In the end the poor soul was in such an awful position that his only hope was to go to one of his other houses, A true tragedy.

What an unpleasant thing to say. You do come across as a nasty little person. I hope it never happens to you – you won’t be deserving much sympathy.

The last dream I can remember (several indistinct ones in between) involved being told off by someone in authority for having unburied dead bodies in a car and the bodies falling apart when we tried to move them. No blood or rotting flesh problems, though.

No client to go to tomorrow. (The two things are not connected.)

… But I’d really, really appreciate a cigar right now.

Haven’t smoked for a month – and six weeks before that – I might need one soon. Only trouble is I need a smoke when I’ve had a beer and then I can’t drive to get some cigars!

Radisson Blu Palace in Spa after a lovely toodle past Spa Francorchamps and around Malmedy and Stavelot today in the Audi with the roof down. Lovely. Meal in Le Baron in Coo as most of Spa is either closed or booked for NYE.

Had a ride up the ascenseur to Les Thermes this morning.

Overrated? Not at all! A lovely chance for a trip away.

Back to client hunting tomorrow though. Really need a client in early 2016 or things will go bad!

Hey Mr Overshoot you maintain extremely well.

You certainly won’t get any judgment from me – we have had our problems here and I like a drink a bit / lot more than I should.

Always some issues here as I want to live abroad and MrsJulianA doesn’t.

Do what you need to do to get through – I’m going to have another beer right now. That’s me… I love MrsJulianA to bits but this may never go away. Shall probably buy cigars tomorrow despite having given up…

My father in law is fantastic – love him to bits. We lost my mother in law on 27th December last year and things aren’t quite the same.

We won’t be seeing my father in law for another few weeks. Looking forward to it.

I’m very, very grateful that folks do choose to be paramedics.

Especially the ones who drove the ambulance off road for about 1/4 of a mile to pick up my wife after a mountain bike accident. She might well not have made it without them. They were great.

Never got the chance to buy them a beer but bought one for a paramedic who used to drink in my local as a ‘thank you’ just ‘cos – hopefully someone else bought the ones who saved my wife beers some other time.

Please keep doing it and thanks again.

    Merry Christmas one and all!

Mate of mine set up a bonsai business. It’s been a massive success. He’s already looking for smaller premises.

    That is quite possibly treesonable.

I can recommend a couple of hotels and restaurants in Ypres and several other places to visit if anyone wants to go and stay over there. Ypres is fantastic – the Last Post at the Menin Gate is very emotional.

A very moving day, I’m sure.

A distant relative of mine was killed on 11/05/1915 somewhere near Ypres and is now buried in Sanctuary Wood Cemetery in Canadalaan – just down the road from Hooge Crater Cemetery.

We were at his grave on 11/05/2015. Very moving.

Treasure your picture of your granddad – we have no idea what my relative looked like. Tantalisingly, there is a picture in the Hampshire Regiment museum in which he probably is, but that’s as close as it gets for us.

No it’s not right, it’s ******* cruelty on an epic scale that we wouldn’t put our pets through but the hospitals hands are tied. The people you need to be angry with are not the medical staff it’s the politicians that voted and the people that campaigned against the right to die, sanctimonious self righteous bastards every one of them.

    This.

Most of the rest of this thread is just cant. I dread becoming ill in this stupid country as it will try to keep me alive in some unbearable state rather than allowing me to die with some dignity.

Britain sucks for all sorts of reasons, and this is very much one of them.

Thanks PMG and SP. Useful stuff.

I’m now wondering if changing the power settings might prevent SQL Server from being stopped regularly… I have to start the SQL Agent every time I wake the laptop.

after some google searching …. very odd but changing power management settings apparently fixes the issue!!!!!!

Would you care to elaborate on that please PMG? It would be much appreciated!

Model version of the same car for the dashboard or mantelpiece?

Audi keyring? Audi baseball cap? Both are available from Audi main dealers at very reasonable prices.

In Focus[/url] were brilliant – price matched their own internet deals for us. We came away with a telescope, tripod and tripod carrying rucksack thingy for about the same money as we were expecting to pay for just the telescope.

Thoroughly recommended – especially as they have donated loads of money to conservation projects.

Yes, just keep your wits about you.

    Stupid.

Not really stupid at all – keeping an eye open for unattended suitcases, rucksacks etc seems very sensible to me (as it would at any time or place)

All blokes of a certain age have a soft spot for these but would you consider paying this kind of money?

No I don’t and no I wouldn’t – you could get something really classy for that amount of money…

I think you’ll find that that is a W108 not a W123. Dreadful act of vandalism. Beautiful car.

Check out what MercedesSource has to say on YouTube about old Mercs. “There’s nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes”. That said, the W123 is lovely… You will probably find that some parts are surprisingly cheap and that some are just the opposite!

Check all the usual things that you would with any old – and the youngest W123 is now 30 years old – car.

How much are you looking at paying?

Edit – recently saw a W123 taxi still in daily use! (300TD)

Mostly Coral tonight, coupled with two large glasses of red and a steak of epic proportions in La Vaca Negra.

So far so good but sometimes wonder… Was it worth all the travelling just for a birthday?

Have to be somewhere I suppose…

    Had three of these:

One black 1600, two red 1800s. Would have another one (preferably a GTI) if I didn’t have one of these:

(nothing like that condition – yet (it is that colour though)… There’s nothing as expensive as a cheap Mercedes!)

Would like to add one of these to the stable (eventually – when the 280CE’s fixed)

    Preferably in metallic green.

    Also love these:

As an example of this attitude, apparently some people find this picture reasuring rather than horrifying

I am a Christian (who mostly doesn’t do the right thing) and I find that picture / quote utterly horrible. Quite the sort of thing I’d expect from certain sects that I have experienced – and from which I distance myself utterly.

I am totally in favour of assisted dying (although a part of me wonders how that squares with God’s will). God gave us the intelligence to develop the means for it and to sort out a way of implementing safeguards, though, so let’s think it through and do what’s best for those in need.

Very hard question in some ways – and very straightforward in others.

    Update – now working fine.

If you remove the Nuget package

    Microsoft.CodeDom.Providers.DotNetCompilerPlatform

you can run Web Forms and MVC applications on GoDaddy’s shared hosting as Roslyn is not used and csc.exe is not uploaded to the /bin/Roslyn folder (and the Roslyn folder is not even created, obviously).

You would have expected their support teams to know about this.

Many, many thanks to Gary for those links, which solved the problem, and to everyone else who’s taken an interest and provided helpful comments!

How big is your audience? Is self-hosting an option? I did that for a while, just have to be very careful setting up a DMZ and conscious of the ‘A’ bit of ADSL.

Not sure if I want / am in the right position to do this. Not a huge audience, I guess, but not sure…

I’m not a MS bod but I’m not surprised that a webhost won’t allow some random executable to be installed on their hosted servers.

Not exactly a random executable… It’s a Microsoft thing. Although I suppose someone could create a file with the same name? Wouldn’t it have to be signed / have the right credentials though?
