Same as francisobegbie – Put my existing Advantage 2.25 in a new Reba SL maxle last night and it is very very tight. Will give it a run ouot in some mud, but thinking a smaller tyre is needed.

So, in summary, no, very much doubt 2.4 advantage [ballon tyres] will work with Reba’s.

Just realised how short they look. Not sure I could live with that many spacers…

Yunki – the indoor bouldering walls at Dartrock in Buckfastleigh are actually great fun and good/safe way to get started. Not too expensive either

Just reading the final few pages at the moment!
Has been eye opening to me, for the history or Patagonia and the extents to which they have gone to reinforce triple bottom line values. From what I have seen it seems that Howies do not go to the same extents as these guys to do good, however I think those radulous guys down at Finisterre are having a good old crack at it.

What I have been especially pleased with is the fact that Chouinard started making climbing gear himself and built the company on reputation for quality localy made goods, originally.

While we are at it, one of these here ‘ragley geometry bikes’ with 120mm front and 100 rear would be pretty handy too….

Bugger, new this was coming up and would love to make it but can’t. Will be attempting the Bodmin Triathlon on Sunday and really should be resting me legs on saturday.
Have noted the forthcoming Bivvi trip and will try and attend that.

philjunior – sorry to hijack thread, but if you are after a frame only of that type/travel size…I have a Specialized Pitch frame going cheap over on the classifieds….may suit your needs and save you some cash…

Well i’m not that heavy and haven’t bent a seatpost yet [my current 27.2 is corroded into an old steel frame awaiting surgery] but have been annoyed by rusting bolts and tricky adjustment….so is adjustment easier on a Thomson?

ChunkyMTB – well this thread is helping prove to me I require a large. I am after a frame only, not complete bike. So please can you email me details and pictures of your frame? Email in profile

Good news Gary. Think my last 2 bikes have been a bit too small, seat tube always on max and feeling perched on the bike. Rode a friends yeti 575 tonight in large and it felt pretty good.

Haven’t tried this myself, but some of my younger colleagues on my MA download the trial version from adobe website. Then there is another website that gives you serials numbers to make the samples work. only catch is that you can not be connected at the same time as using the software….

Wheelie respect. For a minute there I thought you were wheelying[?] without feathering the rear brake….then I realised you have Euro Styley brakes set up….

Just to say, some of us Buckfastleigh chaps, jumped in the van and headed over to the cleave last night. Nice route down from the back of Haytor, through the cleave, up water then lanes around to Barracott farm, down the Nutcracker, back over the top and down to the stoney bridge / river crossing, then back up to back of haytor. Felt like a really tough ride. But Nutcracker is just great isn’t it!

How ‘hard’ [for want of better word] do you guys ride your inbred 29ers? e.g steep tech stuff, little bit of air time and drop offs…. And do you feel they are fast enough for the odd xc race duty

Ref all the comments about Stevo, hope he’s still there, after all there is a lot of Design work there now with the new brand – & On One still needs new and developed product. Stevo did a very good job with the new carbon bikes, swapout systems and helping to improve the way in which you can buy / spec bikes from On-One

The 1st two pictures from this wreckage and pedalhead are really working for me! Together with seeing them flying around at Bonty 24/12 at the weekend and planning an xc bike purchase.
Would love to try one. Any rigid SS swifts around South Dartmoor?

“terriers are the anti-christs of dog training”

    hahaha

We have a BT. Gylly turns one next week and we still have the same problem, although possibly he is getting a bit better..

Our dog training lady recommended A squeaky toy. We were told to never let him have this all the time, just a little play when he comes back

Keep trying to desenitise to other dogs / exciting things.

Running off in the other direction and saying “this way”has worked much better than come here… ie we said “this way” and ran away and now over time “this way” can almost be said without running away as he thinks we are going…

However we still have a long way to go. I think this is the hardest thing to master with a Border Terrier.

However Gylly is asleep under my desk right now and you would not think he could be such a nuisance!

    Is it a LUST 2.1?
I wasn’t really after tubeless though, having run ghetto tubeless through the winter I could go back to it I suppose, what pressure works well for you?

Boring / predictable but i’ve been wondering about tyres since the 24/12….
I always felt I had the wrong tyres…I started with some Conti Speed kings which I thought may be great if muddy and help lighten me up, but found they were proving lethal in the woods and I missed the confidence of my normal Advantages and swapped back to 2.25 advantages, my confidence came back, but they felt draggy in the mud…

Did anyone feel that they had a good tyre set up for the conditions / track?

Yea, course was tough, but great beacause if that. Had a skills awakening though as it took me 3 laps to get through the 1st bombholey section without a dab!

Indeed – I followed them through one of the quicker bits of singletrack in Bluebell woods for a bit and their riding was very impressive!

    dare I say it…superstar…kevlar ones
if they are thicker then that will explain it. i’ll get the wheels on and make them wear down a bit I suppose?

Stevede – The bottom section of supertavi, the bit you can’t see from the push up track is mega tough couldn’t get down it! HSD is great and I agree the 4th track sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Stevede – You ride your Pitch on Super Tavi/Egypt? I’ve tiptoed down Super Tavi once on mine, tiptoed is hardly riding though!

@cruzheckler That interesting about your preference of Advantages. As a friend of mine who is a far better rider than me felt the advantages on my bike [when he rode it] were really good also and far better than the 2.35 nevegals he was using…
