have the correct fit. Professional bike fit via a local bike shop is recommended.

I’m 184cms in height, inside leg: 88cms and ride a 56cms bike. Frame size calculators suggested a larger bike but it didn’t feel right.

Very common to get a sore arse. I’d been riding a mountain bike for more than a year and still got a lot of discomfort. Once you get the right size the simple suggestion of standing up on the pedals when the pain kicks in has worked for me.

Agree with everyone who suggested a proper bike fit. Number of solutions to explore but it pays to get a professional to look at it especially if you are planning to put in the miles.
