I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety over 6 years ago and am still on medication and have been through 2 or 3 series of counselling. Been depression free for 6 weeks now. One thing that I took away from the counseling was being told “if you can’t look after yourself how can you expect to be able to look after others.” I have spent many an hour trying to put myself first, and been beaten by feelings of guilt, etc. The last 6 weeks I have succeeded, but its been an effort over a number of years. Bets wishes OP

I had one, it was great fun. Had to sell it because the width of the bottom bracket wasn’t good for my knees

We had a khyam tent a few years ago. Erected in 5minutes by one person as the fly, inner and poles all connected. Great piece of kit

Used them for a family cycling holiday a few years ago. They were excellent. Beautiful part of the world. Highly recommended

    3 for me:
1997 Orange P7 that I bought new and cant part with; Karate Monkey singlespeed – a keeper; and given that I like my bikes of the steel kind, a surprise when I built up a budget Titus Rockstar

otsdr is correct. Picked mine up from their Barnsley store and they checked the measurements and recommended Hope. Staff were surprised at the price at £299, so not surprised they’ve gone up.

There are 240000 miles of road in the uk and only 20% are heavily used. The infrastructure is there. Remove he term accident from vocabulary – there is no such thing; there is always a cause. That cause results in serious injury. My view is greater penalties for causing injury and death.

I have a 1997 P7 in the garage that I’ve had since new. Always said I would never part with it. I bought a Karate Monkey singlespeed and its the best bike I’ve ever owned including the P7. Bought the KM for the same reasons as OP. The P7 is on its way out.

Loads of camping available in Holmfirth area. From here say, it appears overpriced and underbooked at the moment. Room on my lawn for a 1 person tent

I am hoping to come along, but have a must not miss appointment in Holmfirth at 5 (8yo daughters dance show). Any idea of a finishing time? Rough estimates are all I expect!

Nice one. What was the signage like, route easy to follow? I have some time on my hands next week and thinking of doing this.

Just bought a Karate Monkey, and judging by the way it rides it may well become my only bike. Cant see me riding any other at the moment. Full susser sold, even considering selling my 1997 Orange P7 that I’ve had since new – the Karate Monkey is soooo good

As a rights of way officer for too many years I have come to the conclusion that either (1) we stick with the current legislation and put the staff in place to implement it; or (2) the law is changed in many areas of access so that the low levels of staff have a chance of implementing it. Neither is going to happen, ever. So I ride on footpaths, respectfully and carefully

have a look at http://www.transportdirect.info for journey planners. We found it useful. Sometimes it throws up what you think are unusual routes, but closer scrutiny shows them to be sensible. Our Travel Plan Officer got home postcodes for all staff off HR, put them in the journey planner then emailed the options to staff. First hurdle over, quiet routes found.

I work for a local authority and have been looking at the same issue. Try looking at why people dont cycle to work and the issue will boil down to a fear of cycling in traffic. We have the CTC on board who are offering on-road training for those who havent cycled in a while, a cycle route planner which highlights quiet routes, and a bicycle user group that offers a buddying service. For it to be a success the change has to be supported by ongoing events, I am thinking about evening rides after work for socialising, not far, not fast.
