Emailed rockshox about this months back and they said the clamp was not designed to be used seperately and basically said no, don’t do it.

got on on my bike fits just fine, as its the same clamp with a extra bolt you can remove, the normal type came with a little alu block to make the gap smaller so morns wouldn’t snap their carbon bars if they over tightens the clamp, but its the same clamp, in short fits just fine, pic of what i mean below, mmx clamp comes with out little black thing in the middle, which you wont need if you’re not ham fisted

How long will it take you to earn the £500? If you can fork it out and still do all the other spending that you do in a month then probably yes. If it takes you 12 months to save it and you have to cut out other things to do so, I’d say no.

If you are bunging it on a credit card, I’d have a look at the current economic climate and have a serious think about it.
