Jeez…no generalists here then. All bikers are tosses apparently! I’ve been biking 12 yrs. Been all over europe and Scotland, do about 6000 miles a year as a weekend warrior. And yes I do have one of those multi coloured 1000cc sports bikes that some of you seem to dislike. I also know many similar bikers, many of which are also cyclists, be it MTBers, roadies, commuters, grass laners. Very very few bikers are knob-ends….in fact it’s probably a lesser proportion than those in cars.

Bikers tend to be very road aware, they need to be to be safe. Also what might look like a dangerous overtake to a non-biker may be because you are looking at it from a car drivers pov where you would need a lot more space. A bike can overtake much quick era nod with less space although many road users do get upset with bikers because they do not understand that. I have actually been deliberately knocked off my bike by a car driver as I was the last in a group to overtake.

It’s never right to be speeding through a 30mph zone but don’t tar all riders with the same brush. And BTW the one piece leathers are the safest thing you can wear as when you’re skidding done the road they don’t ride up exposing your skin.

Until recently I had a giant trance x1. My OH has an orange five pro 650b. We do GT red and black regularly. I’d pick the Orange every time. The geometry on the trance was too steep on the headset (not sure how this compares on the anthem).

The Trance climbs brilliantly and you do see many anthems at GT but to me the orange five is a lot more fun and more robust. Only downside that I can see on the five is that it can’t be converted to 2×10 due to placement of the pivot weld. OH has actually converted his to 1×10 with a 34t front ring. Looks great but you need to be pretty fit to handle it.

Agree with dared, looks like a overdrive 2 which is 1.5″ to 1.125″ taper and a nightmare to get. I had to get a giant one for my old bike and trying to replace the stem was equally difficult.

I’ve got same problems along with asthma which aggravates the cough. I take a sudafed (blocked nose and sinus one) in the morning before I leave and it seems to help enormously.

I have a fizik vesta. Gear support and all day comfort (and I’ve got a big ass!). Did the demo thing with dales Glasgow beforehand. I had a fizik go I before that and the difference is night and day. I fact I had reason to ride the other bike with the gobi on it and ’twas torture. It’s definitely trial and error though so demo definitely recommended.

Definitely kirroughtree. IMO it’s the best of em. Glentress just for the variety. Red blue climb from trailhead, then black climb to the mast road, the red all the way down to bottom of magic mushroom. Climb back up to buzzards nest carpark, do berm baby berm two or three times and then Betty blue and falla brae back down to carpark.

Don’t waste your time on Ae.

Good luck with that. I’ve got an xt 2×10 set up. LBS says bash can’t be fitted to it….something to do with bcg mounts or something?

One maybe two birds eye chillies will be enough with a half can of tomatoes. Personally would use a normal chilli with half the seeds out, I.e. Cut in half and de-seed one half. Quarter cup white sugar is a helluva lot too. Prob a teaspoon would be enough for that mix. Try allrecipes.com. They allow you to pick imperial or metric and how many servings you want.

Had a demo on one of these a couple of weeks ago. It was fantastic. Love the club tropicana colours.

    Enjoy!

Check network settings under general if it’s a 3G version. My OH had the same problem after a recent trip to Spain when he had turned off roaming and forgot to turn it back on

My OH and I started mtb at the same time but he used to do motocross racing so was used to how the bike moved about under him. I was really struggling at first but got a one to one private tuition from Andy at ridelines at glentress one rainy Friday and have never looked back. Can comfortably do reds and most blacks now ( been riding 8 months). Andy was great – can still hear him saying I could do reds no probs when I’d told him I was too scared to do them.

Just ordered a new bike – soon as I get it going back to Andy for another 1to1 to pick up on a few things. I’d highly recommend him for your missus. Top guy.
