We usually hire stuff as/when we need them. We used to have stuff like the van and units that can be towed on fleet, but they cost alot and never got used.

we have used on of these a few times and also the bigger units –

Should fit on a small site

Ditto above – On road bike today. Went out in warm weather clothing, got hail, rain and a massive head wind on the way home – only did 20miles as I didn’t fancy another loop.

(although the weather looks lovely now) 🙄

I was in an opposite situation to yourself.
I currently have a Remedy, and although I love thrashing it around, I want something lighter for faster climbing etc.

I have found that lots of hardtail riding, and riding with some good xc racers (they have Anthems) over the winter means I’ve seen what can be done on a xc full suss (they go off some big drops) and my bike handling now seems better then it used to be.

I ordered the Nerve XC 9 in the end – I will see when it arrives if I sell the Remedy or keep it to do some Enduro series type stuff.

I’ve just ordered a Nerve XC9 today. Was going to go for the 8, but was too tempted by the X0 groupset and the Mavic wheels.

    Got a 5 week wait, but I don’t mind

    Was thinking that myself mtbtomo.
The kit list on the Canyon 8 is great for the price – full 30speed XT, fox float 120 fit forks etc.

I could even go for the Canyon Nerve 9 for less than the Trance and that comes with fill X0 groupset and Mavic Crossmax ST wheels.

My biggest problem is size – my Remedy is XL (21.5 virtual 20.5 actual). I think I would go for the 20inch Canyon, as by the geometry sheet, that seems about right.
The Trance I can try out for myself

Just done my first XC race today too.
Did the Midland XC rd 2 at Birchall. It was a great course with very good singletrack and with a good A and B line choices
Only did the “go race” as I thought 3 laps would be enough. I was right. Riding flat out took more out of me than I thought. Still I had a great time, came 5th and will be at round 3 (hanchurch woods) 😀

The Remedy is the 8 – 2010 model apart from the fact it has 2008 lyrik 2 step forks.

Oh – and wants the going rate for a second hand remedy 2010?

I’m there tommorrow – as a pair team.
Rode from Burton to Catton today. Registered and had a go round the course – it was nice, dusty and fast.

Say hello if you see a tall bloke in a lloyds cycles top on a Red genesis.

Seen a few posts about putting the bike in the house, won’t .this mean that you are just going to get your house broken into to get the bikes. There was a case where one of the singletrack lad’s house was broken into while his missus was there – not a nice experience.

Garage, ground anchors and good chains + alarm.

    I’m just using a PC970 chain with SRAM 97..something 11-34 cassette.
Got a 34 ring on the front with a superstar chain guide – its all working really well at the moment, no dropped chain or much chain strain.

My vote goes for two midlands cities –

Birmingham – Worked all over the place and its the only place I’ve been shot at. Some scumbag in a block of flats with an air rifle 😯

Wolverhampton – Rubbish traffic, Rubbish shops, and again found myself under threat from locals, one chucked a TV out of his house at us due to the power being off.

I’m in – its only down the road, so would be rude not to.

I’ve entered Enduro 6 also, hopfully get my team mate from that involved

    I’ve got the Altitude 10.
I really like the bike, had it now for about 18 months now, and used it for long epics to trail centre outings.

I will be doing a couple of XC races and enduros on it this year, however it isn’t as light as some Alu bikes.

Just converting mine to a 1×9 setup and going to see how that goes round cannock on Thursday

I’ve got a company car, so I pay £165 per month for a 09 Mondeo Titanium x. That cost includes all breakdown, insurance, tax, replacement tyres and parts.

At the end of the day I will never own it, but I don’t mind as I do 30k miles a year and i will generally be run into the ground, so Im glad its not mine.

Just pay what you can afford.

Road ride on sat, and Road ride on Sunday as the local trails last night were hub deep in mud.

However I have booked up two weekends away, one to Kirroughtree/Malbie/Dalbeatie and the other to Afan/Cwncarn – role on spring

It was a great insight into the people and the racing of that time.
Those cars were great, and the drivers were just fearless. When Jackie Stewart explained that they were fueled by aviation fuel and the fires that they had, it was a real eye opener.

I think the documentary was really good and I too was a little emotional at the way he died.

Have to agree with Jedi – Dry local trails!

Was thinking of giving today a miss, but went out locally, nr Burton, and it was like the first days of spring, fast, dry and without loads of undergrowth grabbing at ya legs – great fun!

The second best bit was not needing to clean the bike – bonus 😀

I’ve got an 09 Mondeo Titanium X 140 hatch. Drives really well and all the kit is great. Have covered 50000 miles in it in just under two years with no problems. fits loads of kit in the boot and the estate is just silly big.

Kit wise they are great. Got heated seats, ipod/usb/DAB radio, bendy headlights, keyless entry and automatic everything else.

My only grip about them is the fuel economy. I am getting around 42 mpg over mixed city and motorway trips (boot loaded with test equipment). However my previous car (Vauxhall vectra) was doing nearly 50mpg. However, I think ford have just brought out an new range of diesels that are more fuel efficient.

Picking my next car this summer and the Golf or Passat estate are high on my list due to the bluemotion TDI engines

    Lloyds cycles in Swadlincote.

Chris and James organise local rides on and off road with a great group of lads. Always give great service and advice – what more could you ask for.

I wondered what that cop car was on the m42 this wednesday.

I saw it pull over someone on the southbound M42 nr Solihull. Not much room for traffic cones in the back and its not hard to spot in the rear view mirror

PS – ironically it had pulled over a Nissan Sunny – it must have had to use all of its speed 😉

    Great Pictures –
Flaine is a great place, its where I first learnt how to snowboard. Still board sometimes, but I’ve gone back to skiing, as all our group are skiers and boarding solo is not as fun. Also as u mentioned above – icy black mogul fields are fun on two planks but not one.

PS- that binding looks proper fecked. Hire or your own? How?

Last weekend it was very sloppy. Hard work, but still fun.
Wouldn’t travel 2 hours to do it unless you know some locals to show you the rest (Best) of the chase

I think it is more a security issue. I have been to a few multi metered installations where some people have been robbing the electric by by-passing the meter.

as long as he is happy to come over and let you read the meter supplying your property whenever you request then it seems ok. If he won’t come and let you in to the meter position – then wee on his shoes

My company (A German one) has decided to give us the day off as an additional bank holiday.

They took a month or so to decide. However I don’t really give a damn about the royals, so I will either be riding, or opt to do a Standby for a bit of double time and a day off when I want it 🙂

I was in your position just before christmas and ended up getting one of these from CRC –

    Cube Peloton

Had a 10% off voucher as well, so went for it as a few people had advised to go for Tiagra over Sora.

    Sheilas Wheels.

We have house and contents with them and this includes my bikes. Some are cheaper, but not by much. I have had to use them recently and they paid for a new frame when mine was damaged. The claim was quick and easy and went through fast.
