merlin wheels are ace. My 519 mavic rear was hit by a car three weeks after it’s build and written off. but a local lbs did a good replacement job. Still both going strong. All my factory built wheels have required some fettling. Nothing major though.

it’s all planned with mitrary precision / strategy ( except for the late nights and lay-ins!) lol

i’m a city boy and have wales 2hours away. Swinley close by and chicksands 1 hour away!not to mention aston hill, loads of local stuff, surrey hills, etc etc…. And then there’s the 6 or so skateparks and 4 bmx’s tracks 😉

And by city i mean centre of the capital!!

v8’s are designed to be rebuilt. Just rebuilt and repainted a pair of mine which are 10 years old.good as new now, brilliant pedals ( and also v12’s too) cost me about £8 including terror pins (and bearings)

If you full the v8 up with grease it shouldn’t get gritty, unless the bearings wear lots.

just ride it and get used to it.

yep that’s exactly what i use on my v8’s and v12’s. It’s ideal. You can either get a grease gun the screw directly on the tube or just squirt some into the supplied syringe and use that. Put a load in though. I do mine until it comes out of the ends a little. When v8’s are new they have hardly any grease in them at all.

i go through phases. Commuter is the only one that little use – at the moment. But then sometimes I use it loads for a period.

need a longer one than i have to clear the bb tool. may be the way forwards. cheers. pitch on the bb bolt looks odd though. the bolts are old basic types and undone using a socket.

probably best to use a long bolt, soak overnight in a release agent and then use a vice, using the frame for leverage.

not even sure what a release agent is though.. just read this on the web. 🙄 presumably its like plusgas

all sorted. a bit of headstratching and then an idea that worked. Place the end in a vice and rotate the whole assembly around the clamped part 🙂

the owners probably only 14 or so and has done his best with paper round money.probably used most of his budget buying the frame second hand off a mate and bought bits and bobs for it later. not everyone is loaded you know.the starting price is high though so i see your point.

you can also get small metal adapters to fit brake stops the mount in them and nealty clamp and cable / hose. I think M parts do some. Got some and their good.

part of the aston xc course is pretty steep comapred to swinley so you would need to be a bike your comfortable with maybe. Having said ride aston in the dry while it’s conditions are awesome.

it has a certain homegrown local feel to it and the type of local riding I can associate with, but at the same time feels well filmed and ridden and a mellow yet pumping tune. 🙂

there’s some cracking kit around these days. I just avoid all the pimp stuff and although it’s probably great basic stuff suits me fine.

tbhTJ that photo does not really look like there’s much to hit. Say you went to a bmx track, a dh course did something like that, then a helmet would be required.

willard citreon do a focus sized sweet car. not sure of the model but looks like the ds. Saw one out the other day.some of the vauxhalls look cool too. I love the little fiat 500!

i can completely understand how a heavily vented helmet could twist your neck etc from say a strong branch snagging. On balance though I know I will always wear one.Plus they will keep being improved too…

i’ve always found bike mechanics brilliant, tbh but I am quite careful where I go, so can completely understand your point PP.

well worth a second opion and some serious research / advice. I used to have a gp who was a cycling fan and he was cool. Seen a couple of medical types who really do not like anyone having fun though, too. They seem to answer every question about excercise with … swimming… swimming… etc which is fine if you like swimming i suppose and can actually get to a pool during the week before they close.Hope you make some progress soon and take one day at a time.
