@dc1988 Its got 160mm front and rear. I’m usually out and about around South Wales somewhere so if you’re ever in this neck of the woods you’d be more than welcome to a poke around the bike and a quick spin.

Final warning, you will get asked about the bike all the time while you are out riding. Its quite nice to have people interested 🙂

I’ve got one and I absolutely love it.

Had it since 2020 and still have no idea what I’d replace it with if I needed to. It’s a 27.5 wheeled frame and full custom geo. 62 head angle and 500 reach.

I ordered when there was still a Marino UK who then dealt with comms to Peru which helped a bit I didn’t need to worry about the language issues. From sign off of the plans to delivery of the frame took about 6 months. The frame actually arrived Christmas Eve, best Christmas pressie ever!

Its one of the most stable bikes I’ve had, and Ive had a fair few. At the same time it’s really flickable and changes direction brilliantly but never feels twitchy. Overall I would definitely have another one and have considered getting something more outlandish from Marino (Potentially a full 200mm DH monster with a gearbox).

Go in with your eyes open. He is going to build what you ask him to, be sure about your numbers. Comms maybe patchy at times and it might take a while to get into your hands. But you’ll get a lovely frame with your own geometry for an absolute bargain price.

I have no idea how to post a pic so here is a link to the other place

I’ve got one. The process took 6 months pretty much to the day. I dealt with Marino UK and Luke and he was really helpful and really good to deal with, I’m not sure if they are working at the moment as their website says they are closed.

In terms of geo I took a few ideas from existing bikes I knew I liked and tweaked things a bit further. I’m really pleased with the end result. I’ve got a bike that rides absolutely brilliantly and its a nice feeling to know its a custom build frame.

Sometimes the communication was a little patchy and there were a couple of confused/mixed messages, but we got those sorted out between us.

Over all I would recommend them, however I cannot see how they could possibly deliver in the 10-12 weeks they quoted to me when I placed my deposit. Go in with your eyes open and be patient and you will get a great frame.

Very pleased indeed with how mine has turned out. Only had a quick shakedown ride on it so far and now looking forward to lockdowns being over so I can take it out properly.

Add me to the copy and paste list too, I got the same email 🙂

Be a lovely surprise if it does arrive before Christmas, but at least it seems they are in the country so that’s a big step forwards.

Edit – Yeah you’re right. Its just been a very frustrating wait. Really would like to actually see the frame soon though

Well I guess that’s another week slipping by without any sign of a frame yet, unless anyone else has heard different and they are finally on their way?

I have a feeling I’m going to hit 6 months of waiting. At what point do I get cold feet, panic about the sick bikes debacle and try to pull the plug on it?

Fingers crossed we’re almost there. I got photos of mine completed and painted last weekend and it looks brilliant. Can’t wait for it to get here.

Here’s hoping the shipment is only a couple of weeks or so. I also have a huge pile of parts waiting here. Must stop buying more stuff!

When did you order @marksnook? I put my deposit down at the end of June and was told 8-10 weeks. Clearly they are no where near that, I’m almost at 21 weeks now.

I saw they put a load of pics up on instagram and Facebook earlier from which my frame seems suspiciously absent. I’ve been waiting pretty much 3 weeks now just for a photo of my completed frame. They told me it was completed BTW.

I may be being very cynical at this point but it really feels like I’m being taken for a ride (not in a good way either!).

I don’t hold out much hope of them hitting any date they offer any more. Frankly it’s starting to leave a pretty sour taste for what was meant to be a bit of a treat having never totally specced my own frame before. Monday is when I send out a chasing email to them, this Mondays mail will probably be pretty blunt and may well end in a cancellation.

My patience is at its limit I think.

So has anyone that was expecting their frame to be shipped this week been asked for a payment yet? From what I was told back in September I was expecting photos of the completed frame and a request for the outstanding amount prior to shipment. I’ve not had that yet so its starting to feel like another week slipping by without much progress.

I’m beginning to think of asking for my deposit back at this point.

I’ve seen pics of the front triangle of my frame painted and finished so I think it probably is done. I’ve just not seen it put together yet. My deposit was paid at the very end of June if that means anything at all?

Hopefully its all coming to a close now though and we’ll have frames in our hands soon. Can’t wait to have the frame, but the wait and comms have been pretty painful. I was told 8-10 weeks from deposit it’d be with me, but they’ve missed every single date they’ve given me so far.

To be honest if they’d told me that it would be 6 months up front I’d have been fine with it. Its the constant missed deadlines that they are offering that’s grating a little now.

I’m sure it’ll all work out for the best in the end though

Good to see you’re getting some progress on it. Apparently my frame is finished now, I’m just waiting on pictures. I also got told it would ship this week so fingers crossed they’ll be on their way soon.

Your frame looks like it will be awesome!

I ordered and paid a deposit on a custom FS Marino at the end of June. Its currently painted and having bearings fitted prior to the final alignment check. Its taken a while but that’s ok with me as I have another bike I can use in the mean time.

Shipping should be imminent I hope.

I’d recommend going through Marino UK too. I dealt with Luke and he has been brilliant with at dealing with a garage of questions from me and is pretty quick to respond to any queries.

I’ve ordered and am waiting on a a custom frame and I went with British racing green with dark yellow decals/accents.

Can’t wait for it to turn up, but I’ve been feeling like that for 3 months now!

I’ve been considering a Hyundai i800 as my next car as it seems to cover moving the family and assorted gubbins around alongside working as a bike van at weekends.

Anyone have any experience of them? I’ve been looking at 2019 versions if that makes any difference to the go for it/run for your life type of response.

I’ve got one and had a problem where the seat post and remote stopped pairing no matter what I did. It took a couple weeks and a little chasing but came back and works faultlessly again.

In answer to what they are like, I really like it. Yes there is a tiny lag between pressing the button and the actuators opening to let the post move. Yes they stay open for a set amount of time so if you push the button, slam the seat down and get up instantly it will come back up a tiny bit before the actuator closes.

These are things that all the reviews state. However within a couple of pushes of the switch to use the post I got used to it. It’s all second nature and I don’t think about it at all any more.

Its a really nice post to use, doesn’t need loads of charging and baring that one warranty issue has worked really well. I’ve had mine just over a year

@singlespeedstu Out of curiosity what was the waiting time between confirming your geo and paying a deposit and then seeing the frame getting built?

I’m wondering how long the build queue is at the moment

Does anyone know when the 2020 Nukeproofs are due out? I’ve been looking at a scout 290 comp and most places seem pretty much out of stock now

Guide Rs on a giant reign here. Had it a year and a half and apart from needing new pads they’ve been faultless. Really great brakes in my experience so far..

I’ve not had one before, but a neighbor of ours did a few years ago. Really lovely dog but it certainly did love a walk. Something else to bear in mind is their one certainly enjoyed a howl. Didn’t bark much and the noise it made never bothered us but I do think as a breed they are somewhat “talkative”. He was a lovely little guy mind you

Might be worth bearing in mind

Thanks for the advice guys. Wheels spun regularly and it was still holding its air nicely last night so seems to be all good. Can’t wait to get out and give it a try now 🙂

I had this for a while when I used the cleats that came with the pedals. Switched to Shimano cleats and it went away instantly.

I have a set of V-twins too. I really like them. I’ve tweaked the plastic bumper height using the shims they came with and added the pins and they now feel like a set of flats just with the security of a cleat.

Personally I’m really impressed with them, pedals are a pretty personal choice thing though really..

I have a Fabric cageless bottle and its never let me down, it is however an absolute bugger if you wanted to be able to use it on the move. I find it holds the bottle too tight..

I do however really like it
