    Try an older Mercedes!

They go on for ever and if you get the right one it will go up in value not down…

Mine has cost me 10k over the last 28 months – purchase, repair and running costs (excluding fuel) and she’s still fabulous at just over thirty years old…

Well I changed my 13 year old, 120,000 mile Audi for a 28 year old (now 30 year old) 150,000 (now 180,000) mile Mercedes and have never looked back…

EM might be bright be he is being a massive male chicken. Horrible man.

My next car will not be a Tesla (although it wasn’t going to be anyway…)

our 7 speed CLK320 who’s box failed at 68K miles?
New valve body & electrics pack cost nearly 2K to fix.

    Ouch!

Most of those cars would be classics now! I’ll have the Notchback and the BMW 2002: thanks…

Wouldn’t have a VAG automatic as I’ve seen too many go horribly wrong.

Mercedes automatics are great – I have three over 25 years old with over 150,00 miles apiece and have driven a couple of late 1990s Mercs with fewer miles and they are all fine…

I love automatics: so relaxing to drive!

    Old Mercs are great!

    W124 300CE as a daily driver, plus a spare one to fix, W123 280CE still going strong…

Not so much into MB’s current offerings, but MrsJA’s older E-Class is lovely.

CFH will know what I mean. Email me if you read this, Captain…

Don’t think there was a blacklist thing when I left…

Doesn’t really matter anyway. Spouting drivel to wind people up about something which is going to ruin a lot of lives is a stupidly shite thing to do.

I was wondering if CFH was still around, but perhaps he’s gone too.

I don’t post on here any more (qned) as I was so pissed off with chewkw and his crap (and posted a few things to that effect).

Got a warning or two and decided that enough was enough.

Woppit could get away with being offensive but I couldn’t.

    Don’t think I was a ‘big hitter’!

I don’t think that that is required – overt evangelism is unnecessary and obscures the message. Having experienced extremists of several kinds in my life it’s not how I would portray my faith or how I should like it portrayed.

And before you ask, I think that example is better than evangelism. So I ought to be nicer to Chewkw – I thought I’d say it before anyone else does.

It isn’t about different opinions or where you come from, it’s about the way you phrase it.

Chewkw has an amazing ability to come across as an imbecile most of the time.

Chewkw you do come across a little strong quite a lot of the time.

Hopefully you will go the same way as TJ and FredPaddedBraDibnah sometime soon and leave the rest of us in peace…

Lille art gallery and La Piscine in Roubaix are on our list of things to do.

It’s a relatively long way to Bruges if you are only over for a weekend – much better to save Bruges for a trip all of its own.

My grandad didn’t nail jesus to a cross so that Diana could marry a little Hitler from romania and the could claim benefits from hard working families in broken Britain with a fiscally responsible faceless beauraucrat in Luxembourg and single parent families all in their pslces paid for by people who’ve worked all tjir lives to build a Britain free from health and safety and put on a pedestal by sex perverts and out of control teenagers roaming the streets all high on poppers they’ve scored off Tory ministers and wearing england flags and its not even st Georges day who’s Turkish and they’re coming in the EU the buggers cos were coming out and a good job too.

    Very interesting.

I’d like to go to Tasmania as I have some fairly distant rellies there – I think my grandmother’s sister married a soldier from there and emigrated after WWII. I’d be fascinated to be able to locate them.

Brewdog came across as a bunch of trendy tossers – not a suit in sight, far too hip to be professional.

No way I’d ever want to work for them. I’ve worked for some idiots like that before – I quit after three days.

I once scraped the bumper on a 500SL reversing in Asda car park – just a bit. It wasn’t that bad and would have come out with a bit of t-cut, so I didn’t bother leaving any details. They probably could have afforded repairs if needed anyhow.

Troll or asshat – comes to pretty much the same thing whichever way you look at this post.

the same time; it’s a good reason to have a car you don’t really care much for. I don’t know why the UK is so car obsessed

Idiotic comment – and you Gresley (hardly a lady with views like that).

So I can trash your stupid bikes since I think that they are pointless and not worth caring about. Ok?

We’ve found that it’s not that much different in price to the ferries – the ferry price is one thing, but then you have to add a £6 per person per trip fuel surcharge each way, whatever you spend on food and drink in the restaurant etc.

Much better than a ferry for a short trip (weekend / long weekend) in terms of time saved but we have used a ferry when we’ve been going over for a week as the extra couple of hours journey time makes little difference in that case.

Apologies to anyone and everyone I upset and swore at last night. The ban hammer should probably have been wielded but it appears that it wasn’t, for which I am grateful and lucky.

This remains a big issue (something which I might be selling if it all goes pear shaped) for me and it sometimes makes me go a little (a lot) over the top…

I wouldn’t worry too much Julian, even if it is a “Leave” vote, it’ll take years – possibly a decade before the exit actually completes. Meantime, you’ll still be free to live and work in the EU as at present.

Yeah, I’m hoping that that will be the case, but concerned that our rights to live and work anywhere might be removed from the beginning…

Sorry also for your loss, thm – there’s a whole other conversation about why people should have to travel abroad for that reason (about which I feel equally strongly) – but my original point stands that without the automatic right to live and work wherever I choose life is substantially diminished for me.

This is quite apart from losing the protection from the excesses of our own government that the EU tries to give us and the rest of it.
