Amazing sport that requires huge balls, technical skill and fitness. It’s exciting to watch and very competitive. Suprised it’s not massive, I’d love to see it in the olympics.

Just out of interest was the lever mounted on top of your bars or upside down?

Is “Shadow +” the proper name for clutch mechs? And are they available in 9 speed or only 10? Ta.

Yeah that’s right. 10 speed only last time I checked.

I got chainsuck regularly with a clutch mech and double chainset on recent Alps trip. I’ve now fitted a chain device.

Was it a named item on your policy? I’ve recently claimed and my insurance referred me to Wheelies I insisted on a cash settlement and they tried offering me significantly less, I refuse and they ended up paying out the full replacement value of the bike.

Just bought some Head Titan skis. Demoes them in Val Thorens at the end of last season and didn’t want to give them back. Now I’m itching for the season to start and it’s only August.

Cool, I’ll take a look. I was also looking at the Blackspire Stinger it says it’s compatible for 32-40t. I was wondering if that’s for just the big chainring or does it mean for a 32/40 combo?

I don’t think anyone seriously hates them and if they do they’ve got serious issues. It’s only a bike.

Did you read the article or just made wild assumptions based on the pictures?
    Two punches, two.

He’s lying. Those injuries are consistent with a heavy blunt object such as a dildo. I’ve seen those injuries before.

I’ve got a motorhome with a fixed bed, shower/toilet, sink, hob etc. I’ve used the shower once – which might say more about me than the usefulness of having a shower – but the toilet comes in handy!

I absolutely love it, been skiing in Scotland with it, toured Cornwall and touring France for two weeks, starting tomorrow. We are even thinking of shipping it to NZ when we move.

Did consider a VW T5 style and they look cool but went for the extra space. Whatever you get I’m sure you’ll love and have a great time in.

    Here’s mine:

They have a jersey for it in the Tour De France, but I don’t think the mags mean the same thing.

Judging by the guy’s injuries the retired boxer has clearly gone overboard. Can’t condone violence, he should’ve locked himself in a room and called the authorities.

Very light and stiff but my pedal thread debonded with the carbon fibre. FSA to their credit took it back though and replaced it with a new one.

I’m having same problem, Reverb lever is too far and needs some hand adjustment. A matchmaker clamp for the shifters and brakes might solve but not sure if the Hope one is compatible.

EDIT: I’m running RH remote upside down on the left inboard of the brake and shifters

I worked in Licensing for a while and can’t say this surprises me. Some of the complaints we received about taxi drivers were beyond belief. If taxis behave like this get their plate number and report it to the local authority, it will go on record and might make them think twice if their livelihood is threatened.

The permissive bridleway next to Ladybower (the one with the cross road junction at the top) always gave me trouble but I cleared it for the first time last Saturday. I’m pretty heavy though and not very good at climbing.

Get new friends who are fatter than you.

I’m fortunate in that respect. It’s great, makes me feel like a real hero when they congratulate me on making up a climb without stopping.

popmatik , yeah, it’s just an old railway line that has been paved. It ends at Debdale park but you can keep going to the canal, turn left and follow the towpath to a bridge under Alan Turing Way, if you come out there follow signs to the Cycle Centre.

Isn’t there a ban on bikes on a lot of the trails in Chamonix in July/August?

Doubt the walkers will be as militant in France though

From Chorlton you can jump on the Fallowfield Loop all the way until it gets to Ashton Canal near Sport City. From there you can ride to Clayton Vale – just follow signs for National Cycling Centre – do a couple of laps and head back the same way.

That’s a nice distance mainly off road with a bit of mini trail centre fun thrown in. Do that a few times a week and you’ll soon be up to speed.

Saddles are one of those things you can’t really recommend with any confidence. The best ones are the ones that fit and you find comfortable.

Some good deals on Saracen Ariels due to unrealistic rrp set by Madison. They’re very capable and fun bikes.

Much of a muchness really. Go for the one you like the look of the most. Campag and Shimano both work great.

I demoed one and thought it was excellent but went for a Trek Fuel 29er in the end. Giant are pulling the plug on it in favour of 650b so you might be able to get a bargain when the new ones come out.

I’ve got the £1200 Roubaix, which I believe is the same frame as one a few models up. It’s a really comfortable bike, albeit a bit heavier than the CAAD10 it has replaced.

I swapped the wheels to RS80s straightaway as the DT ones that come with are heavy. The Sora groupset is heavy but it doesn’t miss a beat, really impressed with it and can’t tell the difference in shifting compared to 105 I was running on my old bike.

EDIT: Just to add the headtube is very tall on the Roubaix resulting in quite an upright position. It was such a change to the fairly aggresive geo on the caad that I’ve removed a few spacers. It’s probably equivalent to Tarmac geo now, which kind of defeats the purpose I suppose.
