Would a Jones steel diamond with truss fork be suitable for a 5’9″ rider?
I am just wondering if I could get the bars low enough with a truss fork, maybe have to use a negative rise stem. I should try and get a test ride, I think bothy bikes still have a demo. As jameso is a designer and owner of a Jones would like to know more about what he thinks make this bike work, is it the fork, bars and low bb height that make it. All nice bikes, shame the fortitude is no longer in production.

So there is the revised croix de fer, a fat bike and some 650b hardtails, I wonder what else? Sometime in September is the launch day?

So, it may or may not matter depending on a whole host of other factors.

Can of worms is right. I am a big fan of Kona, but the Honzo and Taro just don’t do it for me, no matter how short that chainstay is, and I do like a front mech (I know someone has fitted one onto a Honzo). The Canfield I love, but spendy. Look forward to reading about the new Saracens when more info appears, and yet that Trek just seems so good, and I really liked riding a Superfly. Thanks for any input especially when Kaesae is taking up everyones attention.

    Is Kaesae a bit odd?

I like the look of the Saracen 29ers, then I saw the Zen 650b, looks very interesting! Genesis road bikes look good, just wish there was a report on it. Didn’t anyone go?

There was a short review I think on Bikeradar (make of that what you will) which said that even with shallow tread tyres it was coming very close to the down tube. As long as it is just very close and not hitting.

I also would like to know. I went last year and left after about half an hour, not very good. If it is terrible weather on Sunday I may go; and if Daves long term test Santa Cruz Highball carbon is on the Singletrack stand I will go just to try it out for size.

No to the Niner and the Cotic and no steel bikes. I had thought about the Scott Scale alloy, just found out they can be bought frame only as well. If the Canfield Yelli Screamy wasn’t so expensive it would be great.

I haven’t bought a bike magazine in ages, gave up on Singletrack 3 years ago. However, I was in Stirling yesterday and got 3 magazines, Singletrack, Dirt and Switchback. I had never heard of Switchback but enjoyed it (only issue 2). Dirt I liked a lot, never thought I would read an article about 29ers in it. Singletrack was as deadly dull as when I last read it, no sense of excitement or interest, and the only good photos were in the Destination X article and they were not taken by ST staff I presume.

Is this the same bike on MTBR? Very nice looking bike, it’s just a shame that there is no dealer in the UK.

Are the extremes of the cassette really usable, and what front ring do you use?

What would people like to see on this frame?
Chainstay disc mount? I would like a 16″ seat tube, I like low slung, good standover frames (easy to get off and get my leg over) and with the advent of long strong reliable seatposts it shouldn’t be a problem. I looked into a Jones steel diamond frame but it has a 18″ seat tube which makes it just too big for me, and I like the spring of exposed seatpost.
    Any other suggestions?

I thought it was rubbish. Waste of my time and money. Hopefully it will be better next year (if it comes back).

All those stoves are o.k., but if you really want a good stove there is only one option…

A fantastic girl who asked if I was interested in a one night stand. I said I didn’t do that kind of thing.
3 Australian women who wanted to take me back to there room for a fun night, I said I couldn’t because I had to find a drunk friend who had gone missing (I did find him, never did see those 3 again).
Best female friend who announced that she had fancied me for years and that I should spend the night. I said I had to go as I had an early start the next morning.
The list goes on and on, all seem to involve women and me doing what I perceived to be the right thing at the time. My friends think I am an idiot (they may be correct).

You were probably knocking one out, splashed your muck over your computer screen and didn’t hear the postman. Or your doorbell wasn’t working.

Of course it would probably be very expensive even if you could get someone to do it in the UK.

Went back and found the article on Gun-Kote on the twentynine inch site. Seems to be very good, very tough and very light.http://twentynineinches.com/2010/09/07/gun-kote-frame-coating-final-review/

Right sized wheels, gears, suspension; isn’t that a Saracen/Specialized/Giant etc?
I thought for a long time that a 29er would be the wrong size for me, but after trying a 650b (Haro Beasley) then a couple of 29ers, I have decided that for ‘me’ it’s the right sized wheel. I’m only 5’9″ and ride in Scotland, so it’s not just for giants who ride on towpaths and bridle ways.

Is everyone on this forum a prick? I thought this thread was going to be about motorbikes, but instead it's a cock fight between fantasists. (ah! it's the summer holidays, this explains it all).

The Scheme, should still be on the BBC i-player. Only 2 episodes so far, they have stopped the other two pending a court case. Honestly the funniest and saddest thing on TV, it's what Scotland is really like!
