There’s an awful lot of intolerance going on in this thread.

If someone’s beliefs don’t chime with yours (whatever they might be) but don’t harm you either (and I have been on the receiving end of some pretty (to me) harmful so-called Christian beliefs), can’t you just live and let live?

There are many things done in the name of a religion which would not be condoned by rational members of that religion. Extremists are to be found everywhere.

Speaking as a Christian, I find so-called Christian extremists at least as scary as any other extremists.

I don’t call any rational follower of any faith rude names and don’t like being insulted for my beliefs.

Why does any rational person feel the need to insult another person’s beliefs as long as those beliefs don’t harm anyone or incite harm against another?

Always found Belgium to be a pretty safe place to drive as well.

Yep, fab around here. Can get to Coombe Gibbet and back (about 38 miles) with minimal road use from our house. Loads of good routes, all legit (have to be legit for me – seems only reasonable).

Can someone explain to me in simple terms how what seems to be an innocent website has landed our friend in such poo?

Basically, as I understand it, browsers will request images from other sites which have been linked to from the site you are browsing. You have no control over where those images come from and therefore what a log of your browsing will show is a bit of a lottery.

I hope I’ve got this right.

Why would people from Pakistan want to murder a Bulgarian dissident? Assuming you are referring to Georgi Markov?

If they were offering a decent rate (especially for niche skills) they wouldn’t need to worry about you going elsewhere.

They would kick you out on a moment’s notice if they were to run into difficulties… Just take it and make sure there is a notice period either way so that you can go to Switzerland if you get an offer. DO NOT sign a six month contract where they can give you a week’s notice but you can’t get out: I’ve seen too many of those.

It really annoys me when companies expect loyalty from their employees and contractors but aren’t prepared to offer any loyalty in return.

Take the job and then leave if you get an offer from a higher bidder: it’s what contractors do and they should realise that.

Sounds cynical, but I’ve been let down by enough companies to realise that my only work loyalty is to me. It’s the way it has to be now, sadly.
