I swapped the Fox 32s in 120 to 140 pikes with the intention of reducing the travel but they feel great so left them at 140

I would have classified myself as a non pooch person having never owned one growing up. I was never anti-dog, I just thought they were a bit smelly and didn’t really see the point in them.

My Missus convinced me to adopt a little mutt from the pound and I’m now definitely a dog person, I can’t imagine life without one now.

One of the better trail centres, but as mcnutty mentioned above there’s some amazing natural stuff nearby.

Amazing riding! I’ve been around a bit and Skye is still up there as one of the most beautiful parts of this planet.

Littering in general really pisses me off. I’m ashamed to say the UK is really bad for it. Selfishness, stupidity and a lack of respect.

Congratulations Rat Boy! Met him at North West Mountain Bike Centre and he was exactly the same in person, nice guy. Also saw him ripping up Farmer John’s once, which was inspiring and demoralising in equal measure.

Congrats to Manon too! It’s a shame they don’t get more coverage, they are World Champs in an ultra competitive, dangerous, exciting sport that takes skill, balls and dedication to win.

The only person who should be hanging his head in shame is the OP. Keep us posted about your mate’s 650B though.

The best helmet is the one that fits comfortably. They’re one of those items that choose you, like ski boots and broom sticks.

POC helmets were the most uncomfortable for my head shape, which I was thankful for because they’re ridiculously overpriced.

I’ve just bought an IXS Trail and it fits me perfectly.

Did Cut Gate yesterday and got pee peed on the entire time. Trails were still in good nick because of the recent dry weather and didn’t see another soul. Really enjoyed it, it felt almost tropical.

Last time I was there I drove up the summit of Mount Ainos on a rocky dirt road. The road was dead because everyone uses the new tarmacked road on the other side to get the top. While on the way up I came across some MXers and thought it looked good for MTB.

It’s 1600m+ so bigger than Ben Nevis which makes for quite a bit of elevation loss. There must be trails on the mountain but other than this dirt track I didn’t say any. If I went back I’d be tempted to take the bike and get my Mrs to drive me to the top.

Lovely island. Have a good time!

People tend to come across that way on the Internet. I bet if you met most people on here they’d be sound.

Brill, plenty to keep me going there. Two things STW never let you down on – beer and coffee.

Cap – there’s a small Waitrose in Manchester City Centre, I’ll pop in and see what they’ve got. Booth’s should have some good stuff too I reckon.

I like Sierra Nevada, Goose Island and some of the Brewdog stuff is nice. I’ll look at the Coopers and Innis and Gunn.

I like Blondie but that was like watching a drunk old slapper butchering their entire back catalogue at a karaoke night.

    Great route, have a goodun.

I did the route last year from Chatel and missed the last lift from Morzine, which meant a long slog over the Col Du Corbier – keep an eye on those lift closing times!!

I’ve ridden at Rivington a few times but never know what the names of the runs are called. Looking at the video posted I don’t think I’ve done San Marino. Where is it in relation to the top of Rivington Pike where that big concrete tower is? We normally ride down from there and then on to a grassy field descent. I got the route off Edge Cycleworks. Maybe I should just come out with you lot sometime.

I took my 29er to the PDS. I only saw one other 29er while I was there. I found it okay but I was mainly doing XC stuff. I did get to a few switchbacks and have to walk all the way back to the beginning of the trail because it wouldn’t fit round.

Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy 240s at the moment? Or is it the usual suspects: CRC, Merlin, German shops etc?

About to pull the trigger on some hookless rims. Can’t decide whether to get 32h F&R or 28h front and 23 rear. I’m 85kg.

My rule is that riding time must be greater than total driving time.

    It was about equal

90 minutes each way. I guess it’s a long way when I’ve got the Peak on my doorstep but I wanted somewhere new to ride and The Lakes District is pretty.

I did Iron Keld/Loughrigg yesterday and absolutely loved it. Parkamoor/Grizedale is amazing too in Southern Lakes. Nan Bield, Borrowdale, as above Parkamoor to Nibthwaite is a brilliant downhill, Walnar Scar. The Lakes have the best riding in England hands down IMO. Very lucky to live there!

Had a ribeye from Red’s True BBQ in Manchester last night and very nice it was too. Saying that I know where the OP is coming from, steak i’ve had in europe is consistently better than your average UK place.
