rorschach, kind of, it has replaceable drop outs and if it doesn’t come with a geared one, it’s the same as the normal salsa ones. no cable mounts however so that would put me off.

HungryM – i checked them out this morning for the Selma, they show full stock for all sizes of frames going back to 2008 ones. makes me think the website is out of date!!

ton, thanks I know they are an ace bike (there is one in my front room now) and ride well however it’s 2.3lbs heavier than a ti frame, a tomac and the niner is just nicer.

    hmm, that Yeti is interesting.

Saw the tomac before but again out of stock. I know it’s only a few weeks but i’m after a bike now! again that selma is nice but i think they only have a 16″

I have a 2.0 147 03 plate. great car but a little thirsty, 32.5mpg normally and uses one hell of a lot of oil. I have so many halfords screwdriver sets i’m thinking of starting my own shop.

Very comfy, drives great just watch out for the wheels, 1 of mine cracked and the other dented really badly, perhaps metal fatigue? then again i have no idea how the previous owner drove it.

Yep it’s perfect for a SS CX, my ss felt breed went up and down it from Shoreham a few times. Enjoy! (it’s rather dull in places however…)

njee20 yep, part of thier charm, a couple of reviews about from mags regarding this over the years but personal experiance backs this up nicely. in the end however, they are just pedals that seem to work pretty darn well.

xtr are race orientated and have a stiffer release than the XT, if you like the locked in feeling they are ace.

This years barrier is different inside. Last years has a mock sheep inside (reverisble too) however this years is more like a thin fleece. doubt it will be nearly as warm.

@1961 yep mine was like that but i really hated the mavericks, the front end was so high youd get to a corner and the bike would fall over…. with the niner forks it is now one of the sharpest and best handling bikes i’ve had the pleasure to ride….

JRTG, how hard is it to build a wheel with rims made of snow?

Prety darn hard but they are areodynamic…..

110mm 6 degree negative stem with 620mm bonty big sweep bars on rigid niner forks. How some of these bikes go round corners with such high front ends is a mystery to me……

I’ve had Bontrager RL’s for about a year and really like them. If I could afford it I’d have Sidi’s (I’ve got Sidi road shoes) but the Bontrager’s are a good cheaper alternative with essentially the same design.

+ 1, Just bought a pair and for the dosh they are very very good. my spec ones finally died when the pedals wore the carbon sole away….

If you can drill straight………. Besides removing material with possibly substandard tools may cause stress points. Maybe use a laser instead of a drill?

I’m sure drills and homemade fixes have all sorts of warranty let alone saftey issues….. Would hate to hear you got hurt while using the drill. Besides don’t you only get shrader valves on kids bikes?

Yeah give them a go. The guys I ride with took the mick but they are all pretty fast cyclocross racers so are propper hard. However I think they make riding my bike easier and more fun.

    JRTG

yep got them on my ss cyclocross bike, amazingly wide and very stable even on really steep slippy decents. love them.

The through axle forks Brant is working on are the new carbon x-lite ones. We won’t see these for a loooooooooong time sadly. Salsa ones will be here soonish.

I ride one as it’s easier, I have a fully rigid one and yesterday rode a xc full sus with gears. Man it was hard! Took me ages to ride the silly thing up the hills and was only faster for 10% of the ride (some of the downs)! I have respect to all you full sus geared riders. You make it look easy but now I know….

I’ll stick with my rigid, ss as it’s a myth that is hard. Full sus geared riders are the true hard nuts. Us ss riders are just wimps takin the easy option. Fact

yep used them in 16,17 and 18. pretty good value, not particularily light but wear well. have you seen the ali ones? ive been using a 16t one all year with minimal wear. i think 1 year of moderate riding is about as long as they will last but they are light and fancy..
