Just booked Morzine for March with 5 mates. I’m going to the Cairngorms in February and really hoping the snow gods are smiling on me for that.

Agree with the comment that videos like the one posted really get you in the mood. Why didn’t I take up skiing earlier? All those years wasted, better late than never I suppose.

    Here’s part II:

Evidence should precede the conclusion. I think most conspiracy theorists get this the wrong way round.

They also don’t seem to be able to determine quality of evidence.

I think people have a world view and then beleive what fits this narrative. Strangley I’ve found religious people to be very succeptible to conspiracy theories with little tangible evidence.

You work for Tesco’s and you’re morally judging others. Anyone else see the irony?

It’s quite common to see people at my local gym/5-a-side centre, driving around in circles looking for a parking spot right next to the entrance, even though there are loads of available spaces less than 100m walk away.

he opening scene was simply stunning. The music, landscapes, the intrigue of the engineers self sacrifice. I was thinking this is going to be something else.

Then it all slowly turned to sh*t. It was so obvious where Ridley was arguing with the studio and they got their way. Shame as the potential was massive.

    Sums it up for me

Think i’ll leave the skis for a while yet. I’m hoping well fitted boots will help improve control as well as comfort. My feet were wrecked at the end of my last holiday.

MOSI and the one with the planes in are worth a visit. Lowry is pretty crap for kids really. You could always let them join the Ordsall kids jumping off the massive red bridge in to the canal.

How long were you lot skiing before you got your own skis?

Went skiing for the first time last year and absolutely loved it. I’m hoping to get in at least a couple of trips this year. I’ve been putting in the hours at Chill Factore and can’t wait to get back on the mountain.

I’ve got a Cannondale Six and a CAAD10 (same wheels and finishing kit on both). The Six is slightly more comfortable on rough roads, but the difference is hardly noticeable. I actually like the feedback from ally.

Put them on a dog with shades on. Everyone loves a dog in shades.

I think the evangelising about 29ers goes a bit far. I don’t think the 26″ diameter is defunct. The Betamax/VHS analogy doesn’t really work because the move from analogue to digital comes with literally zero downsides – the benefits are clear. The advantages of a 29er only apply in certain situations/environments.

I’ve ridden 29ers and there are definite benefits but I don’t think they are so clearcut as to make the 26″ obsolete. Saying that anyone looking at buying a new bike should definitely consider 29er as an option.

Generally muslims aren’t keen on dogs either. Mohammed wasn’t a fan, especially black ones.

There’s a bloke near me who drives while eating. Ain’t so bad I hear you say? It is when he’s eating a roast dinner on a plate/tray with a knife and fork!

Cwellyn Arms – good pub, campfires permitted, great showers, lake view, right next to Snowdon.

You start using the kitchen scales a lot and agonise over the relative weight of every component, despite the weight difference being less than you’d lose if you had a dump.

You won’t die, in fact you’re probably safer on a hardtail as you won’t be going as fast. Have fun!

the interviews are interesting and quite natural.

    I thought the opposite.

Hopefully it’ll get better, providing they get the audience figures to justify more episodes, so keep watching even though it’s crap.

Sorry to hear about that, crap news.

Withington, Mersey Bank, Nell Lane…West Didsbury is surrounded by some scrotey areas. So glad I got out to the leafy suburbs of Cheetham Hill.

Just boring running stuff for me. Got a pair of Asics Kayano for £55, my old ones haven’t worn out yet but at that price I couldn’t say no. Ordered a pair of Brooks Trance as well to try out.

I’m pretty certain you have to prove the Council was negligent, which means either proving that the Council was made aware of the defect and failed to repair/make it safe or that it has been there for so long that it should’ve been identified as part of their routine highway inspections.

I reckon they successfully defend a lot of claims, simply because of the amount of people who try it on these days.

This also has Tiagra and I’d wager a better frame.

Or you can get a Tiagra equipped Ribble for less.

Surprised by peoples safety concerns. I’ve had road bikes for 10+ years, commute daily in Manchester and never had so much as a grazed knee, whereas I’ve made a mess of myself on several occasions mountain biking.

Love both for different reasons. Neither is particularly dangerous.

EDIT: I bet I get squashed under a bus on tomorrow’s commute for that.

I’m either in The Peaks or Lakes most weekends. Phillps Hall Park in Whitefield is decent for a little spin and Lee Quarry is a short drive away.

What do people think about….. 35mm diameter bars and stems?

That in a few years they will be superceded by 37mm bars and stems, with similar claims of pure amazingness in comparison to the previous standard…
