thanks that’s brilliant! Actual work is not strenuous. Commute tires legs. walking , going up loads of stairs etc.MTFU’d tonight and legs feel better now after a cold shower. Legs always feel stiff going up train station stairs. Good to know this is a temporary phase and will lessen during a ride. RICE sounds ace too. MTFU too. Will have a think about these with this advice.

    Cheers all That’s brilliant!

Was a bit worried if I MTFU’d too much they would seize.

swimming may be considered low intensity but it provides lots of resistance so not only are you using energy to move but also working lots of muscle groups too, which need fuel to recover. This process has a longer effect on the metabalism. Because it is using such a variety of muscle groups it is probably a good fat burner too in the same way weight training is. Circuit training is the same in the that it is using muscle groups but also different as it occurs at a higher intensity.Although I doubt circuit training is more effective than weight training in fat burning as although the heart rate is increased and more movement actually occurs (through higher reps) purely lifting weights tends to be more intense for shorter periods with less movements. ie you may lift heavier weights with shorter reps so less movement occuring but higher muscle recovery effect on the metabalism as a result of more muscle recovery required post training. Could it be possible that the body get’s used to one type of excercise quite quickly and then becomes more efficient and thus one single method i.e. higher intensity or low intensity is not the answer. The answer may be to chop and change to keep stimaulting fat burning in the body. So both 😆 IMHO of course.

carving on a snowboard feels similar to riding a succession of berms and i like berms.

i’ve successfully mounted the switch on the chinstrap of my pisspot at the side vent ofmy xc helmet. using a thin shoe string and curley wire that wraps around the strap. button is on the bottom.

thanks guys that’s great. Side of helmet sounds good, although I may need to add some velcro to my pisspots due to lack of holes. I think the ideal position allowing for helmet type swaps for a helmet mounted switch and my inch long barrel shapped switch push button switch, would be to attached it to the actual helmet strap somehow, running from ear to top of head, with switch at top.mmm

although i agree with the OP I also think the a major factor with gymming it is the frequency of the excercise, not just the intensity.Regular training is much better as you will keep you’re metabalism burning, which has an accumtave effect after after the excercise too. Also if you eat well you may in fact get heavier too, as muscle is heavy and muscle mass may increase. Again this helps burning more calories too, even after the actual workout. The best guide to how you are doing is measurements, or how your clothes fit.
