@welshfarmer – we must have met sometime! When were you at the Belfry? Do you remember Jingles?

Swildon’s One is a pussycat. Google for ‘Swildons Sumps’ for the rather less user-friendly ones! And Four used to be full of large red worms as it was underneath a cow shed. There wasn’t a place called Cowsh Aven for no reason!

My first thought was ‘why’, but then I recalled some of my caving trips and I got it. Because you could…

The Long Crawl in DYO, Dim Dwr in OFD, The Lobster Pot in Sidcot Swallet and the entrance to Daren Cilau all spring to mind. Mix in some water and Swildons Sump One was pretty good fun too…!

For a little vertical fun try the entrance rift in St Cuthbert’s.

Then there were the caving games – crawling through the back of a chair, circumnavigating a table without touching the floor… Quite a lot of alcohol was involved. All played in caving huts after the pubs shut. Then there was crockery cricket.

Never play sofa rugby against a women’s team. I’m saying no more.

Always wanted to to do some cave diving – I’ve dived underground but not without a surface but got no further than that.

Plenty of acceleration when needed, a very nice place to be at any speed, nice sound and will cruise at way above a ton when it’s legal… And will still do 30mpg at 130kph. Best car I’ve ever owned.

The irony is that just as I went to read this thread the Tudor watch thing popped up – for the umpteenth time. I’d much prefer Maseratis!

This is not once a day for me, it’s multiple times per day. I know it’s advertising revenue and all that but if we go elsewhere we won’t read any of the adverts…

I hope it works out brilliantly for you and turns out to be a positive thing whatever you do!

C# ASP.Net MVC would be the way to go.

SQL experience never goes amiss though, so that’s a good thing to have as well.

Very best of luck – I hope it works out for you.

    I wasn’t entirely serious…

I like BMWs very much. Not so sure about the Mini – the increasingly inaccurately named Mini!

@Gary M Not VAG, you see. Therefore an unapproved make around JulianA Towers and as such likely to require spares.

Veuve Clicquot and Perrier Jouët both do a rose, which should be good if their NV whites are anything to go by. Can’t recall trying either but like both the whites.

If you drive something like that you will need to have another complete car so that you can replace anything that breaks and then get home…

Lying in bed hearing owls calling. Think the most vocal one right now is a Little Owl. And still have half a glass of wine left!

We once had a ‘do’ where the minimum entry ticket was a bottle of champagne and someone turned up with a bottle of something ‘brut’ and the explanation that ‘brut was a champagne grape’. Needless to say they were welcome anyway.

As one who would prefer water to Mumm Cordon Rouge and finds Belle Époque to be much better than Moët et Chandon ordinary I should expect Cristal to be rather good. Louis Roederer do make a nice drop of wine.

La Grande Dame and M. Dom Perignon are very welcome at JulianA towers (if they should ever choose to visit). PJ ordinary would be the quaffing champagne of choice… (So far)

Señor Cordon Negro is not welcome.

Hey, UFG, the other posters can go and do one. I get it – and also think that here are two of them so that they have a ready supply of spares so that at least one of them can get home…!

    Jodie Kidd and gorgeous cars?

    What’s not to like?

I was astounded that the Citroen Décapotable would fetch £150k and that an early Range Rover would fetch £110k (earlier show)!

Yes! Love driving my car. The drive to work is a pleasure – only a shame it has to stop. Work is mostly good, though.

Sometimes go out for the sheer joy of driving – lucky enough to live in some great countryside. Roof down, great views – what’s not to love?

    And it will do 145mph…

Front pads and discs for mine (A4 – not 08!) were about £250 so with £50 for the MOT I reckon you’re about spot on the money. Assuming that you have new discs too, of course.

If you can afford an 08 A4 a few quid for the brakes shouldn’t trouble you!

NavFree uses no data and covers loads of places.

Besides, there are deals on data usage abroad. O2 is £1.99 per day for data abroad. I never switch my data off these days.

    Would I take another wife?

That would depend entirely on who’s wife she was and what she looked like… Uma Thurman or Julie Delpy perhaps…

(Actually no, no way. Marriage vows not negotiable as far as I am concerned).

3.0 Audi engine does around 28mpg overall (can be coaxed up to 37mpg if careful – but why would you!) and does around 30mpg or a little over on a run. Not at 145mph though! Only got 26mpg overall that day – started well but got the chance to cane it later.

I’d imagine the 3.2 Quattro would be a couple of mpg less in each case. Autotrader’s figures are surprisingly accurate in this case.

    Lovely engines.

Chocolaterie de Graslei, run by one incredibly nice guy, on Grasbrug is the place for chocolates!

No I’m not related to the guy or in business with him, just a very satisfied and reasonably regular customer.

    Ghent is fantastic.

Bruneep, the way my guts have been today, it wouldn’t surprise me if that was the cause of the tremor.

    That explains a couple of things… 😀

Two, but have used three and would like to again.

Main coding screen is the large one straight ahead, the small one to the left is where I check it works in Chrome.

Pricing is pretty standard across the board – they are very rarely discounted.

£319 for a 16gb wifi model – and as you already gave iPhones tethering won’t be a problem.

    Enjoy!

Don’t pay the extra for a cellular version if you have a phone which can create a hotspot. Tethering works pretty well.

Keynote (comes with iOS now I believe) would probably do for presentations if you can’t get an internet connection for some reason.

iPads don’t do USB but there is an adapter kit which enables you to connect a camera via USB or plug in an SD card. Works very well.

No real knowledge of the competition but MrsJulianA and I love our iPads. Very good bits of kit, reliable and very useful.

You might want to consider a wireless hard drive over larger capacity in an iPad if you need more storage – about £110 for a terabyte from Maplin.

    Get an iPad and enjoy!

Moving on slightly; what do you listen to if you want to lift your mood?

Karelia Suite works for me every time.
