    Thanks everyone.

Looking currently for a 2nd hand S10e or a Pixel 4a. The later seems to be out of stock in Europe at the moment, and I’m not daft enought to buy a 2nd hand phone more than what it’s worth new!

    – no bigger than 6.3″ in diameter.

Does it have to be round?

Sorry obviously I meant Diagonal width.

Concerning the micro USB charging port it’s because I have currently a dozen of cables scattered around all my bags in case I need to charge my phone at some point.

I currently use a very old Wiko harry 4G so anything remotely better will do.
Thanks for the advice though I’ll have a look at the forementionned website

    Cheers

Ok I have been running a 11/42 10 speed MTB cassette on the hardtail with a 9 speed rapid rise rear mech and a flatbar tiagra 10 speed shifter (first gen).
Back in the days 9 speed MTB and 10 speed road had the same cable ratio.
To make it work though I had to use a pilo mech hanger to lower the mech

they are manufactured by an italian company called Thok, with some ducati stickers. The bike itself is quite good with some good ideas as the batterie sitting underneath the tube to lower the centre of mass and the motor slightly up to increase clearance.

Trying to drive the car as little as possible (even thought taking bus take twice as long). Trying to buy as little plastic packaged food as possible (nuts, oats lentils and pasta without any packaging) Trying to buy as local as possible, switch from cow to seed milk, no red meat (ok it’s been almost 20 years now) and cutting down on eat. When I do eat meat trying to get as much as I can from my fellow MBTer (he’s an organic butcher). Trying to repair as much as I can before disposing, no buying stuff i don’t need anymore. I have start to build my own furniture from reclaimed palletes (although more for fun than political statement). Only buying second hand cars and I might kill my dream of my 40th to buy a new bikes (F800R) for a second hand one.
Recycling only what can be recycle (Metal, glass and paper) at recycling center. Using the honey pot as jar for food.
When at mine heating doesn’t get turned on until it drops below 16°C. I have refurbsihed my flat so double glazed windows and a very fancy heating system for the water meaning I can turn it on demands.
Far from being perfect I know but trying to do my best

EDIT : I don’t have kids (don’t plan too either) a TV or a Dryer. Planning on stopping to buy new books, but owning my taste not sure i’ll find a suitable alternative.

I assumed there was some sort of correlation

Well my ‘disapearence had more to do with me working in the industry and being in France. Just popped back because I am looking for some help about locations and B&B in London and I have decided to have a quick look throught the various posts. And failed to recognise anyone :(

IIRC The hack was more 2007-2008

hello not read all the post and can’t comment on the licences thing as got mine abroad but :I would personally get the licence with the most comprehensive trainning.
As said a 500 like an ER-5 or a CB500 are easier to ride than a 125, can be found for cheap and have been designed with commuting in mind.
I would however do a couple of things :
Once I got my overall budget I would buy the best equipement money can buy. Might not seems like much but good gear will outlast many bikes and will make the experience of riding much more enjoyable. Then I would buy my bike.
If it’s really for commuting purposes I would get a top case. Yeah they are ugly but hell they are so convenient.

    Hope this help.

don’t know about the UK, but Lidl France have some power tools on special on a regular Basis, managed to buy a very nice plunging Mitre Saw with rail for less than 80€

I’ll buy a decent cordless drill/screwdriver and some pocket jig for 45° holes and tenons. Then you can build from here.

Look at morediycreator n youtube and insturctable. Start small (box and shelves) and built from here

ok but anyone did actually weighted the frame + shock?

I know finale bikes are built dependant but surely they should depend as weel on the frame weight.

No info on the cotic website.

    Ok thanks for the reply.
I am not gluteen intolerant far from it.
I just want to try going gluten free to se if I can get some health benefit.
As far cutting the crap and processed food out, I am lucky enough to :
Live in France where junk food isn’t as popular as in the UK
Mainly cook my own food from scratch (unless it’s pizza I know some few places that do that for me ;) )

I just want to try it. I mean I bet lot of people here have tried the back door thing without being alergic to standard copulation ;)

Anyway thanks for the many sensible answers.

Decathlon own band 15e watch are juste a ‘watch’ cheep that gives me the time and date of the day with a stopwatch if need and light for the night.
I fear that I may have to charge my smart watch way to often for my liking.

Thanks everyone a couple of things.
As long as I’d like to “ease off my commute” it’s still is 22kms and end up with a 800m long 12% uphill.

Can’t use a sink as they are in the shared space of the lavatory.

I’ll have a look for these dry shower thing.

    Hello criley

    Easy one.

Road are maintan and own by the DDE a state own agency. So the government is it’s own assuring body. It means that if you have an accident caused by the road the DDE will pay the bill.
This mean as it’s everybodies money they are not too fuss about doing a great deal of work. So a little patch will work just fine.
Then, the people working for the DDE aren’t paid a great deal but it’s ok because they have plenty of time to work for they “second” job, the logical consequence is that they have less time to work for their main job aka fixing road. And trust me all are perfectly happy to go and spread a bit of metlted tarmac than to just ressurface the whole bit of road.

    Thanks everyone

It’s 20-22 kms depending on the route. Going down to work is going to be fine most of the time the route being rather cool (so cool I have no plan in riding it during winter due to some frequent icing).
No gym nearby saddly, although I could try and see if I can ‘rent’ shower at the firemen places down the road.
First commute yesterday. so far so good I’ll do 2-3 a week I guess. Some good idea, but I can’t ‘ride steadily’ I have tried and I can’t. I am a go fast or go home person when it comes to commute.

It is very interesting to see tha things are a bit different in the UK but not so much.
Bike industry ususally pay shit, I know that because I will stop working for the subdivisary of the bigest Wheel manufacturer in a couple of weeks.
Part of it is indeed money. Same job in any other field (sales admin) will pay 10-15% more.
Same goes for the lads downstairs in the workshop. Need specific trainning for high end wheels and Suspension, but are on minimum wage.
I have a very decent network of local and not so local bike shop but they have all gone throught very difficult time (due to online business) at the moment they are doing ok thanks to the e-bike trend very big here but I can clearly see a ned to it in a couple of years.
A good bike shop will have a 7-15 day waiting list for workshop space.
A very bad one will have trouble keeping its client. And after 4 year takling to lots of LBS I have saddly to admit that there is not a lot of very good ones.

    juan
    Free Member

well one of the problem is that more an more LBS are focusing on the trade of whole bikes. To be able to compet you need to work in the correct column and therefore make rather hefty forecast.
So there is little money left for clothes accessories and obviously staff. Had in the mix tons of new standard and most of the times very bad sales rep who can’t do their job for shit and here goes the result.

    Best regards
