not into niche. function over form for me. Probably why I like Nicolai too. I just think it’s nice to see rider owned companies doing well without having to enlist a sponsored rider for input like some big orgs do to enable the design to work.Although I am very grateful to Brian Lopes for my ‘large company made’ bike.So it’s all good really. Suppose I just like the small guys doing well.

love transition bikes. It’s good seeing them grow and making a wider range of bikes.

i disagree and think some microbrands do offer bikes that are cutting edge and revolutionary I don’t think you would have found many bikes like the Dialled Alpine, when it came out. Now bigger names probably do similar frames, but at the time no-one did. Same with the 456 and Prince Albert too…and the original Inbred SS. Maybe if FS then yes, but that’s left to Orange and Broklyn Machine Works,Canfeild, and Transition.Evoluation occurs with ht’s too 😀

cool. thanks. Apologies I wasn’t implying it didn’t ride well, Just wondered how the ski’s translated to a bike frame.

    For current freezing conditions –

    aldi / lidl waterproof trousers.
Buff type thing for neck, mouth, nose.
Riding glasses with plenty of anti fog on them
    Pisspot helmet usually
    Normal full length gloves
    Thermal ski base layer
Thick Aldi / Lidl Winter riding jersey
    Race Face Shore riding jacket
Old Halfords headband (which covers ears – although a decent skull cap would be better for really cold weather

How does it ride? Does it carve by gripping a ski edge, or is it constantly drifting?

That’s a neat way of mounting footrests.

best thing to do is like when hitting the gym. (for me anyway). Get kit ready before, plan ride before and when getting in get ready straight away before sitting down and relaxing. If your mind is telling you that sitting down and resting is the best thing for you to do , keep in mind that it will be far more enjoyable after the ride!

i take cold showers ( going through to hot showers) after rides often.think i read it helps the immune system. Not sure if it helps the though as i am presently ill, although this is the first time in a very long time i have picked up a bug.

it’s just different and is ideal for week rides as it breathes life back into simple ( for me anyway) local trails. Something great about riding in the dark too and also very rewarding on the return.I also like the really feeling what the bike is doing, over roots etc and kind of getting into this groove.

if it’s a dome topped socket that undoes from underneath the leg then iirc it’s 12mm but the socket needs to be super long. Marzochhi does one ( give the ukbikestore a call) they should be able to sort you out regardless ime.

just relized first part of my post is not helpful.
