My boots were uncomfortably tight before they bedded in. If it’d been up to me I would’ve gone a size up, but my boot fitter (Graham at Rivington Alpine), assured me that the liner would pad out and that boots too big are harder to refit.

I used them at Chill Factore for a few hours over a week to bed them in and have been on a few trips this season and they now feel perfect. My ski boots are a whole size lower than my standard shoe/trainer size.

Definitely go to a boot fitter rather than buying off the peg IMO. Good luck!

That Oakley vid is ski porn of the highest order. I’m part inspired, but mainly jealous and dejected that I’ll never be even 10% as good as that.

On the subject of ski graphics, I like these. Although the design looks like it’d be more at home on a teapot.

Clayton Vale it is! Can’t wait, it’ll make the commute miles better. Hope it’s rideable for summer.

First ski trip to Scotland and the weather gods have been very generous. No wind, zero cloud and not too chilly. Off to Glencoe today so hopefully it’ll be the same over there.

    Log your holes here; http://www.fillthathole.org.uk/
Then get as many people as you can to log the same hole/s and see how fast it gets repaired

You’re better off going directly to the council.

If you wanted to claim for damages, you’d have to prove the Council failed in their duty to repair the pothole in a reasonable amount of time. Council’s aren’t automatically liable because potholes can appear overnight. If the Council’s routine inspections failed to identify it or you reported it and it didn’t get fixed then you’d have a better chance if you wanted to claim.

The Council have a duty to make it safe, even if the hole is as a result of the water board’s work. Councils can enforce utility companies to do the work or go back and finish work but they should still make it safe.

I’m heading up to Aviemore on Friday for a pre Alps warm up. Don’t expect the Alps/US and you won’t be disappointed. If the weather gods are smiling Scottish skiing can be amazing. Even crap boarding/skiing is better than no boarding/skiing.

All these little gripe aside, the technology we have at the moment is absolutely amazing. I still marvel at these devices, be it iPad, iPhone, Android or whatever. Maybe I’m easily pleased :D

Slight hijack (apologies OP) – in order to qualify for a grad scheme, do you need to be a recent graduate? I graduated four years ago with a 2:1 in Computing but have been working in a call centre ever since.

I will be getting the KS Lev when I get enough 1 and 2 pences together. I prefer the idea of cable actuated in a worst case scenario situation and the Lev looks very tidy.

Nice video, that’s got me in the mood. T minus 6 weeks and counting. I’ve got a week in Scotland first, so hopefully get a slide in at some point. Just booked Val Thorens late April as well, that’s me broke for the rest of the year.

wind noise makes them unusable whilst running/riding.

I find that hard to believe considering I find the old ones perfectly usable when running. Unusable…really?

I had a similar dilemma, I went for the group course in the end. I’ll be honest it was mainly due to money but I’m hoping if we’re all at a similar level we can help each other out and learn from each other’s mistakes. I’ve had good experiences in the past with small group lessons. If I’m really lucky they’ll be some moderately attractive single ladies in my group :D

    ARMAGEDDON IN MANCHESTER!!

Light dustings of snow are causing minor inconvenience for drivers and making old people think twice about going outside.

I’ll keep you all posted if the situation deteriorates. Stay safe out there.

Bag it and bin it. If in the middle of nowhere stick and flick out of the way where it’ll decompose. Hanging it in trees is nasty.

It’s all too frequently the case with these alleged conspiracies that the people who subscribe to them have not examined evidence from both sides. There seems to be a tendency to form a conclusion before a thorough critical examination of the evidence. Also, many people are seemingly incapable of determining what good evidence actually means.

For example I’ve spoken to people who believe all sorts of craziness because a website/YouTube video has posted an explanation with no empirical evidence or credible sources.

Please look at both sides of the argument, examine who has the most evidence/most reliable evidence and then form a conclusion. The last time I looked in to this, all of the conspiracy theories surrounding the controlled demolition of the towers was completely evicerated by numerous highly respected experts in their respective fields. A glance through that website is offering no new compelling evidence that makes me want to change my mind.

Conspiracies definitely exist, but they’re ususally of the more mundane CIA assaniation, subtefuge variety and even they usually get exposed. Apart from the lack of credible evidence, I just don’t think the US Government has the competency to pull it off.

I’ve got Emu sheepskin boots (like Uggs) that I strictly wear indoors as slippers in the house. I ran out in them to catch the bin men the other day and they all (justifiably) pi$$ed themselves at me.

A mate is taking his family to Les Houches for 3 months from January, and has invited me over for a week or so, I’m skint and he’s offered to pick me up, loan me his Mrs’ pass, sleep on the spare bed etc.

I am skint (may become unemployed in Jan)…but it seems daft not to: all I need is flights, some money to spend & get them gifts & some day passes, am I being stupid in thinking I shouldn’t?

    Yes

Can anybody recommend a transfer company to go from Geneva to Morzine? Aplybus is the cheapest I have come across at around £40 per head for the 6 of us (return trip too). That or does anybody live in the area that wants to make a couple of quid at the end of Feb?

£40 sounds like a good deal. Our chalet’s transfer service is charging £55 per head return.
